2011 Spring Training thread
We're staying on the campus of Thunderbird, about 10 minutes to the north... We are looking to check out the Camelback facility during non-major league games, so I'm happy there will be some Sox/Dodgers games going on... What time does it open?

2011 Spring Training thread
If it hasn't already begun, can we please start a thread for Sox Spring Training 2011? I plan on attending in ealy March.. I'll be there for 5 days. I'd appreciate any suggestions on what to expect at Camelback. Also, looking for the typical tourist info... good places to eat, hike, pick up sluts...

Reed Johnson to sign with Dodgers
Its close to done... pending a physical ( and it will be an extensive one). Look for 1 year at about $800,000... far less that the $2 mil his agent asked the Cubs for at the end of 09. He will be Ned Coletti's favorite player... even if the Dodgers don't make the playoffs.

Mike North/Webio/FBI troubles
To North's credit, I heard he wrote Webio employees checks from his personal account. Knowing North, I can tell you he may have missed on Hernandez shady background, but it would be very out of character for North to be the source of the fraud. People may not like him, but he's an honest, hard working guy who deserves what he's earned.

Sox Sign Ben Broussard to minor league deal
yep - Boras' involvement makes it all the stranger... if its true (which still seems unlikely to me), it would have to be some non-guaranteed minor league deal. We'll see what happens, I guess.

Sox Sign Ben Broussard to minor league deal
I know this sounds insane, but I've been told by someone close to the matter that the Sox are close to signing Ben Broussard. This move makes zero sense to me, but since I heard it, I figured I'd put it out there.

Mets & White Sox Have Been Talking...
Trading Jenks is a great idea... for all the reasons that have already been mentioned. I'd love to see another World Series for the Sox in 2010 or 2011, and that ain't gonna happen with the likes of Jenks and Dye on the roster... SELL HIGH!

Music Thread
coupla long and forgotten ones that popped up on my ipod receently: Junk Monkeys 'Five Star Fling' album... those guys kicked some ass! David & David's 'Boomtown'... fine piece of of work... these 9 songs were all they ever put out, but David Baerwald had a good solo record a few years later... my cassette copy is long gone... got find it on CD...

Swisher, Dye or PK will be traded
Kenny's past behavior suggests he is a buy low sell high kind of guy. That leads me to believe he will trade Dye. Based on the past two seasons of underproduction from PK, KW won't get much for him if he put him on the block. Swisher is versetile, and has a slavery deal. I think its unlikely he'll be traded. Thome's $13 m contract and his age make him untradeable as well. KW's past behavior does suggest he go in search of some sub-par outfield help.. someone life Tavaras... but I hope not...

Happy Halloween!
Thome gave out autgraphed pictures of himself to trick or treaters this Halloween. Jenks lives about 1/2 mile from him, but I didn't go by his house, so I'm not sure what he was giving out. Probably just candy - I'm sure the Jenks house always has plenty of that on hand.

Indispensible Travel Tools
Its been a long time since I did any serious traveling... but --deck of cards --money belt --US dollars and a few travelers checks (maybe a few euros too) --the usual array of pills --one good, long (but not big) book --tabasco sauce --leatherman --concentrated soap Three of each - shirts, underwear, socks and pants. Sox cap. There is lots more.. depends on your destination and time of year...
