FYI Roman, umpires do in fact wear catcher-like shin gaurds under their pants. the only places that aren't protected are the arm and thighs. A few days ago, I noticed that the umps don't wear dangling throat gaurds. That really surprises me, because a foul ball to the throat could kill you.

I have no idea what Rick White is doing coming in to close games. (by "close" "I mean near scored, not as in closing the game) I knew that he was going to give up runs as soon as he got in. What did he do? Lead off homerun. Then he beans the next guy. P.S. Am I the only one who thought that the guy swung at the pitch from White in which he was plunked?

I think that last year Maggs was less than that. 38 HRs, 135 RBIs = 3.55 RBI's per HR. Shutup when you don't know what you are talking about.

I stopped by my local Subway restaurant, and noticed that they have ballots there. I picked up about 100 and plan to mark down all Sox. I hope those of you who get to go to games often are doing the same. In other news.... I've become a Mariners fan (they're quietly owners of the second best record in baseball) for the next two weeks. That is because they are only playing the Royals and Twins over that time. I know that most of you will say "It doesn't matter what they're doing if we're not winning". True, but it doesn't hurt for the other teams to go on a nice losing streak.

It's really sad how much Ankiel has fallen of the Earth. He was quite good in 2000, until he had the playoff game with 3 WP's in 1 inning. That shows that one game can ruin a pitcher.

While I'm liking Tom Gordon (he really is not doing bad, folks), I can't stand Rick White any longer. When is the last time he had a decent outing? He never helps this team. He needs to leave in favor of a Minor Leaguer, or better yet, a Major League acquisition.

I really like Jimenez. While he has the highest batting average on the team, he is definitely NOT the best HITTER. Saying he is the best hitter is saying that he is better than Frank, Maggs, Konerko. Higher batting avg., yes, but better, NO.
