  1. QUOTE (jenksd @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) Yes lets bunt people over when we have the lead the majority of the game. If only AJ had bunted Cabrera over in the third, we would have f***in killed them. Also, you're right the atmosphere made Linebrink, our best reliever, turn into tee-ball for an at bat. Maybe that's why Alexei Ramirez only went 1-4. He's only been in this American atmosphere for a small time! We should have had Jenks in to prolong the game and then put in Javy Vazquez(FORMER NATIONAL LEAGUE PLAYER. BREATHES NATIONAL LEAGUE AIR AT HOME) in with the instructions to get this game through to the night. Assuming the Sox continued their pattern of not bunting, I doubt they would score any more runs. THEN, we could put in Linebrink. I hear he's a night-person, he woulda k'd the side after giving us the lead with a homerun in the top of the inning. Atmosphere, bro. Linebrink isn't a f***ing 9th inning pitcher, thats what I meant by atmosphere....bro, he hardly ever comes into the 9th inning to pitch including his entire career. Lets see....who did the Cubs bring in during the ninth inning to pitch? Gee....I believe their closer, perfect situation, and I've watched enough baseball in my life and teams typically bring their closer into the game in the 9th to keep the game going into extras or in the Cubs scenario keep the game tied. Now, were trying to hold them at 3 runs to go into extras, Jenks should be in with the game on the line. This really shouldn't be argued. But whatever, game is over, we blew the game lets hope tomorrow is different.
  2. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) +1 You're unlikely to beat the Cubs or any other good offensive team when you only score 3 runs. Lots of blame to go around today, and the offense deserves just as much as Dotel and Ozzie. I blame it on the Pirates, we used all our nice offensive production on them.
  3. Look at the brightside, for all of you who complain about not being mentioned in the paper, we will at least be on the front page tomorrow.
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) I'm not one to blame the manager, but today, I think you could chalk it up to Ozzie and bad managing. Of course the pen and offense didn't help, but too many bad decisions and over-managing. -First bad move was taking out Danks. Was he pitching too good or something? Who cares if the middle of the order is coming up, believe it or not, Danks has faced them twice earlier in the game. And when a pitcher was going good like Danks, it doesn't really matter if it is the third time through the lineup. I'm sick of seeing Danks pretty much babied by Ozzie. LET THE MAN PITCH FOR f***'S SAKE! -Next bad move was not bunting Uribe over in the 7th after Uribe got the pinch hit single. It's late in a close ball game against a good team, why are letting everyone swing away! Hell, I would have liked to even see the hit and run attempted. It's just got stupider and stupider. First you take out your starter who was dealing, then you don't even try and move the runners along to make it a more manageable scoring situation? My god. Crede not bunting in the 8th with Swisher at first isn't that bad of a move because Crede has been one of our better hitters this season, but I would have liked to have seen it anyway, especially with the way Crede looked at bat prior to that AB. -Putting in Dotel was questionable. He has been good for a lot of the season, but he hasn't really shown he can keep leads in close games. Vs. the heart of the order, I'd much rather see Linebrink in there for 2 innings or Thornton. Believe it or not, but Thornton is better vs. righties. However, this one lies more on Dotel than Ozzie. I say putting in Linebrink instead of Jenks is a bit questionable as well as Jenks is our best reliever, but Linebrink has been just as good. -This final one is probably worst of them all... not bunting Anderson over. It's tied in the 9th inning and you don't try and move the runner along and instead go for 2 run homer? I could see rational in this move if Thome has been good this season, but he's been horrid for the majority of the time. Pablo Ozuna should have been in to either bunt Anderson over or to push the ball over to the right side which would have had the same effect. That way you could then either go for the squeeze with Cabrera up or hope for a single/sac fly. Couldn't agree more. Heck say we did leave Danks in and he gives up a homer also to Lee worst case scenario we take him out and they still tie up the game. But seriously at 85 pitches, plus hes been mowing them down up to that point Danks should stay in. I really wasn't surprised when Dotel gave up the lead, never liked him and it seems hes good every other start. What erks me most is your in a national league park playing under their rules and have runners on base 8 times this game and don't bunt even once to move a runner over. Also, its the bottom of the ninth, tie game and we bring in someone who has never been in this type of atmosphere in Linebrink. Don't get me wrong I didn't hate the move since he has been outstanding for us. Matter of fact I claimed in the gamethread Ramirez would hit a walkoff anyways so I was getting ready to be disapointed. Getting to the point Jenks should be in, its a tense situation perfect for a closer. Well, tomorrows another day, love our chances vs Marquis and hopefully Contreras is on or it will be a loooooong day.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) Horrible day for the Crede and Thome. Did they announce any news on Zambrano during the game? Sportscenter said he would miss a scheduled start. So we might see him in the cell next weekend.
  6. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) We had a s***load of chances to break the game open against the best team in baseball, as the visitor. Win tomorrow. Then Sunday. This is not saying much now but I felt before the series started it would be tied 1-1 going into Sunday night. Really like our chances tomorrow, I see no reason we don't score at least 8 off of Marquis.
  7. Well this is quite the dramatic flashback of last year revisited. I recall several times when we faced Cubs last season where we held the lead, the bullpen comes in and gives the game away, not to mention the brutal offensive showings. Thank god Soriano is on the DL, game could have been much worse.
  8. I understand Linebrink is our best guy but you really have to bring your closer in for that situation, thats a closer type situation. Oh well, we should knock up Marquis tomorrow but Contreras can be just as bad.
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) I wish we would have pinch hit Ozuna for the pitcher and have him bunt Anderson over, and go from there. Instead, we have guys going for the 2 run homer and we blow another runner at second, nobody out situation. It's just bad fundamentals right now. Could someone tell me the harm in bunting the runner over???? Exactly, I also wanted Ozuna in to bunt him over, not to mention he might even get on base on top of that iwth the bunt.
  10. Bulls***. I'm usually not pessimistic but Aram is gonna hit a walk off to win this one, I just feel it.
  11. Should of put Ozuna in to bunt him over. Wasted at bat by Jim.
  12. So we should see... Anderson Thome Cabrera You would think. Plz get a hit BA.
  13. Ugh, bring in a righty now to face Lee. This could get ugly.
  14. QUOTE (north side chi sox fan @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) yea i think so He did. So did Dotel though.
  15. Please get both runs back, one run isn't good enough against the Cubs.
  16. Dotel is f***ing terrible. Hate when he pitches on the mound.
  17. f***ing ridiculous, blew so many RISP chances. Now Dotel coming in who scares the s*** out of me when hes on the mound.
  18. Come on Ozzie, hit and run here, Carlos has hit the ball hard today.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) Did that hit the pole? Looked like it did.
