  1. Why aren't going to pay him what he will be asking for.
  2. Let me preface this by saying i am a big fan of the trade for the many reasons everyone has stated for liking the trade... In saying this i looked at the negatives on Gio... his height, era last year... I decided to compare him to someone with a similar makeup... Johan Santana. Santana's stats up to the age of 21 are freakishly similar tothat of Gio. They are similar builds, similar stuff. Only time will tell, but i hated the fact we got rid of Gio last year and i am estatic to have him back.
  3. not really... We are not going to pay all our pitchers. At this rate "the 5" will run us 75 million, which we wouldn't do so after 2008 we would have no pitchers under contract. This is what he means by if we keep them all now we will be 100 game losers in 2008/9/10
  4. I like it! Gio had a great year last year and i felt he was our best prospect last year... so garcia and rowand for Thome
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) I wouldn't do Buehrle alone for Eckstein, Reyes, and Wainright. No matter how much Buehrle might want to be a Cardinal, or how much the media may obsess over it...the Cardinals do not have enough talent to trade for Mark Buehrle right now unless they want to move their first baseman. End of story. Their system is too bare. Agreed... end this thread
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) With our lineup you dont need speed guys. You need someone on base period. Give me a line drive with a high OBP over a speed guy, who's OBP is mirrored with his BA and doesnt walk a lot. We need guys to get on, and we need our thumpers to drive them in. And that doesnt mean try and hit homers all the time. Just drive the ball. If we do that we are fine. I still think Mack in LF and leading off over Pods and we win a crapload more games last year than having him out there to be an out. I agree... I think with our lineup the ideal target should be Michael Young.
  7. 100%? I see it cited as sources say it is him but how do we know there is no contingency on Thome's year long health.
  8. i have seen in multiple places that gio is not involved. There is a player to be named later but how do we know this is gio?
  9. Funny you say that about the "world series"... last week a true world cup was formed with the plan to have 16 countries play. Similiar format to "football's" world cup. It will start in march of 06, and i bet the us won't win. I do think the us "soccer" team will do well though. I am going to the game against England May 28th in chicago. Rooney and Beckham aren't playing, but i believe a good share of the starters will be there. Watch for next weekend when the Sox play the Cubs at Wrigley. This series is very important for Sox fans.
  10. welcome to the board and i welcome myself to the board
