  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) Wow, no need for you to be difficult about it. We had the chance to go for the juggular. Uribe had a solid AB, just couldn't get the big hit. Sorry, but even though I'm thrilled to get the lead in this game, a one run lead in this park isn't a guaranteed winner. I didn't say there was anything wrong with it. It's just the way you are. You see the 3 guys we left on base and not the 5 that we plated. Nothing wrong with that. Just the way it is.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) Well, hard to not sound greedy, but that was a big out there. Garland has to face the top of the order here. It's not greedy at all. It's just looking at things the way you always look at them.
  3. I bet Hawk is pissed right now. He should come and kick Garner's ass.
  4. Iguchi is heating up. Too bad Willie wasn't in there to go deep with Oswalt against Tads.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) Would it be better if I said intensity instead of toughness? I meant it more in regards to physical attribute rather than emotional/mental attributre. What does being physically intense have to do with anything. Should he go out there and flex his muscles and then strike them out. Should he pop the veins up in his neck to show he cares. Today had nothing to do with anything other than the fact that he had a bad day and Houston had a really good one.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) I'm not one of the Friends of Judy posters, but I've long thought that main thing that keeps Garland from being a top-notch MLB pitcher is his lack of consistent toughness. I know he's a laid-back guy, but sometimes when the game gets intense, you need to match that intensity. Not to get annoying, but we're not facing Vlad and company anymore. These guys have taken great swings throughout this series, and in a way, we're lucky we're up 2-0 coming into today. I don't care what he is, but saying a pitcher in teh world series with 18 wins doesn't have toughness is just stupid to me. He's been awesome all year. He's had one bad game. s*** happens. It has nothing to do with Jon's toughness.
  7. Oswalt is really good. Glad we are playing with house money. Thank you Paulie and Pods.
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Getting out of jams after a bad play extends an inning. So if Berkman would have CRUSHED a ball right at Iguchi harder than the base hit, and Jon would have been out of the inning. Would that make him more tough, even though he got hit harder? Right.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) I think we've all seen a lot of the good and the bad Garland this season. When he's gone out and showed some balls, you could seem him buckle down in big situations and not just throw poor pitch after poor pitch. We're lucky Ensberg didn't end this game in the 3rd inning. His sinker is extremely flat, and like I mentioned earlier, our starters aren't coming close to keeping their hitters off-balanced. So his stuff isn't good tonight. What does that have to do with his toughness? I think you mean that he's having an off day. It has nothing to do with toughness. Berkman could have hit a ball harder than he did on a line right at Iguchi and it wouldn't have made Garland more tough because he got out of the inning. It's not like he was trying to give up hits or have bad stuff.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Get the bullpen ready, cause Garland hasn't shown an ounce of toughness so far tonight. How the hell do you determine toughness from a pitcher? Are you tough if you don't give up runs? Are you tough if you get lucky and the batter hits it right at a fielder? What exactly establishes toughness in a pitcher, and how the hell do you judge it?
  11. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) It's a pathetic excuse. I don't remember you saying that it was luck on any of our breaks. I just said it we were bound to get an unlucky break with all the lucky breaks we got. I've said it all along. Seriously dude, I wasn't gonna even bother with you tonight after your crap the other night, but if you are gonna say something at least learn to frickin read, and know what you are talking about. Thats two game threads in a row.
  12. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) Enough with the luck talk. LUCK LUCK LUCK LUCK LUCK LUCK LUCKLUCKLUCKLUCK LUCKLUCKLUCKLUCKLUCK. No need to start anything tonight. It was an unlucky inning.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) 3 runners reach, no runs. We're opening up the door wide open to take control of this game. We're opening up the door? No. Maybe bad luck is opening up the door. If Rowand grounds into a medium type double play, then we waste an inning. As it was it was just bad luck.
  14. Bad luck inning. Bound to happen with all the breaks we've gotten. Go get them in the next inning.
  15. Well. it was about time that a break goes against us.
