Big surprise. Wood taken out of the game after throwing 104 pitches through 5.2 innings. Tie game. Bases still juiced with 2 outs. Wuertz coming into the game.
Wood will never win more than 14 games.
79 pitches (41 for strikes) by Wood. Those are Contreras-like numbers. If the Brewers' hitters were a tiny bit patient they would have alot more than 1 run scored.
Yep, I thought about that 20 K game as I was typing. That was also before he became the second most injury-prone pitcher in baseball, second only to Kevin Brown. When Wood was healthy, he could throw a 12 to 6 breaking ball. Not anymore.
Ned Yost is blowing this game by stupid play-calling. He called for a hit-and-run with a catcher at 2nd base and the pitcher at bat. Clark just tried to steal 2nd and he got thrown out by a mile.
Clark should have stayed at 1st. Spivey just walked. Wood can't find the plate and the Brewers should be taking advantage.
