McCarthy out of rotation; to bullpen as swingman
ESPN 1000's Bruce LeVineLine just reported that Brandon McCarthy will be out of the rotation with the off-days coming up and into the bullpen as our new swingman a la Glendon Rusch. He will long relieve and spot start when we need a 5th starter. LeVineLine got this information from an interview with Ozzie.

Uribe injured
Why do you say that? He looks the same to me. He has a gut that won't let his jersey stay tucked in.

Well, this will be Pablo's true test at SS with a groundball pitcher like Garland on the mound. I don't mind his bat and speed in the lineup over Uribe's though.

ESPN 1000 just said that Ozuna is starting at SS again tonight because Uribe has a strained back.

We saw Carl in RF the other day and he was pretty good there. I'm not too worried about him playing LF.

Time to make a deal for a 5th starter?
Bad move. Our bullpen is already a bit weak with Shingo and Vizcaino, and also Marte's shakiness. Cotts can go 2 innings in relief and gives us 3 options that we can trust (Cotts, Politte, Hermanson). We probably just need to bite the bullet and have McCarthy start until El Duque is healthy again. And they should definately be skipping McCarthy's turn in the rotation when off-days permit.

A good example is Sergio Mitre of the Flubs. He was always brutal in the past when they used him to spot start but now he has apparently come into his own. He has pitched well for them and he appears to be a completely different pitcher now.

Notes: Keeping Hermanson fresh...
That's what I kept saying in the chat room. Those N.L. teams have seen him a lot.

I still want to know why people automatically consider McCarthy to be a good 6th starter for us. What has he done for us so far? He really hasn't done anything different than what Felix Diaz did for us last season. Remember how Diaz pitched that one good game against the Cubs and was brutal against everyone else? It's eerily similar to that, isn't it? McCarthy obviously isn't ready for the big leagues.

- Ozzie may have something new in store for El Duque
They would only be skipping El Duque's turn when they can with off-days. They would still be pitching our other starters on normal rest.- Ozzie may have something new in store for El Duque

Did Kenny tell you this or something? How can you assume that?- Crede on Block?
ESPN's Cold Pizza just had Ken Rosenthal and Buster Olney on and they talked about the players that could be on the trading block. They mentioned that the Giants and Rockies would be willing to move anyone and that Jason Schmidt, Barry Zito, and Preston Wilson will be the major players on the move. They also mentioned that the Sox are unhappy with Crede and unless his numbers improve he could be shipped off. They said that Crede isn't a contact hitter so he doesn't fit Ozzieball. They also mentioned that Joe Randa would be a perfect fit for us. He plays defense and hits for a high average.- Moronotti flip-flops stance on Sox as expected...
