  1. It's a job for him.  If any of us get tired of our job, we may decide to step away no matter if it's good timing for the company or not.  Emotions get the best of people but that is a bad look.

There are rumors that he told the Colts earlier this year of his intentions but they didn't want to lose out on so ticket sales for this upcoming season so they kept it under wraps.  This could line up and make sense seeing as they were supposedly turning down offers for Jacoby Brissett left and right back in April, their GM said he had to be "bowled over" to make a deal.

My only thing is why are people so irritated they didn't add guys that would make this like an 80 win team? The core isn't quite ready to produce but it will be soon, why does it matter who holds their place in the meantime.

It's clear to me that they are looking to flip a switch as opposed to ramping up. Whether they can flip that switch or not remains to be seen. I'll start sweating this time next year.

They had an opportunity to get elite talent at a solid price to add to Moncada, Anderson, McCann, Abreu and Eloy  who have all produced this year.  Imagine that 1-6 with Machado,  That offense had the opportunity to be elite over the next handful of years.

Then, A couple of pitching signings to add to our rotation for 2020 and we are looking at a team that would have made serious noise.  2019 was the year to get one of the big hitters, 2020 is a year to get a big pitcher.

Yep, and Paxson basically admitted after the Otto Porter acquisition that they traded for him because they didn’t see themselves as players in this free agency period.  Sad.

At this point, we need to hope the Bulls go the way of the Nets.  Create a winning culture building from ground up (GarPax is  bad but they've done it before) and then space is created when Porter's contract is done.  The Bulls have plenty of talent, they need to show they could make some noise the next two years, the 2021 class could also be very solid.

Please please don't let Kawhi sign with the lakers. This is shaping up to be one of the most interesting nba seasons ever, the lakers don't deserve to fall ass backwards into a championship.

This would be devastating after their title run and how the last couple of days shaped up.

What I mean is that he's a player that makes his teammates worse by his very presence. I can't necessarily say he's selfish, but it could be argued. Every time he was hurt under Hoiberg they played better basketball and won more games.  When he was healthy, they lost more games. I wish I could go look at the Bulls W-L record with and without Lavine since the Butler trade.

I know what you are trying to say but what I am saying is Lavine played out of position when they weren’t playing well. He’s not a pass first guy, they just need some time together

I’m not saying that this tandem can’t be better but Look at February, the Bulls best month and their third month playing together.   They were playing very well together and were  .500 for the month, Lauri had a higher usage.  They point out that if you’re calling Lavine selfish at this point, it’s just a lazy take.  He’s a score first SG who played PG.

Lavine is JR Smith, and other teams haven't figured it out yet. The Bulls are much more efficient on offense and defense without Lavine on the court. Lavine's 25 pts are spread amongst the 5 guys on the floor when he's not playing, and the entire team plays better on both ends without him. He makes Markkanen worse by being on the floor with him. Markkanen without Lavine is a budding star. Markkanen with Lavine is an ok player.

Lavine shot almost 47% from the field not far removed from a torn acl. JR Smith has never even sniffed a year like Lavine just had and he’s only getting better.

Russell is one of a handful or so players that had a higher usage rate than Lavine. So if you think Lavine is hurting Lauri...

  7. 26 minutes ago, Jack Parkman said:

If you could get Russell for free and trade Lavine, would you? I would. Lavine doesn't mesh well with the rest of the team.  They play better when he's not on the court.

I like Russel but I don’t think he’s the type of player you want to max out to average 22PPG and get bounced round 1 every year, that’s why the Wolves look to be the top suitors right now.

Bulls can already do that with the talent they have once they all get some time together. Lavine is getting better every year but he was forced to play the point a lot , not an ideal situation. Coby is going to be able to get out and fly and Lavine will look much better in the offense.

Being the worst team is not worth the costs of trying to get there anymore, especially with where the Bulls are with a number of young pieces that would probably have to get traded or spend much of the season hurt (as was the case last year) in order to be near the bottom of the league

Exactly, look at the Knicks. They have been bottom feeders for years.

It’s a theme night. Nothing more nothing less.

Get off off your high horse.

I don’t care about disco or house music. When it plays at the park I do the same thing I do when I hear country music. Ignore it.  And if there is a house music night at the park? I go oh well and go back to watching the game.

Lots of “I” in your post.

Still don’t understand the comments directed at me, nobody is on a high horse nor do I need to get over myself for making a simple comment on a message board.  Nobody was saying anything to you

Makes me wonder about the times when I was called out for some stupid things from Admin’s and here we are with some even more ludicrous comments...

Yea, but the death of disco lead to the evolution of house music.  The music had went underground, became more raw by removing the commercial garbage aspects of most disco that had over saturated the airwaves.  Killing disco was a good thing in the end and was necessary as it became a caricature of the actual quality disco sound.  Like the Philly Salsoul sound that was and is still great.

So much crap was being pushed onto people that I don’t blame them one bit for hating disco.  It wasn’t just taking over radio, it was all over tv

    Brady Bunch disco

    Chips Disco

    7up disco

    Toys R Us disco

    Disco McDonalds burgers

I don't need a lesson on house music and every genre reaches a point where it gets annoying or too mainstream (see EDM now).   it still does not take away the fact that it was seen as an outlet and a way to show their identity for blacks, hispanics and homosexuals in a time where it was tough to do so.

Oh Jesus Christ! Get over yourself.

Last night was a small commemoration of an Ill fated Sox event that gets mentioned In the baseball and rock and roll hall of fame.  The 28th is a fireworks night set to music the grandkids of the disco demotion crowd like now.

The only signal is that that the Sox want you to buy tickets and watch a a ballgame.  No different than game of thrones night or halfway to st Patrick’s day.

Um, OK?  Do you feel better after getting that out on the internet?

Whether you agree with it or not, house music came from disco music on the South Side of Chicago, where the Sox play and where the Sox have a lot of fans.  I'm not black or hispanic and I'm not even liberal but if you can't see why this would be hurtful to many Sox fans than your bolded internet tough guy comment says it all.  The Chosen Few guys even had the Sox pretty close to cancelling the event all together, this week.

Personally, I don't care as much about it as you may think but just because you or Steve Dahl says it wasn't racist, doesn't mean it doesn't appear that way to others that feel disco and it's extensions was and is still a big part of their community.

This makes absolutely no sense...other than being a convenient excuse to scapegoat someone.

If Hahn couldn’t go up to $300 million, and should have known this as early as two years ago, why enter negotiations in the first place?

Why would a team president care more than the owner about controlling free agent salaries?   KW simply is a reflection of JR’s wishes, not the other way around...in the same way Huckabee is a mouthpiece for Trump.

If Hahn was that upset, why not go directly to Reinsdorf?   The Cubs with Hoyer and Epstein are nearly always on the same page, but the White Sox aren’t?  What would be the point of that type of structure, where no consensus emerges?

Also, who’s the one who signed off and adding 3 legit veteran in a matter of 2-3 weeks before the 2015 season?   KW doesn’t have a problem spending $125 million, but $250 is the magical cutoff all of a sudden?

Logically, any team president who felt his job was threatened would be the first to go out there with the GM and convince the owners to allocate that money for a superstar...so it’s pretty clear Reinsdorf and not KW set that line in the sand.

Why doesn’t Hahn quit if the situation is untenable...and why is Hahn seemingly helpless to make a convincing argument with that Harvard Law degree of his sitting there on the wall collecting dust?

If it's true, it makes sense, IMO.  If JR will really do whatever KW wants and his comments do align with the shared story, perhaps Jerry is far removed with KW calling the shots and telling Hahn what to go in and hold firm at.  My boss gets a bonus based on budget each year and if she makes a decision that I don't like or agree with, I'm definitely going to her boss or the owner of the company because I'm not getting what I want.  Hahn could have known his hands were tied and used that Harvard Law degree to talk KW into signing subpar players to entice Machado.  This is a business and every business has useless employees on the payroll, every company also has people that care about the budget even though they aren't the owner.

This could all be BS but just sharing what he was told.  Obviously, this all doesn't matter in the end because if we didn't sign a $300M free agent, we aren't going to sign a bigger one with this regime.

  13. Thought I'd share an interesting story that is not Trout but related to these big deals, my brother has been doing some work at a White Sox employee's house.  FWIW, He asked him about the Machado non-signing once he found out he was in the organization.  As has been discussed, $300M was the number from day one and Manny badly wanted to come to Chicago as opposed to anybody else "at the table".

We've also heard directly from Kenny that he didn't want to go to $300M, this is true but what isn't public is that "supposedly" JR does whatever Kenny tells him to do and was prepared to go to that number from day 1.  Hahn is uber-pissed at KW along with many internally and KW is apparently 100% of the problem when it comes to signing and offering big money to free agents.

If you look, the Sox really haven't made a significantly big contract signing since Albert Belle in 1996, KW took over just a few short years after that and we have not seen the money spent on a premier FA since that time.

Yeah I’m just reacting to the nba hell line. Some versions of hell are worse than others, we aren’t talking about those like 09/10/11 bucks teams, that’s the worst to me.

But we are a major market, yes we have drafted pretty well but our front office has not done a good job of showing they can go for it in several years. I don’t have a fuzzy feeling that we are going to continually draft good players and find a way to trade them for someone elite because it has yet to happen.  They’ve played well lately but overall they are a dumpster fire.

  15. I think we are seeing why some people out there picked them to compete a little and even finish 8th in the playoff race (I think Barkley did).  There is talent there especially adding Porter but they will still be in NBA hell until they get a legitimate superstar or Lauri becomes Dirk.
