  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) Big 10 refs are so freaking terrible at their jobs. First 25 minutes they let both teams play. Now they just decided to call everything both ways. Ridiculous. Illinois must be playing
  2. QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) I agree. I don't like what he teaches. I look at the body before, I look at the arm. The arm should be going along for the ride as momentum is transferred from the lower body. One of the things I look at when evaluating a pitcher's mechanics is how his front foot lands. If you look at your picture he lands on his hell. This stops the momentum and creates alot of stress in the back and up into the arm. I think some of the drills they do lead to over striding which is what you see here. There are many theories about pitching mechanics. The more people you talk to the more opinions you find. Being from the medical side of things, I look at stress and where they are centered and where they are dissipated. The job of our resident scout as you call him is to project them to the major league level while mine is to fix them hopefully before an injury. It's just a different point of view. The way he was landing on his front foot was the first thing I noticed in the picture as well. The back leg should drive the pitcher forward to land on the ball of his front foot, not the heel. Agreed. Honel's problem was as much or more between the ears than it was injuries.
  3. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 17, 2008 -> 09:55 AM) The Brothers Forever thing was so dumb it had me laughing for minutes on end. "I am your brother, together forever ..." Also, if you watch closely, the clips they show of them singing aren't always the same as the judges clip. Two nights ago, a girl was singing and was missing an earring. Then she had two, then one, then two, back and forth. Gina Glocksen said this last year as well. I noticed the girl with the missing earring too. There is some definite editing going on. Keep in mind these contestants are singing 2-4 times before they ever get to the judges over the course of a few weeks. When they had them in Birmingham, the people had to come back three different times, only seeing the judges the last time. Not sure exactly how they do the editing and the whole process, but the auditions do not happen in one or two days per city as they lead you to believe.
  4. All I can say about last night's game is WHEW! 26 turnovers on the road and still a win. Nice I knew this would be a tough game for the very reasons greasy already mentioned. IU never plays well @ Minny. IU was terrible last night offensively and have been going down this path recently. They are dribbling too much and there is too much one-on-one play. Big Ten defenses will play them hard and there will be games where the officiating allows a lot of contact, but you have to take care of the ball better than that. This is one of those games you feel lucky as hell to get out of there with a win, go back home and regroup. Hopefully, the next three games will allow them to get focused back on ball security and more teamwork on offense. It wouldn't hurt to turn it up a notch on defense either.
  5. I just saw the worst commercial in history while watching American Idol. Peyton and Eli Manning in the DSRL (Double Stuf Racing League) for Oreos. I typically like Peyton's commercials, but this one was just horrible. It wasn't funny. It wasn't cute. It was completely idiotic. Peyton should fire whatever agent roped him into that one and Peyton's best friend should kick his ass for not walking in the first five minutes.
  6. Why did Rodney Alexander not play more today?
  7. Who has said that IU is a great team? It certainly has not been me. I don't recall greasy stating that. What I have said, and I still stand by it, is that IU CAN BE a great team. Today is the first game this season where they have had a full squad available to them. It will take time for them to gel and their best basketball SHOULD be ahead of them. They do have the pieces necessary to be a very good team, if not a great one. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 05:16 PM) Gordon whines more than Pruitt when a call goes against him. Didn't think that was possible. Almost as much as Illinois fans whine every game about the officiating, if that is possible.
  9. IU simply is not hitting open shots. They'll lose if that continues.
  10. St Louis scores 20 points the other night. Michigan State tonight scores 36! What the hell is wrong with college basketball???
  11. Damn, you are a lot more optimistic on IU's next too games than I am. Minny did beat a decent Penn St. team on the road today. But I hope you are right. I think they can be good, and there are going to be games when they gel early and blow teams out, but there are also going to be games closer than we might think. Let's hope tomorrow is not one of them.
  12. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 03:24 PM) Minnesota wins. Id say Tubby Smith early favorite for Big 10 coach of the year. I know Bo Ryan could be a candidate, but unlike Seth Davis and other sports pundits, I felt Wisconsin would be competing for a Big 10 title to start the year so their record isnt a huge shock to me. Minnesota on the other hand would have been a bottom dweller, but Tubby has some magic going on. Can't argue with you at all on Smith. I never expected Minny to be dangerous this year. In fact, I have had that game earmarked on IU's schedule along with the game at Wisky as games I am really worried about for IU. Any game in the Big Ten could bite you in the ass and I am not looking past tomorrow (okay, who I am kidding, I pretty much am lol) but Thursday's game at The Barn is worrisome. IU has traditionally not played well there.
  13. QUOTE(A's fan @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 12:26 AM) excuse me? whats fake about it? I'm an Italian,Agrentinan from the bay area who now lives in NY with family in NY as well. Nothing is fake about me sir. Well welcome to the board then. Hopefully, you will get past your warmup period and start making quality posts. Only time will tell.....
  14. QUOTE(A's fan @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) ???? USC had some key injuries or else they would've whooped LSU's arse in the natinol champion chip game. umm, excuse me, LSU had the same damn injuries! Hell, LSU won their conference championship game with their backup QB. USC couldn't beat Stanford with their backup. LSU had their best WR miss several games, their QB injured a couple of times, completely missing the SEC Championship, their All-American DT out and ineffective while playing with a bad knee from a cheap chop block, and others as well. LSU's injuries were equal to that of USC's so that crap doesn't fly. Wanna whine about injuries, see Michigan! The only game they were completely healthy all year was their bowl game.
  15. Gordon picks up three fouls in the first half as the referees are calling a lot of reach in/touch fouls. Not saying they weren't fouls, (others have picked them up too, not just Gordon) but I have certainly seen games called less tightly. While he was on the floor, he dropped in three bombs that aren't fair to the defense. I'd guess the closest was 23 feet, one may have been 25 or 26'. Btw, it would be really nice for IU to actually be able to play at full strength for once.
  16. FYI, if the Plus 1 system was in place this year, the matchups would have been as follows: 1. Ohio State vs. 4. Oklahoma 2. LSU vs. 3. VA Tech USC and Georgia should all just shut the f*** up. I know they were playing well at the end of the year, but they didn't do enough to belong, even in the Plus 1 model. It's easy crowing from the outside.
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) American Gladiators Sports or Athletic Entertainment? How about none of the above??
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Well, this bowl season absolutely sucked. I thought the Capitol One Bowl was great!
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 09:12 PM) Can someone interpret what JaMarcus Russell was saying at half? Can someone interpret what Jamarcus Russell was wearing at halftime?
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) His good friend who is also committed to the buckeyes? Mmm Hmm, maybe it was the buckeye that Pryor decided to move in with at the game....Maybe it was one of the buckeyes that had dinner with him each night.... Could have been any of them. Or the Michigan sweatshirt he wore on arrival to the hotel. He's buddies with the OSU recruits and they are pushing hard for him. He's interested in OSU heavily for sure. But the stupid buckeye on the helmet and the Michigan sweatshirt mean nothing.
  21. Apparently Hawaii offered Jones over a million, but he wasn't satisfied with the admin's commitment to the program. I interpret that as recruiting budget, assistants pay and facilities. He didn't think it was ever going to get better and he felt he had done his part to raise the level of the program, yet they weren't doing theirs. I don't think this is about money at all. Reportedly Jones loved it in Hawaii and loved the laid back lifestyle. I'm sure he is living quite nicely.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) Not a chance in hell, its between OSU and Michigan and OSU is considered the leader. He also sported a buckeye sticker on his helmet during the AA all star game. That Devier Posey put on when he wasn't looking....
  23. I still never heard why Steve Slaton did not play in the Fiesta Bowl for West Virginia. Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?
  24. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) Cutcliffe is overrated. I've seen every game the past 2 seasons and he is so conservative, especially if UT goes up by 2 or 3 TD's. He'll just sit on the ball and allow other teams to come back by run, run, run, punt every possession. His play calling in the SEC championship game was just awful. Yeah, Ainge did poorly, but it doesn't help when the OC calls plays that only include 5 yard out routes and slants, and screen passes. Not gonna be very successful doing that. Me, as well as every other Tennessee fan I know, was happy to learn he was a candidate for the Duke job. We were all hoping he'd take it, and when he did, we were all rejoicing. The loss that will hurt is losing Trooper Taylor. He was my favorite coach on the entire staff. But, I'd have to imagine there will be loads of highly qualified coaches out there who'll want to go to a program like Tennessee, so I'm not too worried. Careful what you wish for. The last time Cutcliffe left Tennessee went backwards.
  25. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) I heard it was between Michigan and Duke for Pryor. Guess Coach K said he could play football and basketball there. Is it true Pryor will anounce where he is going during that high school all star game this weekend? No Lots of rumors flying about Pryor. People with Oregon still think they have a great shot at him. I don't see him picking Duke in the end because he has stated that football is his #1 priority and the talk of him playing both sports in college has died down somewhat. In the end, most think it will come down to a battle between Michigan and Ohio State. Many forget that Michigan was on his list for a long time because he loved the school and the atmosphere, but his interest eventually waned because he didn't think the offense would fit. It does now. Michigan is scheduled to be his last official visit. Expect his recruitment to go all the way to signing day or real close to it.
