I'd say avoid Garland like the plague. Send him back to AAA, if possible.
-
I don't think Garland "gets it" yet when it comes to pitching. If D Wright is healthy, send Garland to the pen.

Clu, As a lifelong Chicagoan and Sox fan, let me try to explain the Chicken Little vibe that seems to permeate these boards whenever something goes wrong. 1) The obvious answer--The Sox haven't been to a WS since 1959, and haven't won since 1917(chk year?) That's a 44 year drought, even the Blackhawks have been to the Stanley Cup Finals a few times since then. 2) Every time the Sox give you a year that breeds anticipation for the following season, something happens and the promise goes unfulfilled. In 1977, the South Side Hit Men go 90-72, then follow up in 78 with a near opposite record of 71-90. In 1983, they win the West by 20 games, then fall to 74-88 in 84. In 1993, they go to the playoffs, then have hopes dashed in 94 by the strike. In 2000, they lead the AL in wins, then suck ass in 01. The lack of any year-to-year consistency leads to insecurity amongst Pale Hose Supporters. 3) The hated Cubs. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that means more to a Sox fan(outside of winning a WS, of course) than finishing better than the Cubs. The Cubs have the stadium, the money, and the attendance, the Sox have the middle-child complex. Every loss or bad performance means one less thing they have over the North Siders. 4) Ownership records. With the exception of the Bulls run in the 1990's, Chicago is notorious for having crappy owners, in all sports. Chicago fans are some of the best in the country, and usually follow all Chicago teams, regardless of sport. Going from Reinsdorf or the Trib Co.(real Cubs fans realize how shoddily run the baseball side of things are up there) to the McCaskeys, to the Wirtz Organ-I-zation is enough to drive any sports fan clinically insane. There is so much pent up sports frustration in this town, that people jump at any chance to rail on management, and blame them for anything, no matter how short-sighted or inaccurate the claims may be. Does that help, Clujer?

Prior looks unbelievable. As long as he stays healthy, I can't see him not being the next Pedro, Unit, whatever. However, staying healthy is not an easy thing for a pitcher to do. I hope he stays healthy--it will be more fun to watch when the Cubs pull a Maddux part II when his contract comes up.

I'm going with a mental angle on Frank. Don't think it has anything to do with his swing, or eye. I think he's constantly second-guessing himself, and that he's lost confidence. Anybody who's listened to him whine and pout over the years is aware that he definitely has a persecution complex, which is indicative of someone who is insecure. I'm no psychologist, but when I watch a lot of the outs Frank makes, he just doesn't look like he has any confidence in his plan at the plate. When we walks, you can almost see the look of relief on his face. Thoughts?

I hope Roger Staubach bats for Konerko next time up.

Dammit, two 2-strike doubles in a row. Cmon, Sideshow Bartolo!!!!!!!!!!
-
Wish it were Mike......................oh, forget it, it's too easy

That was the first successful sac bunt by a White Sox player since Fred Manrique did it in 1991.

I'm not a CLee backer by any means, but it sure seems like he's having a lot of what baseball wags call "good at-bats." Usually, things turn around for guys who work deep into counts consistently, and make pitchers throw a bunch of pitches. Unless, of course, they suck, which CLee very well may do...

I'd actually rather see Garland sent down to AAA until he learns that 3 stirkes is an out, and 3 outs is an inning. He gives up too many hits with two strikes, and too many baserunners with two outs. Drives me nuts.
-
Desi Arnaz better not get a hit.
-
Stop that
-
What's going on? I'm scared.....
-
Whoever they bring CANNOT blow this game. White is fine by me, so is Gordon or Marte.
-
I think the Ken Harvey strikeout was the first time this year a Sox pitcher actually got a batter out who had a two-strike count.
-
Because we slammed Ray up the rear. Oh this team.. I'm going to have a stroke here today. Hey, just remember I wanted to sign Knoblauch before the season started....... ...OW, who threw that!!!!!
-
Why was Garland allowed to pitch this inning? Can someone explain this to me?
-
Believe me, I am one of the last people to overreact over a few losses, especially 3 games into a season, but even I have to wonder if the makeup of this team is of the kind that cannot perform when any kind of expectations are being held over them. They did well in 2000, when nobody thought they'd be any good, then in the second halves of 2001 and 2002, after they were pretty much out of the race. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm getting worried.

I think you have to give veteran players more than two days before you start pulling them for bad play. It affects their confidence, and throws them out of their comfort level. We don't need that circus two games in.

ER, just to clarify, I don't have UD tickets yet, I just assumed there were some available. I've heard since then that this was a bad assumption on my part. Maybe I'll shoot my way to the roof of one of the remaining Taylor Homes buildings. It'll be just like Cubs fans do!!
-
Well, if that doesn't get a hitter drooling, nothing will.
-
not necessarily - you could be wealthy person with no job. Believe me, that ain't the case this is a definite upper deck thing to do - but why not take the bus or el? I did it as part of a Walkathon for my high school can't give you this one. Real upper deck person would have kept on driving and never seen the cop behind them, let alone stoip for a citation. And what the hell was wrong with the cop anyway? I was on the north side, obviously and you gave them up? Couldn't afford the time commitment anymore. Job duties, familial obligations, et al. I still get to 15 games a year or so. Overall you could be upper deck material! YESSSSS!!!!!

Well, do any of these make me eligible?: Haven't missed a home opener since 1988, when I was 12 years old. Walked 10 miles to attend openers in years 1989, 90, 91 and 92. Slept outside Comiskey in 2000 for playoff tickets. Blew a red light while in the car listening to Jeff Abbott hit game-winning home run off Minnesota's Bob Wells. Received citation. Owned season tickets in 1997, 98, 99, 01.

Hu..? Tampa isn't WS ready? No way? Really..?? The Buccaneers have a better chance of getting to the WS than the DRays. Booger McFarland throws a nasty forkball.
