I'm shocked Bama isn't going with the throw every down offense OSU used.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 05:46 PM) And having just typed this I realize I could have simply left my PS4 plugged into hdmi 2 and it would share the functionality. LOL! Guess I'm getting the old wire out to move some cables through the wall tonight!! Thats correct. You can just leave everything and make all sound go from TV to Soundbar through that digital feed.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 04:45 PM) Well they're not there yet and it took years of non-enforcement to build up enough fraud to lead to the last implosion, so you've got several years to worry about that. True, "deregulation" needs a little while to take hold before it becomes a tool for fraud.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 03:21 PM) I think the adjustment will be far less than in 2008, but then again I am also working under the assumption that Dodd/Frank reduced some of the leveraged bets on housing and outright blatant fraud that blew up the financial industry, which I can't verify. Well, many of the guys that perpetrated that fraud are now in prominent positions in our government. So that cant be a good sign.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) If they pass their tax packages quickly that could be the best time to be buying. It would be interesting to weigh that against the rates going up. I knew I shoulda refinanced a few months ago.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) One thing that hasn't been pointed out here yet is that their plan to substantially expand the standard deduction will mean that very few homeowners at the middle class level will be deducting the interest on their mortgages, so the mortgage interest deduction for middleclass taxpayers will basically evaporate as that is passed (it'll remain for those who have large enough incomes and deduction amounts to still itemize). That's going to produce a response in the housing market as well. The housing market is in for a real s*** show. Its not only going to be harder to buy a house, but those that own it are going to have less tax benefits. Things are about to get real s***ty.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) I haven't had a home sound system for years so this maybe a dumb question, but do these sound bars hook up to TV? No more amplifiers? The amp is in the soundbar. Typical hook up would be digital audio out to sound bar, within the settings for the TV it will give you the option to put all sound to that output and then every single source uses your soundbar as the TV speakers. You can even mount it to the bottom of the tv mount if you have an articulating one. They arent going to beat a good surround system but they are much better than TV speakers. I have one in my family room attached to my mount. i think its the exact same one Steve has.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 11:26 AM) Being one of those special 2-3%ers, I work for a corporation. In Chicagoland, the $145k I made last year is usually going to be your white collar worker, not a small business owner. That said, what they take from my bonus will come back to me a little less. I'm happy to contribute but I sure as s*** wish the f***s above me we're contributing more, too. The people above you have advantages of being able to work the tax system that you may never have. To me, thats an issue.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) Only thing would be this presumed ego (or that seems to be what Bill Simmons is implying). My view is that he is so freaking good, that continuing to do so at Bama is just as impressive as if he went to the NFL and had a couple playoff years (since going to the NFL and winning multiple championships is so difficult...especially because as a head coach, you just have a lot less control...even if you were the GM too and I'm sure he would be...it still isn't the same). If you asked me who is better, Carrol (who has had ultimate success at both levels) or Saban...personally I'd say Saban. NFL types seem to think its some honor to be a coach there. Not everyone feels the same. Saban can do whatever he wants, gets paid way more than NFL coaches and quite literally can work forever if he wanted.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) Yeah, but I think they are implying he's chicken to go back again. Who knows how he would have done if he stuck around at Miami or if he decided to go now (he might have learned somethings). Either way, just cause he's dominating the college ranks (and making this many championships, regardless of the outcome tonight is dominating, imo) doesn't mean he's chicken if he doesn't try going pro. I think people forget how close it was that Saban ended up as the Bears head coach (IIRC, Angelo was very close to convincing him to come to Chicago). Regarding Chip Kelly, I am curious what he will do. Does he stay in the pro's or does he go back to college? If he goes back, where does he go? Does he go back to Oregon or does he think its a better sign of respect if he heads somewhere else. I'd have to imagine if Notre Dame struggles, they'd throw a lot of money at Chip Kelly (to replace Brian). Some rumors that he's going to Cal. He's making more money and has more freedom in college than the NFL. Whats the draw?

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 08:53 AM) I'm sensing an upset tonight. Or maybe that is just wishful thinking. Clemson can be run on between the tackles, something OSU decided they didnt want to do for some reason. If Bama has success and stays with that then I think they win. If they have to throw then its anyone's guess. I have Clemson winning this one 24-20

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) I really love Matta, and he deserves the right to go out on his own terms...but this just sucks. There was a point late in the game last night when it was close, and Trevor Thompson missed a bunny to get it even closer, and then made a stupid foul immediately after. The look on Matta's face said it all. You simply cannot miss on 5 of 6 recruiting classes and keep your job.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) Finally gave up on Always Sunny after watching a few eps of season 11 on Netflix. Felt like a chore to get through with too few laughs. Should have ended the series a while ago. Ah, I still think its got laughs but its ending soon. I talked to Rob a few months ago and they are surprised they are still on. So while they are they are taking the money I assume while most of them have movies or other shows.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 08:18 AM) Yeah, their only option is to play or transfer, not sure how serious they are about leaving. It's just such a toxic situation with even Jerry Kill talking s*** about the administration, but Fleck isn't gonna go 12-0 ever again at W. Michigan, so gotta get paid while you can. Looks like he's the one. His attitude will change the tone in the program, but I'm sure several players will leave. But thats pretty common when any new coach comes in.
