  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) I'll never root for us to lose a game. The draft is too much of a crapshoot to care about that. Sorry the Sox have put me in a very bad mood since the Royals and Orioles' series. I'm glad we won, but I'm still in the anger stage at the pissing away of the season. I'm sure the anger will subside before too long. True, but I think we've seen how much the draft can help a team now and in the future, especially with the way we have been drafting lately. Just a thought.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) On the other hand, it was also rumored that Pena was one of those guys that KW might have had his eye on for a while for some reason. Those guys are guys that KW occasionally will overpay to try to get. I think he saw a bullpen collapse/issue coming soon and wanted to add a quality guy to help. obviously it didnt pan out, but I think he was willing to part with a guy of Allen's caliber to help this season.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) Carlos Torres has a spot on this roster in the future. I didn't see the game, but I've seen him pitch enough, and I think he has the stuff to retire hitters. He'd be a bad starting pitcher full time, other than in the NL, because he is erratic, but he could be productive out of the bullpen in the very near future. He could be a Carrasco type guy.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) It's very nice to win to pick up a game on Cleveland. That's the only race we're in, perhaps to catch Minnie as well. If you dont think we are going to win the division, you should hope for us to lose the rest of the games to improve our draft position.
  5. For those who didnt see the game: Tyler Flowers may have popped out weakly, but he looked VERY good up there.
  6. Carlos Torres baffles the Cubs by pitching exclusively from the stretch, not giving them enough time to pitch up the pitch call being relayed from CF.
  7. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) Did Alexei improve his D the second half of the year? I want to say yes, even though it's tough to say that after the play we just witnessed. He couldnt get a hold of the ball. But he made some nice plays today, event a nice one to his right in the hole.
  8. Alexei really needs to work on his footwork, couldnt get a grip on that thing though Hawk, it wasnt the runner in his way. Great win. I wish we were playing more NL teams.
  9. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) At least I saw a pitch or two of Flowers' first atbat ever. He looks to be a good one.
  10. Q just looks terrible swinging the bat. I just watched Tyler Flowers at bat again, WOW that kid has good strike zone judgement, and his out was a good swing.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) Wise killed that AB by swinging at ball three. I wish he would have just sat there with the bat on his shoulder until strike two. +1, he should realize that he has a better chance at walking than actually making solid contact.
  12. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) I've always liked him and felt he could do the job. He just needs to find a way to avoid these injuries. I also like Nix as well. We have weaknesses, but I think with Ramirez, Beckham, Nix, and Getz we really should be pretty ok from 2nd base over to 3rd for the forseeable future. We have some guys in the minors that could fill in as well.
  13. A-ram goes to the mound, "do you want me to pitch to him, he sucks"
  14. Koye Hill gets the ball down to 2B about as good at Soto. Pretty good for a guy who cut off all his fingers.
  15. Its pretty nice to have Getz back, he adds a dimension to this team that we need.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) He ddin't and K's and Kotsay out stealing kotsay was safe, bad call. Q was so far out on his front foot on that swing.
  17. Fastball down the middle AGAIN Q. WTF!!! He pulled his head WAAAAAY off that ball.
  18. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) The throw was slightly towards the first base side but it was a rocket and got the Cubs runner pretty easily... LOL Soriano...I see why they hate him on the north side 22 million a YEAR
  19. Ha, they didnt show the awful toss to the infield by Soriano there.
