  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 10:43 PM) I have to agree with you Brian, you can't take away a 6-0 record from Iowa or the fact they have won all their games, but I think it's more a statement as to how absolutely horrible the Big 10 is than anything else. They played well at Iowa State (who has been better than I though they'd be, even if they are still mediocre), and they took advantage of Penn State as they always do, but a miracle to beat a 1-AA team, winning by 3 over Arkansas State, and needing 5 turnovers to narrowly clip Michigan in Iowa City isn't exactly impressive. Even watching the Wisconsin at Ohio State game (I don't want to seem like I'm just picking on Iowa here), those are two of the upper echelon Big 10 teams right now and neither of them were exactly overwhelming today either (Wisconsin basically handed Ohio State and their crappy offense a win with horrific defense and special teams). There isn't a single Big 10 team I would consider impressive or dangerous right now, the league is a complete crapshoot. Ohio State will probably win the league though since they always seem to, get to play Iowa at home, and own Michigan, although the road game in Penn State will be tough. Then they'll lose their BCS Bowl and the league will be right back to square 1. Also, LSU was exposed tonight. Florida went into Death Valley at night, just played a field position and defense game, and still dominated and won easily. It's pretty clear that the Alabama/Florida winner in Atlanta will be in the title game again (although I think that team will be Alabama this time). You say you saw the OSU v Wisco game, but you made a very innaccurate statement. Wisconsin's special teams and defense were pretty good for the short time they were on the field. The kickoff team did give up a td, but their punt team was outstanding. What was the difference was the OSU defense, I still think Tolzien is looking for the license plate number of the truck that hit him. He was sacked 6 times which could have easily been double digits. As for the BCS talk, OSU has shwon they can beats USC as it took them an entire game to move the ball once, so if they had them, there's a chance they don't lose that bowl. There is a ton of great YOUNG talent in the B10 and I think its on the way back up. Look at the underclassmen QBs that are leading these teams, Tate Forcier looks like Troy Smith, but as a junior.
  2. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) Hawks just traded Johnson to the Flames for LW Kyle Greentree...I guess that solves it haha Good, I really wasnt crazy about him.
  3. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) Funny how the NCAA reacts quickly about this incident but will drag its feet when it involves a player from a traditional power. I cant recall a situation like this happen before where the NCAA dragged its feet, is there something im missing?
  4. I guess I dont understand why Thornton is perceived as the closer in waiting. I just dont see him translating well to the closers role, why mess with success of where he is today?
  5. Such homers, last nights game was far superior. Back and forth, great defense, good hitting, good pitching and extras. Its not even close actually.
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) That was a turning point in my life, I now fear the hangover. No way I want to be barfing and sweating. Your body just eventually tells you that you shouldnt be a drunk asshole, because each year the next day sucks more and more.
  7. I like Meadow Soprano and all, but that brunette coed is hotter and no guy would have a single problem getting it up for that.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 4, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) Everyone is. People are saying Roach sucks. Are you kidding? He played a great game. Who cares how many points Detroit scored? The Bears scored 24 more. I agree, Roach has been great. Williams wasnt all that good, but Roach and Briggs held down the LB spot pretty well. Briggs made about 99 tackles.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 10:07 AM) I didn't get to see either game this weekend, but have heard good things about Kaner. Hopefully he can stay healthy this year and take that next step. He's on fire, a man possessed.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 11:19 AM) Bingo. Sorry, nobody gives a s*** about tennis and golf and whatever. lol. If that's all you have to hang your hat on you seriously need to find another line of work. I didn't expect a whole lot this year. But what we've seen so far is pathetic beyond words. Illinois is a basketball school anyway.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) Would Big Ten Network replay this game? I'm stuck at work now and missed 4th quarter. Probably.
  12. Forcier reminds me so much of Troy Smith, but he's doing it as a freshman.
  13. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) Michigan looking like s***. Can't get any kind of rythm on offense and their defense is just not good. Fortunately, they are still only one big play from tying the game. But the seven point lead looks much bigger to me right now. MSU has decided to take away the run and thats pretty much been the difference. Mich's defense is getting tired at this point.
  14. Steeger had one of the better saucer passes i've ever seen on Sharp's goal
  15. Peavy is so good and so smart. He's really on another level than most guys.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 07:13 PM) Thats not what Im saying at all. Im saying to be a world class city, the citizens some times have to foot the bill for international projects. If Chicagoans are unwilling to pay $1,000 a person to hold the Olympics, what future international events do you think Chicago will be in the running for? Read international comments about Chicago, many people do not think very highly of it. This was a chance for Chicago to show the world who we are and why we matter. But Im proud of being from Chicago, I think that Chicago is one of the best cities in the world and was the best representative. Im just saddened that there are other people who live in the same city and dont feel the same pride. When you say "Go Rio" you are saying that Rio is greater than Chicago. So if Rio is so great, go ahead and move there. So, you are saying to be a proud Chicagoan, you had to have wanted the Olympics? Now THATS funny.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) I pay them every time I visit. So you dont live here, yet are condemning folks for being upset about the taxes that you wont pay?
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 05:07 PM) The whole "not wanting the Olympics" pre-vote opinion is just a shock to me. Sure, they'll be taxes, but you're going to pay more taxes for repairing stuff later anyway. Why not want the world's greatest athletic spectacle in your backyard just once in your lifetime? The opportunity may never come again. Do you pay chicago and cook county taxes?
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) Little surprised in all the Peavy love he didn't mention Clayton Richard ihas a 1.88 ERA over his last four starts, held the Dodgers to one hit over seven innings in his last start and has allowed 15 hits in his last 24 innings. Richard is 5-2 with a 4.08 ERA and the Padres are 9-3 in his starts. That deal couldn't have been made w/out including Richard? Yes I love Peavy. Yes I'm a Richard fan. Yes I realize 10 posters are now going to shrug off Richard as a prospect because he put up these numbers "in the National League." Yes, it could have been made without Richard, we couldve actually given away a good prospect.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) I kind of wish all the people who didnt support Chicago would move to Rio. Its such a joke to sell out your own city, I just cant stand disloyalty. I dont care if you hate Daley, hate the Olympics, you should represent for your home no matter what. Its shameful and now Chicago looks like an international joke. Of course you are basing that on the assumption that the olympics would be a positive for everyone who is against it in Chicago, which is a pretty broad assumption.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) Are you honestly saying that Daley has made Obama his b****? Because really, that's worse. The mayor of Chicago should hold no sway over the President of the United States. Guess you've never heard the stories about how Kennedy made sure he flew to Chicago as to not upset the older Mayor Daley.
  22. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) I noticed reading the comments on other website that a local media outlet (ABC7) suggested all contracts were already awarded for construction work prior to the announcement of the games. I don't know how common of a practice this is, but does that sound right to anyone? I suppose since all the details were already set up and finalized it wouldn't be an issue, but it just seems strange to me that seven years before the games were to be set in Chicago winning bids had already been accepted. Daley im sure promised ALOT of contracts to his buddies and their buddies. I ran into a guy at the oil express place today that was talking about how he bought up some property on the south side and now has to sell it.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) If you read the thread you posted in, at least some of it, you'd see it wasn't so much surprise we didn't get it. It was surprise we were eliminated first, which NO ONE I have spoken to would have guessed. I'm not talking about us folks, this is one of the most half empty groups of people out there, I wouldnt think that too many folks on here would have gotten caught up in it. I am specifically talking about the people shedding tears on the streets downtown. The people who are so surprised its almost as if Michael Jordan missed a game winning shot.
  24. Good riddance. I think its hilarious how surprised people are that we didnt get it. You mean you believed the US and chicago media that Oprah and Obama were going to put us over the top? Who would have thought! The same sentiments are being echoed in the local news stations of Tokyo, Madrid and Rio during the entire process as well. Do you think those news stations and papers were talking about how great the lakefront in Chicago is?
