QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) Yes, that's exactly what I suggested because its absolutely true. Look, I've read the thread. You hate Huet and think he's terrible. He's not, although I certainly agree that he's played terribly so far this year over the whopping span of 3 games. Over his career, he has proven to be a league average to slightly better than average goal-tender, which given this team's speed and firepower, is all they need. He is vastly overpaid and I wish his skill matched his salary, but it doesn't and that sucks. But that's not his fault, its Tallon's. Ripping on Huet is already getting old and accomplishes nothing. Furthermore, as I've cited, career-wise, Huet's body of work is much more extensive than Toews' and statistically equal to Khabibulin's, so if you're going to ignore all that and condemn him as terrible based on his slow start, than the comparison to Toews is absolutely valid. I don't dispute that Huet will never come close to being the elite player we all hope Toews will be, but that's wasn't even close to my point. The team is kicking ass with Toews not scoring and Hossa not skating. Can we at least wait until a losing streak until we get our undies all in bundle over Huet? This is like reading a "Fire Greg Walker" thread when the Sox are on a roll. Clearly if you think I am super biased against Huet and wont listen to reason then you are misinformed. Huet is well known across the league as a guy with a huge hole in his game. Since he's played for the Hawks, he's shown no ability to correct this flaw. Since you are so adept at trying to show he's the same as Khabby I am guessing that you have actually taken a look at his statistics. In his full seasons of play his save PCT hasnt improved ONE bit since he came into the league. Why? Because he isnt good at adjusting to the way the league is playing him. I also find it pretty hilarious that you call him statistically equal to Khabby. Khabby has logged over 17k saves in the NHL over 683 games. Huet hasnt even played or saved a third of that. So "Career-wise" it isnt even close. I, for one, dont want the Hawks to just make the playoffs, I want them to win the cup, and an "average" goaltender like you mentioned above wont get it done in the playoffs, you need a goalie capable of being shut-down, and at this point Huet doesnt appear to be that guy. Also that was a good effort to try and pigeonhole me into the category of someone who would make a fire greg walker thread when the Sox are winning, but as everyone knows, I dont do that s***.

Trying to publicize their hairbrained idea of a helium air balloon. Nice publicity stunt hilbillies. Now go have another kid and give it a ridiculous name.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) Just suggesting something else for people to gripe and fret about over a team that's 4-1-1 and tied for its conference lead in points. Some people seem to really like that here. No, you were suggesting that we are jumping the gun on huet and it could be like getting on Toews for his slow starts. Then I laughed because Huet will never be close to the player that Toews is. Huet is terrible, his weaknesses are well known in the league and i see nothing but a drop in production as he stays the way he is going forward. He has shown no ability to adjust to the way teams attack him, which is death between the pipes in the NHL.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) I do not understand the hate for Huet. Yes, he got off to bad starts each of the last two years, but so has the guy who wears our "C." I guess we need to dump both of them immediately to have any chance at the Cup. LOL, did you really just compare Toews to Huet?

QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Oct 14, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) You dont get the point im even trying to make here. There's no reason to be calling out Bobby Jenks as lone person who didnt have a great year. Bobby did work on his weight on the offseason and atheltic trainer even said so. Finger pointing one guy out of bullpen does what? Why isn't limbrink in better shape? hell, pena can use whatever he needs to be anything the white sox want him to be. Which one of the other player's performance was directly impacted by their fitness? -

As much as I am excited about this season with the guys on the roster and Turners last season as a buckeye, but 2010 is something that looks so great not only for OSU but for the Big Ten. There is so much talent coming into the conference next year. -

QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Oct 14, 2009 -> 07:44 AM) Jenks, lost weight prior to this upcoming season. Pointing that he's only one needs be in shape is crap. Go tell all members of team they need not to be last in defense when this season comes up. How about we get guys that can score runner from third with less than 2 outs. Ok, lets go tell the all rookie infeld that they should play defense more like vets. Clearly thats something that shows how lazy they are. -

Message sent, but obviously not received quite yet. Get your ass in gear Bobby or you will be dealt. -
QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) pecs, abs, arms, back. all in pain. good pain, but pain nonetheless. sheesh. Nice work. Which set are you on right now? How'd you like the first go round of plyo? I had shoulders and arms today, the one leg chair dips burned me up pretty good.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) Campbell is playing like he somewhat deserves his contract. The Bhawks are screwed when it comes to the cap though for next year. Huet, is what I sadly expected, and that's trash. Huet needs to be dealt somehow, thats the #1 priority IMO.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 09:36 AM) McCoy is not a pro prospect. I'd bet he doesn't go in the first round. He's a shotgun QB 98% of the time. Clausen is a pro-style QB. If you mean what order they'll succeed, I'll change mine. If you meant in what order they will/should go in, I'm keeping mine. Im talking about success possibility. I dont think much of Clausen at all. -
The one in Melrose is pretty good.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) I must say, Brian Campbell's head has been pulled out of his ass for the most part thus far. I think I've been too busy watching Kane light the lamp and Huet sucking the big one.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 07:41 AM) Okay, I love HIMYM but last night's episode was such a horses*** one. It was a complete throwaway. Did nothing for the overall story. Hated it. Like I actively rooted for it to just end. The only redeeming parts was the 'sexless innkeeper' line and Barney's reaction in the last seconds of the episode. What overall story? I thought it was hilarious. Robin and Barney are hilarious together.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) That was quite the game. I missed the 2nd period due to some school stuff but when I checked my phone to see 5-4 with 5 minutes in the 2nd, I was shocked. Overall, I think the the team will be just fine, especially when Hossa returns, but the defenders have been worrisome to me, obviously as well as Huet in goal. I'd gladly deal Barker, one of our young forwards and a prospect for a good defenseman. I like the Keith/Seabrook pairing, and I like Hjalmersson, but Barker and Campbell worry me. Turnovers in our own zone have become a big problem. And how about Kane. Great players make the guys around them better and I don't know if there is a better example of that than Kane and Buff. And finally, paging Mr. Toews. Paging Mr. Toews. Any time you'd like to join the team would be great... The upside of those defensemen however is that they are in on the scoring and its coming in bunches. Barker made some crappy plays yesterday, but turned it around. With a halfway decent goalie in the net you saw what this team can do. Huet is the anchor that could bring this team down. And even though Toews hasnt been scoring, he has been aggressive both ways and it will come with time.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) s*** this stuff is insane. i consider my self in relatively good shape and i can barely finish the p90x workouts if i finish them at all. if i can stick with it i'm expecting pretty great results. It supposed to be hard, in fact your first 30 days will be torture. The goal is to start finishing all of the routines, then actually getting your reps up and sticking with the folks in the vids. BY the end you will be amazed by how easy the first few exercises were like arms and shoulders.

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 07:44 AM) I was at the Hawks game on Friday and I have to say being a newer Hawks fan it is pretty intimidating having so many smart Hawks fans there (atleast in my section). These guys really knew their stuff and it was like they could sniff out guys like me and didnt really respect my fandom. It was pretty funny on the way to Westend on the shuttle after the game. Carmen and Silvy from ESPN were on the bus and everyone was giving them s***. They were really cool about it though. Next time make your way over to Crossroads, awesome burgers.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) And I will say this at the risk of pissing some people off, but hard core hockey fans tend to be the biggest snobs about other fans. I think because the fraternity of hockey fans is smaller, they are more sensitive to "bandwagon" fans than other sports. So true. I think thats also a big reason why some folks find it hard to go to hockey games consistently because its harder to ask someone what icing is than the infield fly.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) I think Wiscy should be ranked. I've also long felt that Iowa and Wiscy are very similar teams and programs. Should be a great game. I hope Stanzi shows up, otherwise I could see you guys beating us by about 10 points. Ultimately it will come down to the defenses though. Can Iowa stop your rushing attack (tough task) and can you guys force Stanzi to have to win the game (I'm hoping to see a good game from Stanzi and above average games from our double-freshman attack). Wisconsin is going to be a tough matchup for alot of teams. Their Oline is good enough that you need a really good pash rush to disrupt their offense. If Tolzien has time he will pick you apart. Their defense is also very tough and their field position game is very good. -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) Huet gives me headaches. I cant stand him. At times he looks worse than a college goalie.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) I think it was a worse league this year, but I admit I'm going to have a hard time ever proving that since last year, the league only won 1 bowl game, and it will be hard to do worse than that. With Michigan being as down as it was last year, its hard to say it was worse as well. It sucks to say, but the B10 is as good as its top teams and in the last few years, that tier has been mighty thin. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) Ahh I see, I put horrific defense on accident when I meant interceptions. My bad, because they actually were very good, and Wisconsin had the ball for like 42 minutes (never seen a team have the ball that long and not only lose, but lose by 18). I refuse to say a unit that missed two field goals (although one was like a 57 yarder, so really one field goal) and allowed a 96 yard kickoff touchdown played well though. And we'll see about the young talent in the Big 10 and being on it's way up. I suppose that's possible, but as for 2009, it's as bad as it's ever been. 2008 was worse, but I get what you're saying. Frankly I think OSU finishes with at least 1 conf loss, most likely 2, so it will be another team in a bowl game reppin the B10
