Here we go..... -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Until Vaz gets the stones and pitches rather than just grooving meatballs down the heart of the plate, he's gonna be the same guy. There is a reason why teams gave up on the guy. He has grade A stuff with no mental makeup to go along with it. Exactly.
-
QUOTE(valponick @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) Vazquez to the pen. Amen.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 12:41 PM) Is anybody else convinced that Vazquez will never become a good pitcher? This guy was a mistake. One of very few that KW has made in a while. Yep.
-
Vazquez sucks. Get rid of the bum.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) I'll counter with Figgens and a top pitching prospect for Garland. I'd give 'em Vazquez & Fields for Figgins & Shields, + another pitcher.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) I really don't think that B-Mac could consistently produce, and apparently neither did Kenny since he made the trade. There's also no way that Young would be on the major league roster. He's simply not ready yet. He wouldn't be on the bench either because he needs at bats to continue his development. KW probably figured McCarthy couldn't be counted on to pitch 200+ innings yet. But now that we're almost at the halfway point, he should be fresh for the second half. I wouldn't expect him to be lights out, but I'm pretty sure he could maintain an ERA at 5.00 like Vazquez, and possibly lower. I get the sense that Javy has a bad attitude and I don't think he fits in well here. While I always liked Contreras, even when he was struggling, I can't warm up to Vazquez. I don't think he's a "winner". I'm just speculating, but I would bet A.J. doesn't think too highly of him right now. As for Chris Young, whether he was on the 25 man roster or in AAA, at least we would have a solid defensive CF in the organization to back up Anderson. If BA were to go down, we'd be in bad shape. We need another competent CFer. Edit: Another point is when KW made that trade both Contreras and Garland were unsigned and were indicating that they were going to be tough to re-sign.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) Overall, there isn't a whit of difference between Freddy Garcia's and Javier Vazquez's numbers this year. Freddie, in fact, is the one giving up the long ball more frequently -- 17 v. 9 for JV. I doubt if Freddy would stand around and watch his catcher get drilled twice and not even pitch inside. Freddy can be frustrating too, but he has shown that he can pitch his way out of trouble even when he doesn't have his good stuff. I would trade Vazquez for Vizcaino and Chris Young right now. McCarthy could go to the rotation and pitch at least as well as Vazquez if not better, Vizcaino would pitch as well as McCarthy out of the pen, and we'd have a good defensive back-up CF.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) A real RF probably catches that triple. Are you saying Dye is not a real RF? Because he wouldn't have gotten to that ball either.

QUOTE(chisoxt @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) I think that by now, we are seeing why this guy has bounced around the majors. The guy has all the talent in the world, but apparently has neither the intelligence or the stones to go along with it. It is maddening to witness the amount of two out two strike runs this guys gives up. Contrast that with Freddy Garcia who manages to find ways to win, even without his best stuff. Frankly, I hope that he can get his win total up so that we can cut our losses on him at season's end. He should be gone by the trade deadline.

Official Ozzie/Mariotti Thread

QUOTE(Contreras @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) I, for one, don't give a damn what he calls Mariotti. Anything said about Mariotti can't be derogatory enough. Jay deserves everything he gets. f*** being politically correct. That's for pussies, anyway. Be a man and support Ozzie! Calling Mariotti a *** is an insult to the rest of the ***s. -
Barrett's suspension upheld

Jay Marriotti is more like Michael Moore.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 08:22 AM) Idiotti said something RIGHT though ............. "Amateurish Major league baseball". MLB are idiots for dragging this on, and giving Dirtbag Barrett only 10 games and likely reducing it simply because he "appeals" it. What BullJunk Yep. MLB is a joke. Barrett already got off easily by getting only ten games for an unprovoked violent physical assault, then it takes forever for the appeal process and he'll probably get his suspension reduced further. A.J. got thrown out of the game and fined for getting sucker punched and not retaliating in any way. Padilla got the message from MLB loud and clear: It's safe to take a cheap shot at A.J. The thing Marriotti and most people in the media are missing is A.J. was the victim here being attacked with the "deadly weapon" not once but twice the other night. Who is going to protect A.J.? What if he gets drilled in Cincy tonight? After that second drilling the other night, the ump should have immediately thrown Padilla out of the game, then warned both sides no further intentional drillings will be tolerated. As it stands, Padilla got two free shots at A.J. with his "deadly weapon" and the Sox and Ozzie are the subjects of media criticism when they didn't even retaliate.

QUOTE(bmags @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) wow i totally read this as riske for javier vazquez... this is neat! Hopefully we trade Vazquez for Shields.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) Sorry, but talking about a guy getting a liner back off the kneecap or off the elbow in unacceptable. I was absolutely embarrassed that he kept going on and on about it, and how if it was him, he would've waited for him outside the locker room or some s*** like that. Have some f***ing professionalism, Hawk. :sigh Damn do I miss Rooney... Notice how D.J. was trying to restore some professionalism, but Hawk would have none of it. Not that I disagree with the sentiments of what Hawk was saying, but it was very unprofessional for the "voice of the White Sox" to be calling for line drives off the ptcher's kneecap and advocating waiting for him outside the clubhouse. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) Maybe Ozzie was screaming into the bullpen phone because maybe Tracey didn't get the message. The real problem here is the Sox are still using that outdated technology--a land line from the dugout to the bullpen. Seeing that it was in Texas, the Rangers probably intercepted the call and relayed the wrong message to the bullpen. They've been known to do things like that--ask Buerhle about the lights in CF. Why don't the Sox use those new-fangled wireless phones like the Cubs? Maybe they could get a deal from Joan Cusack.

Sox @ Rangers, June 14

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) Im sorry. Ross Gload is NOT an outfielder. And I think Ive seen enough of Mackowiak in Centerfield. In Left maybe, but NOT CENTER I agree, but..... IF Ross Gload makes an error in RF tonight, before anyone starts bashing him, remember Dye & Podsednik last night on the "triple" and "double". Thank you. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) Hell, if you've ever even heard the guy talk you'd know that he's not shaken up all that much right now. He's making fun of himself during interviews (great sense of humor) and he realizes he's sucking at the plate but he also knows that he's helping the team win during every damn game he plays in with his defense. I doubt Oz was worried about BA's feelings, he's not Arnie Munoz. You're wrong. http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-sside09.html

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) Funny how it took Ozzie over 2 months and a Rob Mack hot streak to figure out that BA's defense is invaluable to this team, for a guy who believes so heavily in pitching and defense it sure was funny watching an infielder/corner outfielder start at one of the most important defensive postions in the game for so long. Ozzie was more concerned about BA's confidence. He didn't want to ruin the kid.
