I would try to replace both Montgomerys. They need 2 good bats and decent defenders at RF, and LF, move Antonacci to DH, get a competent SS to fill in until Rock comes up, get two legit top of rotation starters and a legit closer. Then they might be a contender. Go into next season with this current roster and they'll be lucky to win 79 games.

Going into next season, the Sox need a new RF, new LF, new SS, Antonacci replacing Beni at DH, 2 top of the rotation starters, and a lock down closer. At least.

Of course he does. But he is adamant about not giving huge contracts to free agent pitchers in their prime. But he has no problem when his GMs want to take on the remainder of huge contracts after the pitchers are all washed up. I just see the irony in it.

The point is Jerry refuses to sign good pitchers in their prime to big contracts, but he Okayed taking on the remaining huge contracts of washed up pitchers like Shields and Castillo, plus trading away players to boot.

It would be sweet if Hudson gets the win tonight.
