  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) Nice response. Don't even try to answer my question. Yeah, I'm really eating crow after only 14 games. Get back to me with Crede's stats at the end of the season. Once again, when did Crede ever have a really good season? No. Crede has not a good solid major league season. Yet.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) Did I read Mariotti? LOL. No. I read him regularly. I may not like what he is saying, but it's good to keep a finger on the pulse of Chicago sports when you are out of town. Editted to add the missing word "not". That kind changes the meaning a bit.
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 02:03 AM) KONG had one bad half a season in 2003 and everyone jumped on his ass demanding he be traded post-haste and look at him now. Crede has had 14 good games and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. If he's still hitting like this in July and August then I'll be impressed. I've been backing Crede all along.
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) Yeah, but when did Crede ever really have a good year? He played only a third of a season in 2002 and he wasn't exactly great in 2003 either. How many times does this argument have to be made on this board. This s*** has been posted over and over again. Give it up. Crede's making you all eat crow and he'll continue to do so. Bon' appetit.
  5. Did anyone read Mariotti's column yesterday? At first glance, it appears to a complimentary column towards Frank Thomas. But, throughout the column, he basically takes a backhanded swipe at everybody on the Sox.
  6. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) Look at his 2004 numbers and tell me why anyone should have thought differently. Crede had a bad year in '04. No doubt about it. Then again, Paulie sucked in '03 and rocked in '04. You have to give a guy a chance.
  7. Yep. People were overreacting to the smallball talk. It's always been about balance. KW did not try to eliminate the power from our lineup. He just wanted to add to the pitching depth, situational type hitters, speed and defense.
  8. The main reason for the overall success (so far) of KW's moves is the increase in pitching depth. Previously, we've had no margin for error if someone struggled or was injured. We've had to use guys like Billy Koch, Mike Jackson, Rick White and our roulette wheel of number 5 starters. That won't be the case in 2005.
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) Well, he will have to keep it up for more than 14 games into the season. But, then again, everybody KNEW he sucked just 3 or 4 games into the season.
  10. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) Mauer is f***in huge...Joe Crede will not be running him over Torii Hunter over Jamie Burke style any time soon. There is more to that equation than size. Positioning and where the ball is plays a big part of it.
  11. After all the b****ing and sqwaking about Joe Crede I've heard around here the past few months, I am THRILLED he's starting to produce and putting a stop to it all.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) OK I got the last two update on there. Leave this thread pinned for a while, please. This could come in handy.
  13. There was a lot of moaning and groaning when Shingo was pitching. Ozzie is handling him perfectly right now. Shingo deserves the chance to pitch his way out of this funk he's in, based on his success last year. But, not at the cost of these big intradivision games. He's got Shingo on a short leash and has had someone in reserve in case Shingo falters.
  14. Way back in this thread, Radke's ball vs strike count was mentioned and it was heavily in favor of strikes. I read earlier in the day that Radke had not walked a Sox hitter since Aug 2003 or something similiarly bizarre. Unreal.
  15. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) If I go to the Cell I am brining flippedoutpunk with me and he would never let anything happen to me, so no worries here Whatever dude. If you want to act like a moronic Cub fan at the Cell, feel free. Just don't say you weren't warned.
  16. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) Pretty sure that wont happen, and if it does someone has some problems if they are going to turn throwing a HR ball back into Assault.. Just saying ... if you bring that crap to the cell, be careful.
  17. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) Of what? Getting ejected?? ohhh nooooo... No. Not of getting ejected. Of getting your ass stomped for making Sox fans look like dorks.
  18. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) also, never seen anyone get ejected for that, and it happens down here too.. As long as you stay in Houston, all is cool. You pull that crap at US Cellular, you are taking a very big risk.

  22. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Throwing the other teams home run ball back is the greatest thing ever, and I wish more people would do it... thats awesome That's a moronic Cub fan type thing to do.

    We have a new pope!

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) On this sort of occasion, we put our differences aside and simply partake in the moment. It is one of those moments you always remember. Sept 11., JFK, John Lennon, sort of thing. I wouldn't say I have any "differences". I just don't have the emotional ties that Catholics have to this scenario. I suspect my reaction is due to the fact that JPII was such an exceptional pope, imho, that I am hoping this one can be half as good. It's like I'm hopefully anticipating that the new Pope can be a healer and a uniter in this world.

    We have a new pope!

    I'm getting chills ... but I don't really understand why I am.

    We have a new pope!

I can't really describe what I feel right now. I'm not Catholic, but this is a MOMENT in history.
