It's ironic that we signed Hermanson as a backup closer, just in case Shingo faultered. Yet, Hendry could have promised him the closers job and didn't even try.
-
I think he's doing precisely that.

Out of all the places you mentioned, the only place I've been is the one you didn't like ... Cancun.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) I would sit down Jermaine Dye from what I have seen of him so far, I would rather have Carl in the field because of his bat. But it wouldnt be too far off to have a rotation going in the OF, with each guy taking the 4th day off. Add DH into that rotation, and each guy plays 80% of the time.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) Is Konerko definately sitting? I heard that he may DH, with Gload at first, and Everett in LF. Maybe it was speculation I read. I read that somewhere as well. I believe Paul will be DH.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 05:50 AM) I don't know about LendingTree, but we just used quicken for our home purchase and regeret it very much. They closed very quickly and the rates were competitive, but literally 1 month after closing they sold the loan out from under us to some lender we have never heard of and never would have used in a million years. Jason might be able to chime in and answer whether this is par for the course for the big lenders. It sucks because we know we have been assessed at too hogh a property tax rate and will need to be fither refunded from the escrow account or have the extra money applied to our principal at teh end of the year. The loan ofricer at Quicken was up to speed on all of this but this new outfit has no idea what I'm trying to tell them. I am really mad. From what I understand, just about all lenders sell their longterm mortgages off. Or am I mistaken about this?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) Ugh. Nascar and all it's glory is rolling into the neighborhood. There's enough f***ing campers to choke smokey the bear. Oh great. I'm heading Dallas tomorrow, so I'll have to hear Earnhardt vs. Gordon arguments all weekend. :headshake

For the record, the answer to that question is NO. You do not have the right to come on this public forum and "spew hate" with discriminatory terms that demean, degrade or insult a group of people different than yourself. ie "backwoods hicks". I should have called you on it when it was first posted, but I decided to let it slide. However, in response to your question, I thought it was possible that you, in fact, thought you could across the board insult anyone that does not live in an urban or suburban area. Now that I have made the point perfectly clear, I would assume that it will not happen again.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Me? I actually saw them a lot but I watch more baseball than your average fan. In fact, I probably saw 7-0 of Peavy's starts. He's exceptional. Just my luck. Anyway ..... you get my point?

your personal worst sports moment
YASNY replied to LosMediasBlancas's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
As a kid, playing pickup hockey, I was a pretty damn decent goalie. One of the older guys I had played against went on to coach in a street hockey league. He remembered me being pretty good, asked if I wanted to play for his team. Well, it had been a few months as these games where being played in late fall. He put me between the pipes, against the best team in the league ... without one minute of practice .... they put a 10 spot on me. :headshake -
NFL Could Boot College Bowls Out of New Year's Day
YASNY replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I don't see why the NFL should have to move their games for NCAA football. The networks are obligated to show the games so they couldn't just choose. If the NCAA doesn't want to go head to head against the NFL, which apparently they don't, they move to Jan 2. -

Winning intra-division road games is HUGE. I don't care if it is only April. Considering these wins are coming against the Twins and Indians make them that much bigger. -
QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) I was sitting here watching the Cardinals-Reds game and the Reds were up 6-5 in the ninth there were men on second and third with one out and with first base open they int walked Larry Walker to load the bases for Albert Pujols and guess what he did hit into a frickin Doulbe play. Interesting strategy. If the game had been tied, they would not have much of a choice. But since it wasn't they could have taken the chances with Walker and pitched around Pujols. I think they made the right call, though. This was a case "pick your poison". Either guy is dangerous, but putting Walker on does increase your chances of getting a DP, or even a force at the plate. Walker, batting with first open, has more of a chance to hurt you than Pujols with the force at any base scenario.

I never liked Scully, but I recognize that it's all me. I guess it's a matter of personal taste in broadcasters, but he almost puts me to sleep. Tim McCarver always seems to say stupid s***, and then get his ass handed to him by what happens in the game. How this guy ranks so high, I haven't a clue. As for Jack Brickhouse, I always liked him even though he bled Cubby blue. I guess it's because I grew up listening to him do both Cubs and Sox games. Don Drysdale at 63? I'd rate him over Hawk, and I like Hawk a lot. Personally, I'd put Jack Buck number 1.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 02:41 AM) Wouldn't that just be awesome if timo led off tomorrow? I know Ozzie has been just plugging guys in the lineup in place of the regulars to keep everybody else in a comfort zone, with which I have no problem. However, I see this as an opportunity to help Rowand get out of his little funk. He's always hit well at leadoff or number 2. Plug him in either spot and let Iguchi handle the other one, move AJ and Crede up a spot and put Timo in at 8 ... or... Uribe at 8 and Ozuna at 9. -
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 02:29 AM) A.J. brought some attitude for our division rival last night. After Pierzynski threw out Coco Crisp at 2nd base in yesterday's game, he turned and gave a look to the Indians' dugout. The commentator inferred that A.J. mouthed to the Indians' dugout, "YES! Alright, keep sending 'em!" He was obviously mad that the Indians kept running on him. You can watch the clip at WhiteSox.com. The clip is labeled "Pierzynski catches Crisp:". I love it! AJ's attitude was the biggest reason I was in favor of signing him. I love a guy that plays with a chip on his shoulder. It also seems to give the whole team an attitude. It's something that builds over time and gets more pronounced. The chip on the shoulder can turn into a swagger, a mindest that sends the message to the other team that they are going get beat.

With Ozuna being such a competent backup, keeping Podsednik on the bench until he's healthy is absolutely the only way to go.
