At the time Paniagua was brought in the game, I didn't have a problem with it. It was an attempt, with a 6 run lead, to save some other members of his pen. I did question why it was Paniagua, though. I think he would have been my last choice, at that time, remembering that I wouldn't want to use Gordon or Marte if at all possible. But after the first two hitters, yes he should have been pulled. Someone should have been ready to go at the time JP was called in from the pen. I do question these two aspects of that 9th inning, but not the fact that JM tried to finish the game without using Marte,Gordon or get more from Sullivan or Schoeny.

Ok ... it was shaky, but we did get a win and another game up on the damn Twins. I'm outta here for now. I'll be back in the wee hours, as always. -

I still think Koch will be an important member of the White Sox. But, that's next year. -

That Crawford homer put us in a tailspin that almost did us in for the season. -

If JM is pulling Sulli, it's because he's had a good outing. Puts a feather in his cap, and takes some pressure off. Move makes sense to me. -

With a fresh Marte and Gordon in the pen, it would not be a bad time for Koch to make an appearance. -

Carlos has been great almost all year. But Loaiza, to me, is team MVP. -

That is the biggest reason I believe in this team. As Frank Thnomas goes, so go the White Sox. he wants a ring. Personal stats, for the first time in his career, don't mean squat to him. -

I had just finished working a midnight shift and had arrived home shortly before the first plane hit. I was checking my email and half ass watching the Today Show when the first plane hit. Wanting hard news and not fluff, I switched to CNN and followed the story from there. Several times in the time frame between when the planes hit the towers, I tried to come up with a reasonable explanation as to how this could accidentally happen. I, at one point, went to my kitchen to get something to drink, and as I hit the bottom of the stairs returning to me basement family room, I turned the corner just in time to see the second plane in that split second before it hit. The word terrorists jumped to my mind before that plane hit that building. That had been the only reasonable explanation for the first plane that I had found up to that point. Please, take that word "reasonable" in the context in which is was intended. Then the first of the towers collapsed. The helplessness that I felt at that moment was overwhelming. I knew thousands had to have died at that moment, as opposed to hundreds from the plane crashes. Watching it fall was a case of not believing what you know is actually happening. After comprehending what just happened, then came the realization that the other tower could go as well. So, it was a matter of watching, hoping, praying, waiting to see if we could get it evacuated in time. Intermingled with all of this was the news of the Pentagon "bombing", as it was originally reported and the Pennsylvania place crash, in which, as we later found out, several more heroic Americans died. My parents were returning from a "road trip" and due home at 10 A.M. CDT. When I called them, they weren't aware of any of the mornings events had transpired. I remember saying at one point, "Turn on the TV. Both towers of the World Trade Center are on the ground." One final note. September 11, 2001 would have been my late son Mickey's 20th birthday. I guess the rest of you now share that date with me every year as a highly emotional day. I just have a little more to deal on that date than most of you, but it is part of the ongoing healing processes.

Thanks for making that connection.

You better face the fact that the Cubs have a very good shot at winning their division. After this series with the Expos, the Cubs play Reds, Mets & Pirates the rest of the way out. The Astros and Cardinals get to beat up on each other for 6 games. Beyond the that, houston has the Brewers, Rockies and Giants. St. Louis plays Brewers, Rockies and D'Backs. The Cubs have already put a major hurting on St. Louis and have really hust the Cards chances. But if Cards and Stros beat up on each other, with Houston having that tough series against the Giants, the Cubs should be able to coast right in. This might be a Loooooooooong off season if the Sox can't put these Twinkies down for the count.

Regarding the title of this thread.... That happens all too rarely, at times. Bmr, about your analysis. Not bad at all. However, I must point out that it is still nothing but an educated guess, at best. That is why your crystal ball was mentioned, I'd venture to guess. What it all comes down to, is that from this point of time through the end of the season we have to win as many games as the Twins, regardless of what order they occur or who they are played against. If we can match their win total in the remaining 19 games, the division is ours.
