  1. I love the people in this thread that hate Boers and Bernsie, yet like Carmen. He's the most arrogant, condesecending ass you'll ever find when talking about the NBA, he thinks he invented the game, which since he thinks Skiles is a good coach, he obviously didn't.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) Um, Steve Nash is like really good. Dude's got 20 assists -- with 3 minutes left in the third quarter. However, they're up 30. So he probably won't play much in the 4th. MVP! He's a baller, but you take him off that team, and they are still really good. The talent level they have with Amare healthy is simply not fair.
  3. I really wish Scott Skiles would get fired, and we had lauched Kirk after his contract expires. Those 2 are sabotaging the team so badly, and it's a shame because we have a young and talented 2 guard that's taller than 5'11 on the bench, and Gordon has actually looked good at the point, but we have to keek Kirk and Duhon there. And you know coach, that 6'9 guy with a 7 foot wingspan and the best hops in the league on the bench might help the rebounding problem, you know, the top 5 pick last year? Yeah him.
  4. I'm not sure what games all the Scott Skiles lovers in the local media watch, because I watch or go to every game, and he's a bad coach on a consistent basis.
  5. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 01:09 PM) I don't think that's too big an issue, he's been a pretty dominant player so far even at less than 100%. Durant could turn out to be the better player, but I seriously doubt Oden is a stiff in the pros. He's already better than a lot of big men in the league... I agree, but he could be a really good big man and still have whoever picks Oden regret it. Durant is unreal.
  6. At least his team spent money when they go 76-86 behind their clown crap roster full of overpaid fools. I wish I had that and 99 years of failure to fall back on, it must be great to be a Cubs fan.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 10:03 AM) It's not the stars fault they are hounded. It's the group of the public that wants and buys the trash that's dug up. Bonds is not to blame for those with such pathetic lives that they have to dig in his garbage. Those that do the digging and buy the s*** are. Come on Steff, your way too smart to defend these fools. This isn't a shocker though, the Bonds news that is...won't be the last test we found out he failed.
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) Get used to it, Matt. There's more ass kickings to come. Hopefully Moore, Hummel, Martin and Johnson realize that the Hoosiers will be ready to own you all again next season as well. Now I just can't wait until we play Iowa. Who knew a conference home win against an unranked team could get fans so pumped up that they diss a really good recruiting class lost to Purdue due to the 479 illegal phone call recruiting sanctions. Illinois is still atrocious, but at least beating Iowa is still a given. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 04:48 AM) Kevin Durant > anyone not named Oden in college basketball If Oden isn't as good as adversited, whoever takes him #1 over Durant in the draft in June will regret it. Durant's skill set is unreal, like a combo of Garnett and McGrady.
  9. Ahh this is why I love college hoops. I wake up, and NIU has a 9 game losing streak and tons of injuries. I get home from the game, and we're tied for 1st in the MAC at 1-0 after an exciting home win in a rivalry game, over Western Michigan. The same WMU that beat Virginia Tech (who won at Duke today) on a neutral floor. So from 9 game losing streak, to 1st in the conference and better than Duke in 12 hours. Still too many guys hurt though, lol.
  10. Rough day for Iowa too, both of their top RB recruits are gone, as Clay to Wisky was announced, and in the other all star game on ESPNU, Dale Martin verballed to Louisville.
  11. Wow, what a game. The prince from UCLA whose name I know but can't spell hits a 3 to tie it with 22 seconds left, now Oregon (who only has 1 loss) gets a jumper from Brooks to go up 2 with 14 seconds left. Shipp for the win, no good. And the #1 team in the land falls at Oregon, and here comes the student section. And DePaul follows up a horrible, horrible road loss at St. John's with a nice road win at Villanova, continuing their consistently inconsistent play this season.
  12. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) There were 3. And the only one that was highly interested in us was Donald. Enlighten me. Loss of recruit, denial of interest. And trust me, as a follower of Illinois basketball and recruiting, I know the strategy when I see it.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) This isn't surprising. When the Illini were trailing in the middle of the 2nd half against powerhouses like Idaho St. and Florida A&M, you could tell something was wrong. Bruce Weber is the worst recruiter among the BCS basketball programs, and it's catching up to him. I agree, but when a team comes to your house and shoots 34 percent and you STILL lose by 18, that's an embarassment beyond comprehension.
  14. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) Illinois loses to Iowa, goodbye tourney chances Those are in trouble even with a win over Iowa. And even if they make the dance, it'll be a quick exit.
  15. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 04:45 AM) Yeah? Your opinion is better than others? Ok. Not ALL others, just most. Just like I'm not smarter than everybody else, just most people. There are certainly people that are as great as me, and a few of them have posted in this very thread.
  16. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 10:19 AM) The current recruiting class seems to be loaded with "athletes". They can't all see the field on offense, can they? I'd think he'd have to give some of them to the defense in this situation. That said, don't get me wrong, I agree with your premise. Defense needs to become a priority. If Minter can't coach defense with what he has, he sure as hell better start being able to recruit better defensive players. The head coach doesn't do all the recruiting. The fact that several defensive recruits ALL turned down Notre Dame today on Notre Dame's own network (NBC) in a game organized by ND's biggest cheerleader (Lemming) spoke volumes to me.
  17. Bruce, your seat continues to warm. You better get somebody in recruiting, because today's exposition of your Valley level recruits on your own floor was a joke.
  18. So much for this being a Notre Dame commercial, but then again, these are all defensive prospects, so who can blame them all for turning down Notre Dame.
  19. If you don't enjoy their show, your probably one of the idiotic callers that they rightly make fun of to no end. It's must hear radio, great show.
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 01:33 AM) Weis' Achilles Heel, he doesn't know jacks*** about defense and has to rely fully on a guy who's lone head coaching experience was getting fired at Cincinnati U. His D coordinator should be fired yesterday for the last two season's of mediocrity. Plus, you know Weis is gonna put all the fast, skill guys on offense to be his little toys in the system, and the defense won't get much. That defense will remain slow and mediocre unless they fire the D coordinator AND Weis gives the defense some of the talent.
  21. Of course there are a ton of ND and potential ND guys in the game, Lemming makes that game a ND recruiting commercial every year. It's the ultimate conflict of interest of all time. And if Clay doesn't end up at Wisconsin, I'd be shocked.....Wisky doesn't lose in state guys to anybody, let alone Iowa.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) I should add, if Cyrus Tate plays like that, Iowa is a borderline top 25 team. Funniest thing in this thread. Also, as I said the day he lost Gordon, Bruce has 2 years to prove something in recruiting or show results similar to what he did with Self's guys, or he should be fired. Period.
  23. Either it'll work out like some of the other cheap veteran moves the Twins made last year (bad) OR he'll be ridiculous due to a streak of Twins luck, and then Flash will blame the White Sox lack of South American scouting for it.
  24. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 11:40 PM) And that has NOTHING to do with whether they deserved a BCS bid THIS year. You can't be that ignorant, can you? Or are you just trying to avoid the argument? Avoid what argument? I was making a general point. THIS year, they probably deserved a BCS bid since the system is stupid with the 3 team rule, but there have been years where they got to bowls they had no business in, and got killed as a result.
  25. Wow, this is a stat....87 different 1-A teams have won a bowl since Notre Dame's last win, and their 9 game bowl losing streak is now an all time record, passing their tie at 8 with South Carolina. That is obviously a big part of them being ND and getting into bowls they shouldn't be against superior teams, but wow.
