  1. It's his dad, I don't know how u can blame him. Plus, Juice and McGee are both pretty good, young prospects.
  2. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-r...p&type=lgns That's actually a good deal for them IMO, he's a horse and only 28 years old. Krivsky accidentally gets one right.
  3. 4 star Devonte Campbell of Maryland announces this evening. Believed to be a 2 horse race between Maryland and Illinois, and he'd be a nice round out to the class.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 01:54 AM) Just can't play on the road..... Winner. What a collapse those last 2 minutes or so. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) Gordon chokes as usual and PJ Brown is old. Gordon? The stupid ass flagrant by the pride of KU is what started the tailspin.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 12:28 AM) Zags about to knock of Stanford, really surprised to see this. The Chicago kid, Jeremy Pargo, did whatever he wanted all game, just like Heytvelt did when they upset UNC. It's all about the matchups. As for Oden, I've been hearing for a while he might stay in school, and it's even more possible with that wrist and the fact he'd have to fight to go #1 this year. What he does might depend on what some others guys like Conley do.
  6. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 11:41 PM) It's REALLY early to say whether they are wrong or not. Right now Durant appears to be better, but that's not what they're worried about. If 10 years from now Durant is basically McGrady and Oden is basically Duncan, the big guy is going to win out. It doesn't really matter if they're wrong or not, they have the ultimate say on who goes #1, which is the whole argument. Yes, Durant can easily be the better player, just like Jordan was better than Olajuwon, but that doesn't change who went #1 in the draft. That's an entirely different argument. Most GM's are going to take the guy who could be the next great center because those guys are in pretty short supply, especially a guy that is already as good defensively as Oden. Yeah, fair enough. That is all accurate, and Oden is going to go #1. I'm just saying....Durant, I've never seen anything like this guy.
  7. Having seen Oden play 7 or 8 times now, he's not nearly aggresive enough on the glass and his offensive game is much more raw than advertised in the post, but his presence on defense is crazy good. Now I know that sounds eerily like Patrick Ewing at Georgetown (and I think the comparision will hold a lot of water over the years), but I've never seen anything like Durant pre NBA in my life, outside of LeBron.
  8. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 31, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) The scouts say different, Oden has been the consensus #1 the whole time and nothing appears to be changing. Teams are going to take the big man over the perimeter player pretty much regardless. Yes, Durant is a potential star and right now is the best player in college basketball, but teams don't pass on athletic 7-footers. The scouts can say whatever the hell they want, but they are dead wrong. Just like they were about Ryan Leaf, Sam Bowie, Stromile Swift, Michael Olowokandi, etc. Actually that's a bad analogy, because I think Oden will be a very good pro. But he has not nearly lived up to the hype at all, and Durant is unreal. And wow Seth Davis is an idiot. POY is once again a 2 horse race, this time between Durant and Tucker. As for Durant, I'd say he's the best college player since Glenn Robinson at Purdue, at least based on waht i've seen.
  9. DePaul turns a 21 point 2nd half lead into a mere 3 points at the 1 minute mark of the game, but holds off UConn 66-58 behind 26 points from, of all people, Draelon Burns.
  10. Let me make it clear again: Kevin Durant is THE #1 pick in this draft. Greg Oden is going to be really good, but a combo of McGrady and Garnett doesn't come along too often. 38 and 23, on the road, against a red hot Texas Tech team, as a true frosh, at 6'10. WTF.
  11. I didn't think it got any more abominable in terms of basketball than Illinois vs. Indiana, but Illinois vs. Michigan State did it with that Illini FT shooting. At least it's 2 needed wins though.
  12. Man I wish I had the time to do this sort of thing. I have a very close friend that lives about a 10 minute drive from Dolphin Stadium, but I can't miss all that class.
  13. Ahh a poll after the heart of Boers and Bernstein. There is no question about it, he's the best long snapper ever. Period.
  14. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) Heh, been trying to stay away from the basketball talk for a while, but just a few things... 1) Deng is NOT extremely good at guarding anybody. He simply does not have the foot speed to keep up with true scoring SFs, and he gets pushed around an awful lot because dude is built like Gumby. I'm not expecting people to be experts when it comes to judging defensive talent, but come on. Deng has the wingspan to make it hard for people to put up shots over him, and he can certainly defend the passing lanes, but he ain't gonna stop penetration, and he certainly can't hang with dudes that want to body him up. But it's funny, because Ben Gordon is so ungodly awful that he makes Deng look like a superior defender. I know that Bulls fans still ain't seeing it.... 2) Gasol is a top 5 scoring C in this league WITHOUT QUESTION. The guy could score 22 to 25 per game in the right system. Have you ever watched him play? I mean, have you ever really watched him? Jordan, this is some BS, man. Wallace has been incredible this year as far as I can tell. I know that I'm not getting the same games as everyone else. He is a Top 10 defender in the history of this game, but the minute he puts on a Bulls uniform, he's a bust? What's amazing is that people here can be so incredibly on-point when it comes to baseball, but the minute they try to talk basketball, it's just a bunch of crap. See the Tyson Chandler discussions. See the blind Ben Gordon love. It's so incredibly non-heterosexual (sorry Rex). Ahh I missed you Hammer. Some points: 1. Your 100 percent right on Deng, but a SF that can score 20 and grab 6 or 7 rebounds a game at age 21 is a valuable commodity. 2. Your also right about Ben Gordon's defense, but he's been a lot more consistent on offense this year and is actually getting others involved. I'd still trade him for something nice, but i'm a lot more reluctant, especially with the way Hinrich has shot (awful) this year. 3. I like Gasol quite a bit when healthy, but Memphis wants 2 young guys AND the pick for him. There is no way in HELL I'd do that. None. 4. Wallace has been amazing, in the 27 to 30 games of 43 he's shown up. There is no doubt when he asserts himself he's still a dominant force, but there have been about a dozen games where he simply did not care, and that is just maddening since he came in with the whole "blue collar, play balls to the wall all the time" reputation. Maybe it's his age though, I think he's gonna be HUGE in the playoffs, and to call the whole deal a bust is nuts. 5. Tyson Chandler is still wasting his talents. He's 7'1 with about a 8 foot wingspan and major hops, which is why he gets so many blocks and rebounds, but he still can't catch, he still can't shoot, he still can't score, he still isn't a very good on ball defender (if YOU watch the games, you know his blocks are almost all cherry pickers when the guard gets beat off the dribble...which is his job, but still, his defense on HIS man is average). With that siad, 12 rebounds and 2 or 3 blocks a game will get on on the all defensive team a lot.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) When Big Ben shows up and plays 100%, he can still take over a game. I honestly think he's been taking it easy for a big part of this season so far though. The last 2 games, Dallas and Miami, were big games, and he showed up big in both of them. I'm hoping that's the Ben we see come playoff time. Agreed 100 percent, which is why i've beeen sooooo pissed at him. Good to hear there isn't structure or ligament damage though, but we'll see some Tyrus here while Ben is out, which isn't bad IMO.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 12:57 AM) Wesley Johnson is the best freshman in the Big 12. Not named Kevin Durant, that is. I could make a case that Kevin Durant would be the best player, RIGHT NOW, on the Bulls, who are tied for 1st in their division and 1/2 game out of the best record in their NBA Conference. I've never seen a freshman like him, not even Carmelo. He's like a combo of McGrady and Garnett.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 12:53 AM) What do they mean Borchard was a failure, to some extent? The best thing he did was get traded. I assume they mean he can't be a total failure since we turned him into a lefty bullpen arm that throws 96 to 100.
  18. I would contest that the fact it was only a "slight bit of scolding" eliminates Steff from the equation.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 11:53 PM) During the Bulls game they said sprained knee. They didn't give any prognosis though. The way I saw it, MAYBE we'll get lucky and he just twisted it pretty bad. But I am very concerned about an ACL or MCL with the way it went down.
  20. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 12:33 AM) Just remember, this team is better off without Dee and James. I was wrong about James, but this team has still gotten better PG play without Dee (well, except for today). Either way though, it'll take at least 2 or 3 years to dig out of this hole.
  21. I'm usually more a KW fan than Buehrle, but KW was over the line with what he said. Good to see he is man enough to admit it.
  22. Bulls win a hard fought game 100-97 over Miami at the UC (I was there). Almost blew a 14 point lead after 1, Heat actually took a 2 point lead with like 3 mins left, but Ben and Kirk were on it all night and made the plays to win it at the end. Man it's fun beating the Heat, but Big Ben screwed up his knee pretty bad late in the game. I haven't heard anything yet since I just got back, but I'd assume it's at least a sprain and they will have to do an MRI to make sure there is no damage. That would be REALLY bad if there is because Ben did play really well tonight, plus if he's hurt, it makes the Bulls seem even more desperate for a big in a trade.
  23. Boy, I'm glad I was wrong about Chester Frazier and Marcus Arnold being fill in desperation players that Illinois only got after 300 other people turned the Illini down. I'm pretty sure it's a lock Bruce is toast after the 2008 season at this rate. Only a couple wins left on this years schedule, and it will only get MUCH worse next year. This team would have such a bad record if not for the PATHETIC OOC. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) What are people's thoughts on DJ and next year? He's averaging 14.2 points and 7.3 boards on the season (not blow away numbers I know). It's weird, I just averaged his conference totals, and they're right on par with that (14.9 and 7.4). It just seems like he's playing a lot better with each game, maybe it has something to do with the competition. He's not on the board for this year or next on NBA Draft sites; however, I know he really wants to go. I wonder if he'd go, regardless when he got pick, or if he'd like to be as close to the top as possible. I'm kind of nervous about it right now. I'd really love to see him play with EJ, as that could make for a scary tandem. I guess it basically comes down to how IU and he does come March. Does anyone have any reassuring or not so reassuring thoughts? He'd be an idiot to go IMO. He's a VERY good college player, but he'll never make it in the NBA, just not nearly good enough. I doubt he'd even get drafted, ESPECIALLY in this draft, so I wouldn't worry.
  24. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 27, 2007 -> 12:42 AM) Just think, Paxson gave away JR Smith so he could sign Griffin too. Don't even get me started on that, ESPECIALLY since we could use 1 more guard right now. That was a case where the "character guy" bull s*** REALLY hurt us.
  25. If the Bulls give up Deng AND Thomas for the fragile Spainyard, I give up on thinking Pax has done a great job. That would be so bad, UGH. Any and all trades should revolve around Hinrich, Nocioni, and PJ Brown, end of story, IMO. You CAN NOT trade Gordon (he's shown he can play the 1), Thomas, or Deng. No no no. And that was a TERRIBLE trade by Miami (I said that from day 1 though). I know they won a ring, but: 1. It had almost nothing to do with broken down Shaq. That was all D Wade, a Dallas gag, and the refs. 2. Shaq's contract is going to kill them for years. 3. Can you imagine that team with Haslem, Butler, Odom, Wade, and Mourning? Yeah, that coulda won something anyways. And due to those factors, that team has very little besides Wade, Haslem, Dorrell Wright as a future guy, and a broken down old Shaq along with Mourning. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) At this point, the Bulls have so much depth that they can afford to dump 3-4 players in a single deal and still be all right. That depth is a myth IMO. Duhon sucks, Sweetney is bigger than a whale and couldn't jump over 2 nickels, Khryapa is AWFUL, Malik Allen can't do anthing except hit 15 foot jump shots (which even I can do), Andre Barrett blows, Adrian Griffin blows, and Skiles won't play the 2 rooks for some reason.
