  1. The confusion is easy. What I was told by somebody who would DEFINITELY know is that somebody saw the car all screwed up in the lot for the apartment complex and she called 911 before Jamar did, which goes along with what Kent Brown is now saying. However, he also says Jamar never called 911 AT ALL, which is even worse than what I was told. I was told he called 911, but after the witnesses (which is still possible, but Brown didn't want to admit it. We may never know that.) AT LEAST Brian is going to make a full recovery however, that made my day hearing it officially.
  2. Jamar is in Peoria, btw, he got the heck out of town and hired that lawyer as soon as Brian's condition was upgraded out of critical and it was clear he'd live. I just wonder if he'll ever be back to Champaign....
  3. Mr. Gyroball is going to be a big letdown, but Boston will win the division if their other starters stay healthy and the kids in their pen step up. I think #2 will play out, I have doubts about #1.
  4. Random Observation: "Crappy" Cincinnati only finshed 3 games behind the World Champs and led the NL in runs for a large part of last season.
  5. Well, the fact that the attorney Jamar hired is a borderline legend downstate for his defense of DUI cases makes me feel a lot better about this. /sarcasm And again, these people I talk to actually work FOR the school, they aren't from the illini board. The only time I've been lead astray with this kind of hard info was the Eric Gordon thing, and even BRUCE had no idea on that thing until the day it became official. I hope this is the 2nd time I've been lead astray though, this would be horrible. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) I wouldn't doubt for a minute that Jamar was being a f***ing idiot. I wonder if he'll actually be prosecuted on campus though given the history of slaps on the wrist. If what is apparently accurate based on what I know is actually proven correct, Jamar not only is gone from Illini hoops forever, he's going to jail.
  6. The best line in this, by far, is "MAKE SOME NOISE FOR MR. BELVIDERE!!! ERR I MEAN MR. BELDING!!" Fortunately, I turned away before spitting out pop laughing. And 2 other things, first of all, this is the type of stuff that is why youtube is the best site ever, second, if there is a "thread title of the year" award around here, this should be a LOCK!
  7. This is why when people say they want athletes to be honest, they don't REALLY mean it. Gotta seperate the athlete and the person, because sometimes they couldn't be anymore different.
  8. I haven't thought that BC team was any good all year (and certainly not since the suspensions), Al Skinner has done a great job getting the most out of them. Duke really tried to blow it tonight too, I still don't think much of them either, and haven't all year. As for DePaul....the level of wild inconsistency they have shown the last 2 seasons (ESPECIALLY this year) makes me think Wainwright is a lousy coach. Inconsistency is the greatest and most obvious sign of bad coaching IMO.
  9. White Sox fans will let go of 2005 as soon as Cubs fans let go of "WE WERE ONLY FIVE OUTS AWAY in 2003!!!11111" (aka, when we win again). I think we'll be letting go of ours first, if you pardon the expression.
  10. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) Just give the bears a new Safety or TE Leon Joe is our main backup at LB, Lance Briggs might be near a contract dispute/outright being gone, and our offensive line has four guys nearing AARP status starting on it, with our #1 backup being John "the swinging gate" St. Clair. Give me LB and OL help, please.
  11. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 06:19 PM) An Illini sports player doing something stupid? Shocking! I hope they both get healthy and if there was any inappropriate activities by either of them that the UIUC hangs them high instead of the slap on the wrist McBride suspension. I'm not for sure on this (and no, I didn't get this from any message boards, I actually KNOW people down there that I talked to, just for the record), but there is a reason for the following: 1. Nobody has said this was just a tragic accident due to bad weather. 2. Jamar hired an attorney and jetted back to Peoria ASAP after release from the hospital. 3. The police aren't saying anything. 4. They weren't coming home from any sort of official team related anything at that time. 5. There are all kinds of pictures and witness accounts from the apartment about a lot of things after Jamar got there and 911 was called. Now that's the speculatory part, and the futher stuff I know I won't post since that is speculation too. But I will say that folks down there are saying it'll take a couple weeks or so to figure out what the blood/toxicology results say, but Jamar is known to like to tip a few and well.....yeah I don't need to say anymore obviously, except I don't think Carlwell is going to be in an legal trouble at all. Man I hope I'm wrong though, and before anybody says it, the whole reason internet message boards exist is speculation, so don't kill the messenger.
  12. I saw Carlton Fay play 3 times during a tournament up here near NIU (it was during break, but I made the short drive from home in Aurora to see it). He is really, really good, typical mid major big man and you guys will love him down there. He even has decent range on the jumper too.
  13. Yeah, Lunardi's bracket doesn't matter until he releases his last one. I agree with him that as of TODAY, only three Big 10 teams will get in, however based on all things involved, it's certain a 4th one will emerge and get a bid.
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) The weirder thing, from what I'm reading, is that Smith drove home and went inside after the accident, and Carlwell was still in the car. That is very strange, my only LOGICAL thought is they didn't have a cell or the cell just broke in half in that crash (the 2nd being more likely) and he panicked, along with the head trauma messing with his head, and drove home since it was a blizzard. However, I have a bit more knowledge of the situation now than I did earlier today, and with that said....well I won't speculate too much, but Jamar could have issues far worse than leaving an accident scene, and if what I heard is potentially true plays out that way, Jamar's Illini career could be over. I just hope Brian's isn't, thank God he's in fair condition now.
  15. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6466010 (From his article "Offseason Winners and Losers") Now I'm not normally Cuck the Fubs esque, Cub hating obsessed. HOWEVER, this offseason of hearing how bad we are when we aren't, and how good the Cubs are when they aren't has made me a bit annoyed. I can't wait until Memorial Day and the Cubs boners around here see this common sense play itself out. Enjoy 4th or 5th place, kids.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) Jordan created basketball, everyone knows that. Jordan PERFECTED basketball, he CREATED the term "quite naturally".
  17. I don't know how this is THAT suspecious. He was driving a 12 year old Lexus his grandpa gave him, those things SUCK in snow, and there you have it. And 11:30 PM is practically sunset for a college student, let alone athlete probably coming home from working out. If this were a Friday night, I'd be far more suspecious. The one thing that is odd is he drove the thing after the crash, but he had a concussion and the weather was really bad and who knows, panic sets in.....at least they are both alright. But I'll give Jamar the benefit of the doubt for now, this isn't as cut and dry looking as the infamous apartment stereo incident with Luther and Rich. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) This team would suck healthy....cmon!! Not this year they wouldn't, which is why it has been so maddening.
  18. Oh no, please don't tell me Jimbo was arguing that Collins is better than Augustin from Texas. Come on man, your smarter than THAT I would hope, but then again if he is arguing KU had something to do with the creation of basketball, he's out of his mind too. The first game of basketball was played at a YMCA in the Boston area with 2 peach baskets, EVERYBODY knows that.
  19. Well he kills lefties, and when I yelled "please don't hit a homer off Buehrle again!" at him from the 3rd row during pregame stretches last June when he was with Cleveland, he laughed at me and waved....plus I believe he was the guy that fell running out of the box and then took a bow to a laughing and cheering crowd last September for Seattle. Thus, it's pretty clear he's a real good guy, and with that and how he hits lefties, hell maybe we'll get something out of him.
  20. If it's worth paying all the guys that suck that they paid this offseason, it's worth it for the Cubs to give Zambrano a blank check IMO. Now WILL they do it?? Probably not, they'll dump him for a bad return. That's why they are the Cubs.
  21. They should have fired him originally. Now by doing this, all the good coordinators are gone (they could have just kept Cameron or Wade as head coach) and whoever they hire will have nobody left for a staff. Odd and bad timing.
  22. I know Jamar a little bit since he was pretty cool with a friend of mine at Richwoods, and we're all about the same age, and I met Carlwell at a game in Champaign last year he was visiting for recruiting. Couple of really nice kids, a sad story, obviously moreso with Brian since he's hurt pretty bad. Prayers out for a recovery. This has just been the season from hell injurywise, I think these guys deserve a pass for this season. As bad as some recruiting has been, this team would have been better if not for bad luck. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 07:54 AM) And they looked awful in the process Santa Clara is a good ballclub though, they are 9-2 in league to Gonzaga's 8-3 and have the inside track to an outright WCC Title. That game also would have been different if Heytvelt wasn't an idiot and were still playing, but Gonzaga is obviously way down this year. I don't like their chances Saturday with Memphis visiting the Kennel.
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) i still think the Raiders of a few years back was one of the worst teams of all time. Better than the bears: indy (playoff indy) San Diego Pats (tie IMO) I think Baltimore was better too, despite their showing against the Colts. That defense was nasty, and I still think they beat the Colts if they don't panic and abandon the run (Lewis had like 95 yards, but only 18 carries IIRC).
  24. Thanks. I seem to have a great birthday every other year (odd years) and based on how well today is going, that trend seems to live on. Either that, or maybe it's because the good birthdays have been the ones where I'm not single, and thus this isn't a coincidence. Anyways, this board is a blessing since it's the place where I can vent all of my anger off from sports (SEE: most threads) and avoid having my friends and family in real life see it. God bless the internet.
  25. I have a myspace with about 400 comments and like 150 of my friends on it, but it's like abandoned now due to the rise of facebook, which is far more active and is what I check more often now. Haha how pathetic I am indeed.
