Man all but 2 guys that Illinois is going after fell off the 150 map for 2008. People are going to deny they've even talked to Illinois at this rate, being recruited by Bruce is the complete opposite as Coach K in terms of what it does to your ranking.

Guillen responds to McCarthy's comments
whitesoxfan101 replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have no problem with him ripping on McCarthy, but again, a stupid shot on Anderson. If Ozzie had started the commie that wore #44 in CF everyday in 2006, we'd have made the playoffs, so he should try and not let us remember that even happened. -
The Al Gore discussion, split from GOP/DEM
whitesoxfan101 replied to mr_genius's topic in The Filibuster
I think his general intentions are good, but he's so damn clueless about the subject of which he champions (and yes, i've seen the movie) that he comes out of it looking mind bogglingly stupid. But then again, most people in his position (ie, who are 100 percent sure that humans are causing a path of global warming and future planetary destruction) are just as, if not more, misinformed and misguided, so I can't really single out Gore. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) So I sit and wonder why the GOP doesn't have a champion for the environment. It could possibly be one more area that I agree with Republicans. I agree with you here, but I keep the ideas of being a champion for the enviornment and a champion for global warming seperate. We NEED to treat the enviornment better, that's obvious fact, but the idea that humans are causing a path of disasterous warming could, to say the least, be strongly debated. -
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) I hope that one day, when someone close to you does something stupid, that you don't feel the same way. It's very easy for you to say this when you don't know the parties involved. I would hope I don't know somebody that is stupid enough to do the things Jamar did that evening. Nothing resembling this has come up for me in 21 years though, I guess it's a good sign I can judge who would be too stupid to hang around. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 11:47 AM) Not sure why driving home a decimated Lexus in a snow storm falls under the category of "common sense" or "good decision making." He could have easily crashed again and killed them both. I meant moreso that if he was out of it, he wouldn't have had the ability to drive the Lexus home, not even close, hence the exclusive comment. I mean, having had a concussion, he was either in the state I was where there is no way possible he could have even drove that thing home (right decision or not, because he'd have been just about in the bag) or he was in adequate shape to drive the thing home, in which case he could have AT LEAST told SOMEBODY to call 911. It's obvious he wasn't in mental state #1 since he drove back, although I will say he and Brian could have just as easily died if he had just stayed out at the crash scene considering how deserted i'd guess it was and he had no cell, so at least it worked out ok, even if by pure lucky circumstances.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 09:26 AM) Unfortunately, Danks/Gonzalez/Broadway doesn't really match up with that. No, but to poo poo on those 3 is making a significant mistake, they could be awfully good. Not as polished as the Detroit 3 though.

Brian Anderson Number Change 44 to 32
whitesoxfan101 replied to winninguglyin83's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think this is a good move, #44 was communist. -
Temperature went from 58 to 36 here yesterday in 20 minutes. I can't remember seeing something like that here before in a while. At 5 PM, it was a thunderstorm and 58, by 9 it was 30, light snow, and 30 MPH winds with gusts. As for today....well whatever snow hasn't melted yet is blowing all over the damn place, and the wind is so bad I think the draft that was blowing into my room through the window got me sick as hell. Where is the damn global warming when we need it, I want it now instead of in July when it'll be 100 instead of 95.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) i agree, but this will be overlooked. hell, even the nbc report i linked above felt the need to mention the gordon situation, which was entirely unnecessary. eric gordon is going to indiana. his dealing with illinois are largely irrelevant as the relate to the 2007 class and some future recruits. but yeah, i'm comfortable with this group and could be even more if we add another nice player. baines and freeman top my list, but those are the only two guys i'm really familiar with. there could be others i'm not aware of. We want a wing with the 5th scholly, especially with the Jamar thing. Freeman could play the 2 and 3, but he won't qualify. My guess is we'll get Baines, he's been offered, he like us, and he can play the 3. He'd be a decent pickup, I just hope we see guys like Suggs, Liggins, Jones, and Humphrey as top priorities. We need guards, and those guys are talented and big enough to play anywhere 1-3 in this offense. Plus, the 2008 bigs aren't any good in terms of who we're going after anyways (the only really high rated guy is Dunigan, and I don't like him), and we have plenty of bigs as it is.
-
The 2007 class turned out to be a lot better than I thought (and Watkins isn't going anywhere, Bruce is just making sure he doesn't lose him after what happened with Gordon). I don't even want Dunigan, he's not any good to be honest.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) I'm not trying to rip on you, but have you ever had a concussion? I'm going to be the lawyer here and say, isn't it POSSIBLE that, because of the concussion, he made some ridiculous decisions? I've had a couple of them myself and let me tell you...the only thing I could think about was the pain, not throwing up, and where the hell I was. I'm not backing off my stance that if he wants to play, he's going to have to earn back that scholarship...or just walk-on, but to turn your back on someone is cruel. Yes, I have had a mild concussion actually (explains a lot of my posts, eh?) similar to what Jamar was diagnosed with (which is why he didn't spend the night in the hospital). Jamar's problem is he's trying to have it both ways here. Either he was out of it, which means he couldn't have the common sense and decision making to drive back to his apartment, or he was adequate enough to drive back to the apartment, and thus could have at least called 911 when he arrived. Either he was out of it or he wasn't, and based on the circumstances, he's trying to have his cake and eat it too. And I have no problem turning my back on somebody who did as much wrong as Jamar did that night.

QUOTE(Al Lopez @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) Murphy on the Score today had someone from BP, and he said that their early projection for the Sox this year was... 72 and 90. Which struck me as a mite pessimistic, but there you have it. They thought our question marks in the outfield, 5th spot in the rotation, Uribe, and our tough division would add up to one hell of a bad year. I believe they had us going 72 and 90 in 2005 as well, so good.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/colleges/28...jamar02.article It's the exact defense I was expecting from him (he didn't have a cell phone is accurate after all) but i'm going to be sick. Reading this makes me convinced yet again he'll be back on the Illini after taking a plea. And if he was so suicidial, why we he having the time of his life at senior night. This story his more holes than the Cubs pitching staff.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 01:45 AM) How does Pietrus (sp?) look? All I could remember hearing about him when GS drafted him was "the European Michael Jordan". He showed some flashes when he was in, and has a lot of talent, but was inconsistent when he was in and fouled out in limited minutes. Basically tonight's game was a microcosim of his NBA career so far. I made the comment about how he was known as the European Michael Jordan to my friend who went to the game with me, and she looked at me like I was nuts, even though she's a big NBA follower. Maybe that better explains how he looked, lol. Actually, the 2 best looking players for GS were Azibuike, who's been in the D League most of this year and Ellis, a 2nd round draft pick out of HS a couple years ago. Although, they have been hurt bad by injuries, Adonnal Foyle even got in tonight, so yeah. -

What a great game to be at, although any game where your in the 14th row downstairs for FREE is a good one. Thabo and Tyrus get some PT, and what do ya know?? They look good (and yes, GS quit during the 2nd half, but those 2 did most of their damage during the 1st). -
I LIKE YOU AND YOUR FAKE MENTAL RETARDATION!! THAT'S A NICE!! /Borat And you have to post here as much as Heads and WHarris before your "a retard".

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 07:37 PM) i really think SIU is gonna give the rest of the MVC the middle finger and win this thing. With how much more the other top Valley teams have to lose compared to SIU (which is nothing since the NCAA will never give them a 2 or 3 seed even if they win out) and SIU's history in this tournament up until last year, I wouldn't count on it. -
IHSA Class AA basketball tournament

There is nobody that has a prayer against Simeon IMO, unless they just don't show up a la what they did at the Garden against Rice earlier this year. They are too damn good. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 01:20 AM) Nice to see Darko pick it up tonight, and we finally come through with a W. For anyone that actually watched the game, how did he look? And Dwight with 11 TO's, picking up a triple double the bad way. Darko? He looked like he wasn't getting boxed out at all the whole night but in all seriousness, he's very quick and has extremely long arms. I still love the future of Howard, Darko, and Ariza. As for the Bulls...what a joke. It's been a long time since I've seen them lose 49-31 on the glass, and to lose at home to a team that had lost 15 of 19 and said team had 26 turnovers can't happen. Gordon and Deng were the only 2 Bulls that showed up (and i'm not exaggerating, look at the box score). -

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 07:42 AM) UCLA has been pretty damn impressive, just don't get the hype the UNC's and Ohio St's of the world get. They will probably get to play in Sacramento and San Jose and have four home games, just like last year. And I had no problems with Ohio St. storming the court when they just won the big ten. Just out of curiosity, whens the last time the Illini fans stormed the court? The last one I can remember is when they beat Ohio State (Michael Redd and the like) in like 2001 or 2002 on a 25 footer at the horn by Frank Williams. -
When you consider that "ghost riding the whip" is the biggest dance since The Charleston, I think it's essential that a video of the mods of this fine board ghost riding the whip outside The Cell before a Cubs/Sox game show up on YouTube this summer. Gotta keep it fresh.

Bad loss, but realistically, Ben has gotta make that shot at the horn if he wants to be a big time player and this team wants to be a legit title contender. -
Bocot is a great get. If Lowery can get his attitude under control, he's as good as anybody in this state not named Derrick Rose in terms of HS seniors this year. Oh, and I'd suggest all the Illini fans around here get to know Scott Suggs, if he isn't the first member of the 2008 class I'd be all very surprised.

I'm really not sure what the beef with that article is....any self respecting and realistic Illinois fan will tell you the team is mediocre, and is going to finish 3rd in the league somehow. As for Kansas....they are probably the best team I've seen not named UCLA the last few months (UCLA has been just as impressive in a better league, and has more experience), but I've seen too many great Kansas teams, including a few better than this one, lose in March. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) The State's Attorney said they only tested for alcohol. What I had heard was they took a blood sample from Jamar only and it would take 4-6 weeks to find out what's up, so we'll know by late March either way. Jamar was for sure smoking the ish though, although I had heard Brian was completely clean originally from that same person, so the .00 report doesn't surprise me.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 01:13 AM) I love them offensively, hate them defensively though. They're a talented team no doubt, but I don't think they defend well enough to make a run through a region, jmo. It's a concern for sure. I have seen them play D when necessary against decent opponents, so they CAN do it, but any team that turns it on and off on either side like they do on D is a problem.
