Rosters expanded to 28 guys to start season

Micker.... COME ON DOWN! You're the next contestant on can he play right field!

I feel like I’ve been hearing his name long enough, and without any FA signing, I’d like to see them bring him up to see what he can do. Let him be part of the RF rotation.

  2. It doesn’t make sense to me that people drastically reduced travel over the past two years and teleworked, yet gas prices didn’t go down. What do I know though? As long as the gas execs get their bonuses and the companies get their subsidies, I’m happy.

Good lord this offense is ass when you take Kofi away.

If Kofi’s the only interior threat, the other 4 guys (or at least 3) on the floor need to be legit outside threats. Most of the time, the Illini only had 1-2 at most who could shoot.
Not sure what was going on with Williams, but he was useless - seemed afraid to shoot.

  4. What are you paying?

$4.69 here in Mesa. I can get 5 cents off using Fuel Rewards at Shell and another 5 cents with T-mobile Tuesday. Sometimes I can find gas around 10 cents cheaper somewhere else though.
I drive a 2011 Lincoln MKZ hybrid and get 35mi/gallon, but it still hurts to fill up once a week.

Thinking of going electric. Worked ok for Dylan.

I don’t even care what they’re fighting about. I don’t identify with either side. I’ll watch games when it’s over.

No matter what happens, fans will be the biggest losers.

I feel like my indifference had something to do with the lockout ending. You’re welcome.

    My radical ideas:

    1. Eliminate leagues.

I think this should be the case in all sports. Play a balanced schedule and the best teams make the playoffs. I’m all for expanded playoffs, too.

While superstars are making more money than ever, baseball’s middle class has been wiped out by recent labor agreements. The median salary — the point at which half the players make less and half the players make more — has dropped about 30 percent since 2015, according to the Associated Press.

Teams have figured out it is much more cost effective to fill the roster with younger players whose salaries can be strictly controlled, which means the average veteran player is getting a lot more take-it-or-leave-it offers than ever before in the era of free agency.

This sounds like what the rest of the US is dealing with. The rich getting richer while the middle class is eroding.

When he first came up, I thought he was a can't miss player. Was poised and seemed to have talent. I guess that is why I am not a major league scout.

His rookie season had me thinking he was the next Paul Molitor.

  9. Schilling used to come in a local AZ radio show weekly when he played here, and he is undoubtedly one of the best athletes I’ve ever heard on the radio. He never shied away from giving his opinion on anything.

I’m not a fan of his politics, and I don’t think I ever really liked him as a person, but to be held out because of your beliefs seems unfair. We want athletes to have opinions and be interesting- as long as we agree with them, I guess.

Wow this takes me back my late teens/early 20s leaving my gf’s parents’ house in the middle of the night and listening to him on the score. Also driving to work at 3/4am.

Same. I used to leave for work at 4:30am for a few years, and I’d always catch the end of his show that he led into with “Let’s Spend the Night Together.” I can’t hear it without thinking of the Grobber. I guess that’s the great thing about music - the connections it makes.

Edit - Had the song wrong. Popped into my head today. What can I say? It’s been 20 years.

A single extension for a RB didn't sink that GM. You can add in "several bad extensions" and throw in Eddie Jackson and you might have something.

Didn’t say or imply this one move sunk him. I agree with SS2K5, the Jackson move seems like the obvious thing to do at the time. He was a game changer. I’m not sure what happened, but he was terrible afterwards. Like worst DB on the field terrible.

Probably the gift I didn't know I needed but love is a wifi enabled photo frame. I'm loving my kids adding pictures. I'm going to get one for my parents.

The gift I gave that I feel the best about was setting up an investment account for my son and his partner.

I told my wife a few days ago we should get the photo frame for my parents since we live across the country. Probably won’t wait a year.

I found two really cool house decorations for my wife at an antique store. I found a ceramic hippo she wanted. She has been looking for one because supposedly they are good luck - whatever. I also bought a statue of dog made out of various scraps of metal that somehow looks exactly like our boxer who died five years ago. We still talk about him all the time. She cried when she saw it.

You didn’t ask, but the best gift I ever got was the table hockey game that has the six handles on each side that move the players. I asked for it and was stunned when I got it from Santa Claus. I was 13. Thirty six years later, my nieces and nephews were playing it this Christmas.

All right I'm changing the rules a little because this is kinda fun. I'm changing 1 draft pick. Only 1.

With the 23rd pick in the 2009 MLB Draft, the Chicago White Sox select...Mike Trout, Millville Senior High School, New Jersey. Assume he follows the same path and the White Sox don't accidentally trade him in 2010 for an overpaid pitcher.

I couldn’t follow the rest. It was starting to feel to me like you were having the Sox somehow squander the the Trout pick, and I didn’t want to be disappointed in that draft again.

Having not watched the game - how had Mac Jones only thrown it 1 time until that last pass attempt? The weather doesn't look that horrendous, what was the deal?

That’s the difference between Belichick and other coaches - he isn’t worried about throwing a certain amount of times or running plays for certain guys. If throwing 3 times is what it takes, that’s what he does. If he has to run the same play 10 times in a row because it hasn’t been stopped, that’s what he’ll do.
