How was Seby’s ball 405 feet when it hit to the left of the sign that says 398?
-
Starter goes 5 innings. Let’s bring in 3 or 4 relievers for an inning each.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

I wonder what it will feel like if this team somehow makes the playoffs and goes on an ‘06 Cardinals-like run and wins the World Series.
I know it’s not likely, but WIld Card teams and lowly slotted teams have won championships in baseball and other sports.
I feel like it will be much less fulfilling than the ‘’05 Sox, ‘85 Bears, etc.

The level of incompetence at all levels is astonishing.

Tony and Franconia are in the outfield now talking to the grounds crew and mulling around.
I feel like no matter what TLR is doing, it always includes some level of “mulling around.”

We have dumb players. If we are patient Valdez might not even start next inning. We bail him out.
Engel patiently looked at 3 pitches.

In the AL, only Houston and NYY have 70+ wins. The rest of the league is either mediocre or bad. So, as frustrating as this season has been, the Sox are in the playoff hunt as much as all the other 60+ win teams.
-
Maybe we’ve been wrong, and TLR’s plan hasn’t been to replicate the ‘83 Sox but the 83 win 2006 WS Champion Cardinals.
Sox only need to go 25-23. Then all we have to do is figure out where we’ll stand for the parade.HOF baseball person. Checkers/chess.

I keep thinking he's hurt, but he doesn't look hurt in the field.
He’s just completely lost at the plate (both sides). The good news is he almost has to get hot at some point. The bad news - that’s not the way the season has gone.

A lot of Soxtalk was ready to quit on him too.
Yep. I tried to find last year’s trade deadline thread because I remember quite a few posts from people here wanting to dump him.

All the other items are generally poor quality mass produced crap (Jerseys, hats, shirts).
I hate when the logo of the sponsor is as prominent as the Sox logo.

then they needed to fire the hitting coach and TLR.
If this is the start of an online petition to do so, consider this my signature.

I’m in the camp of being glad Hahn didn’t panic and trade prospects for rentals. It’s either happening or not this season based on how Yoan, Giolito, Grandal, Eloy, etc. perform from here on. If they don’t meet expectations, it doesn’t matter who was traded for unless one of our underachievers was part of the trade, but none of them have much trade value at this point..
A retool is needed, but now probably wasn’t the best opportunity unless the return was part of the future plan, not just the rest of this season.

Is it me or does Kaplan seem to be a total douche?
I’m not sure why you’re asking, but the answer is a resounding “Yes!” when it comes to his on-air and Twitter personas. Total d-bag.

They’ve played about as badly as can be imagined, and they’re only 2 games back in the division and 2.5 out of the wild card.
TLR was napping for the first 100 games. “It’s go time.”

Making contact with the umpire and getting multiple game suspensions while trying to compete is the exact opposite of giving a fuck. It’s hurting the team around you because you care about the tantrum more than the team.
After he serves a 3 game suspension, he’ll come back, play one game, and take a day off to rest his legs. This season sucks.

Part of the problem is that our starters rarely go more than 6 innings.
Another issue is every guy in the bullpen seems to pitch one inning every game, so nobody is ever fresh. Makes no sense that a guy will have a 12 pitch inning, but the Sox brain trust doesn’t think he can go another inning or at least get a few more outs. Every game is a starter going no more than 5 or 6 innings, and 3 or 4 relievers have to be perfect every day.

W 99 just like 1983 and 2005
I wasn’t sure if he’d be able to make up the one game difference with all the leg injuries, but you’ve talked me into it. 99 wins it is.

‘83 Sox were 49-47 at the 96 game mark. TLR’s got this team at 48-48 - only one game off that pace.
It’s all working out according to his master plan. 98 win season is all but assured.

Well, if it hit the wall, it only went 398 feet.
