  1. Well, he’s on pace to strike out about 220 times, so he might not have the best concept of what a strike is.
  2. They must have been told to stop burning the challenges in the first few innings. Looked like a ball, but it would suck if it was a pitch that caught a hair of the zone.
  3. Big Unit the one anomaly… Names two more.😀
  4. After 3 awful seasons, I won’t be satisfied at the end of the season if they miss the playoffs. It will feel like a failure because the division is winnable and the wild card should be the worst they do at this point. Need to refocus. Don’t stop now boys.
  5. I listened to today’s (8/23) game against the Mets, and it’s so much better than the Schriff experience. He doesn’t let the game breathe at all. Against the Cubs, there several times where he tried to get Stone to engage in Cubs bashing or Wrigley bashing, and Stone didn’t bite. Schriff needs to stop selling the Sox to Sox fans. We’re watching the game already. Not sure why it seems like he’s trying to convince me to be a fan. DJ was terrible (terrible!) when he started, so there is hope for Schriff, but perhaps he can listen to some games called by the best announcers and learn from how they back off and let the pictures on tv do some of the talking.
  6. Nope. Colson needs a few days off. Glad he got a timely hit, but that doesn’t negate him having no clue half the time.
  7. Going rate for the Pope hat on eBay is approximately $75.
  8. I remember the girls had to sing Immaculate Mary, and there was something about it that was really awesome. I’m somewhat of a lapsed catholic, but the traditional hymns still get me. Being catholic isn’t totally about religion for me, there’s a cultural identity that I still hold onto. 12 years of catholic school doesn’t go away easily.
  9. When Tom Grieve was the Rangers pitching coach in the 90s, he had players warm up with a football. I think he believed it helped reinforce good pitching mechanics or something.
  10. I’ve had to walk away from numerous games the last few weeks out of frustration, anxiety, whatever you want to call it. Just enough to reduce my stress levels. I probably watched the same number of games the last few years (though fewer innings, I’m sure), but 3 years of 100+ losses almost made me forget what it’s like to be a baseball fan.
  11. He shrugged like , “why not?” Um, I don’t know, maybe save it for a close strike 3 challenge? Sox are the worst with these challenges. Muni wasted one on strike 1.
  12. Both Cleveland and Detroit have nice stadiums with a decent amount of food/bar options around the stadium. Visited both in the last few years and stayed within a mile or so of the parks and was able to walk around and to/from the games easily. Pleasantly surprised by both.
  13. Is Cleveland cheating?
  14. The Sox need to change something about their approach at the plate. It’s dreadful to watch them strike out ~25% of the time. They can’t swing from the heels on every pitch of every at bat. There has to be some situational awareness.
  15. B-/C+ I don’t understand the Pereira move. He’s shaky in the field, but he seemed to have some RH pop. Seems like the kind of guy you’d want to keep around. If they feel Doyle is going to regain his form from a few years ago, I suppose it’s worth a shot. I like the Bart pickup, but I still feel like Lee should have been called up at some point. I’d rather see Shultz move to the pen. He can’t seem to make it through a second time around the order, so pitching in relief might accelerate his game. Fedde and Kay both give a solid 5 innings and keep the game close. Bullpen move is an upgrade. Most importantly, they didn’t give away anything that should affect their future.
  16. Make him a bullpen catcher.
  17. His calls on big plays are good (thogh he can’t seem to identify a home run off the bat), but he simply talks too much. His job as the PBP guy is to call the pitches and describe the results. He calls every game like it’s a blowout or rain delay where the announcer has to fill. If he talked less, called the game, and let the color guy fill the space, he’d be much better off. Fans will always complain about announcing. People on here are triggered by the 8 second “Nationwide” jingle for God’s sake. I usually defend him because I feel like there’s a lot of piling on him, but if they move on I’d be ok. He doesn’t seem to get that he’s not the show.
  18. 3-0 vs. TB and NYY in the last 3. I’m even more optimistic.
  19. I wonder if the Sox can go 0 for the series in check swings again. Hmm, I just checked the opponent, and it’s not the Yankees, so I suppose there’s a chance of one of our hitters being able to hold up.
  20. They should have brought Lee up. He can’t be any worse defensively than the others. None of them seem to be able to catch the ball.
  21. Stat on the mlb app - Colson Montgomery has whiffed on 19 of his last 26 swings. That almost seems impossible for a major league hitter.
  22. 1st inning challenge with nobody on 😞
  23. Chairman of the Board is a terrible nickname. Whoever came up with it should self-suspend for 10 days. That said, I’m glad the Sox finally have a grindy player who actually grinds. He’s one of my favorites, and it’s crazy how quickly he’s adapted to the outfield.
