Kinda surprised ESPN even knows the Sox are playing.

I just looked at the box score for today’s game and saw Hudson’s playoff ERA is 40.50. Is that good?

I think it mattered, but I don’t think anyone runs full speed out of the box on a line drive to the third baseman that looks like it was caught.

It’s brutal to watch a guy strike out as much as he did - particularly in the last two months. However, Kyle Schwarber is a guy a lot of teams would love having, and he has two of the top ten all time strikeouts in a season (including only eight fewer than Colson this season). So, there is hope. Also, Mune would have been neck and neck with Colson if he didn’t miss several weeks. Colson needs to be a little less pull and homer happy. If he takes Mune’s approach and uses they whole field and selectively thinks pull only, I think he will vastly improve

Castillo only threw 20 pitches, so he’s available to close - maybe even go 2 innings.

Colson needs to concentrate on hitting the ball to left until he gets his timing back. He’s either way in front and pulls it foul, or they back foot breaking ball him and he corkscrews himself into the ground. Oh, and he looks at fastballs right down the middle every at bat.

I don’t live in Illinois, but I try to get to a game when I am in town if the dates line up. I’ve heard about the tailgate scene, and see some people being sad it is going away, but I’ve never seen or been involved in the tailgates in person. I went to a game in May and parked in the lots near Cork and Kerry. I was early and walked through the lots to the entrance, and I didn’t see one tailgate. Attendance was ~15K. It was a nice night weather wise. I’m sure tailgates for Cubs/Sox is a good time, but when I see people clinging to this as an argument….I don’t know. As someone who’s been to a bunch of parks - most of which have been built in the last 30 years, the Rate sorely lacks things to do before and after the game. Growing up, my dad would park somewhere in the neighborhood and we’d walk through the viaduct to the game and leave in the 8th inning to “beat traffic.” Later, I took the Archer Express with friends. There was never any hanging out around the stadium. That’s the aspect of this stadium JR totally failed on. People like to be able to spend time around the stadium, but the current location doesn’t have many opportunities to do it. From what i recall, the major obstacle to building up the Rate has always been JR. Ishbia doesn’t want to be stuck with gate revenue, concessions and parking as his only income sources. He’s looking for year round income. Kinda hard to fault him for that.

Well, he’s on pace to strike out about 220 times, so he might not have the best concept of what a strike is.

They must have been told to stop burning the challenges in the first few innings. Looked like a ball, but it would suck if it was a pitch that caught a hair of the zone.

After 3 awful seasons, I won’t be satisfied at the end of the season if they miss the playoffs. It will feel like a failure because the division is winnable and the wild card should be the worst they do at this point. Need to refocus. Don’t stop now boys.

I listened to today’s (8/23) game against the Mets, and it’s so much better than the Schriff experience. He doesn’t let the game breathe at all. Against the Cubs, there several times where he tried to get Stone to engage in Cubs bashing or Wrigley bashing, and Stone didn’t bite. Schriff needs to stop selling the Sox to Sox fans. We’re watching the game already. Not sure why it seems like he’s trying to convince me to be a fan. DJ was terrible (terrible!) when he started, so there is hope for Schriff, but perhaps he can listen to some games called by the best announcers and learn from how they back off and let the pictures on tv do some of the talking.

I remember the girls had to sing Immaculate Mary, and there was something about it that was really awesome. I’m somewhat of a lapsed catholic, but the traditional hymns still get me. Being catholic isn’t totally about religion for me, there’s a cultural identity that I still hold onto. 12 years of catholic school doesn’t go away easily.

When Tom Grieve was the Rangers pitching coach in the 90s, he had players warm up with a football. I think he believed it helped reinforce good pitching mechanics or something.

I’ve had to walk away from numerous games the last few weeks out of frustration, anxiety, whatever you want to call it. Just enough to reduce my stress levels. I probably watched the same number of games the last few years (though fewer innings, I’m sure), but 3 years of 100+ losses almost made me forget what it’s like to be a baseball fan.

He shrugged like , “why not?” Um, I don’t know, maybe save it for a close strike 3 challenge? Sox are the worst with these challenges. Muni wasted one on strike 1.
