9/2 GT, Sox vs. Astros, 7:10. Keep 'em Separated

Featured Replies

Big opportunity for the Sox to build some separation tonight in the standings. Astros sit 3.5 back of the sox for the coveted 2-seed. Sox can tie up the season series tonight at 3-a-piece, and set themselves up with the opportunity to own the tiebreaker with a win Thursday. Cleveland faces Dylan Cease and the Blue Jays.

Davis Martin returns tonight, which version of him will Come Out and Play?

I know Drew takes a fair amount of heat here, but it continues to be notable to me that our pitchers truly seem to value his presence behind the plate, whatever his shortcomings may be.

I don't really care about the tie breaker with 'Stros doubt it comes into play I just want to get 85-87 and win the division. Seed should take care of itself with those totals.

So yea, keep winning, don't crater here at the end.

Baseball Reference Odds have the White Sox finishing with 86.3 wins, 96% to make the postseason and 87% to win the division.

Seems about right to me.

I guess Han never made it to Arlington Park.

All I really want right now is for the Sox to have a lead of at least 3 1/2 going into Cleveland so that if the worst happened they'd leave still in first place.

Let’s hope it doesn’t come down to that.

A sweep gives Cleveland 3 games in the standings, plus the tiebreaker. Essentially, 3.5 games gained for Cleveland in one series.

1 Sox win ensures Cleveland can only gain a max of 1 game in the standings, and gives the Sox the tiebreaker. Essentially only 0.5 games gained for Cleveland in one series, even if they win 2 out of 3.

This is a big start for martin and the White Sox going forward.

OK Martin, time to rebound. He looked good in his rehab start, lets hope he can keep it going. This Astros lineup isn't exactly a murderer's row. There's 2-3 guys to try and avoid and the rest are just bad.

If nothing else he collected that sweet game day check, and per diem.

The Sox have been swept by one team, that I can remember, over the last three months and that was a Red Sox team on an historic roll on two occasions. The Guardians aren’t sweeping our Sox.

Not to many frequent flyer miles

Really need Davis to step up tonight and give at least 5 strong innings. Every game now has to played and managed as if it is a must win. It would also help if the stinking Tigers could win some of these next 8 against they have against the Twinkies and the Guardians.

Apparently $117.50 per day, so that sounds about right.
