Monday at 03:50 PM1 day The Chicago White Sox are called "South Side" because their home ballparks have always been located on the South Side of Chicago. (over 126 years) Even most out-of- towners can understand our Southside pride - whether from the "Southside" jerseys or the use of names of past teams like "Southside Hitmen"..A great mural at Midway airport (which at least one Winnetka resident probably has not seen) commemorated the history of the White Sox on the South side.“You will not find a city in America whose love for the game of baseball runs as deep as it is does here in Chicago .For more than 125 seasons, the White Sox have been an iconic symbol of the South Side’s close-knit, never-back-down spirit. This mural perfectly captures the essence of the White Sox fan base, the South Side and the entire city, and we are thrilled to have this be among the works of art travelers see as they navigate through Midway.” -Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) Commissioner Michael McMurray. I could not have said that better myself. The Crosstown rivalry, based in large measure on the respective Northside and Southside location of the Cubs and White Sox has fueled fan interest since that 1906 World Series. It will be a shame to lose that, possibly forever..and there is a possibility that some fan interest will be lost. So, once the team is moved to "The Railyards" it will be time to coin a new moniker and to create some promotional merchandise tied to that location. One possibility - call the team "The Rail Men." Other possible names escape me right now but I am sure others may have some suggestions. Surely one player should adopt Warren Zevon's "Night time in the switching yard" as their walk-up song. What a disaster.

Monday at 05:02 PM1 day They will no longer be called the Bridgeport White Sox......oh wait, what? Nobody calls them that now anyway? Never mind.

If you pick Cermak, you’re essentially sawing Chinatown in half.I couldn’t tell you where the West Side is supposed to start (and no, State St. does not count).

Monday at 06:25 PM1 day Would some fans prefer building on the site of the old South Works steel plant and hit homers into the Calumet River or Lake Michigan

At least Bridgeport is fairly centrally located. If they aren’t moving to the South Loop, then stay in Bridgeport.
