Bridgeport is a s%*# location for a ballpark, and always has been. I have never understood this argument. There's nothing there but apartments, warehouses, and houses. There's nothing to do. I have literally never stuck around the neighborhood after a game. The game ends, and you leave.

Bridgeport has had decades to do something to make people stick around after games and spend money, and has utterly failed.

37th and Honore is the officially designated geographic center of Chicago. By that logic, we were never on the southside to begin with.

Assuming the organization continues to define itself and its fans as South Siders, I don’t mind moving a few blocks north. If anything, that’ll just expand our turf. The Loop will officially be known as White Sox territory!

My Dad took me to my first White Sox game in 1965. We had season tickets from ‘72 through’74. I started going to games with my friends in 77 through ‘84 before I moved away. I still come home most summers and still go to games including the two World Series games in ‘05. In all that time I never went into Bridgeport before or after a game. As a matter of fact I never thought of original Comiskey or the now Rate as being in Bridgeport. It’s south of that neighborhood surrounded by parking lots. The rendering of the new place looks fantastic. Bring it on! And it will still be on the Southside.

The Rain Men is good. Nobody will forget the count or how many outs there are.

Honestly it opens up so much more chance of capturing the casual fans who have been pretty much ceded to the team on the Northside for decades now. If you can capture some of that crowd that is downtown for other things, and it becomes a 2 stop train ride, or even a 15-30 minute walk depending on where you are, maybe you get a following of people who "just want to go to a game" versus Sox fans who were going to game no matter where the park is. It is incredibly clear that this has never happened in Bridgeport, and there wasn't the energy to really give that a go, no matter who or what was at fault for that. In terms of the future of the franchise, if this happens in the basic form that we are seeing in front of us (The railyards spot, the retro-ish stadium, correcting the sins of New Comiskey, capturing the casual fan, a ton more transpo options for both the local and out of town crowd, etc) this could literally the best thing to happen to the franchise long term in forever. Obviously this could all fall apart or be fucked up, but I haven't been this excited for the franchise in forever.

Colloquially known as the "South side Hitmen"...not the "77 Hitmen". The more popular name carries a different SS vibe.

There are a few people that, through no fault of their own, are not familiar with the South side, South and Southwest suburbs, or even Beverly and Mount Greenwood. But cut to the chase here, Ishbia is moving the stadium for his own personal and business reasons, not for the benefit of anyone else. He wants to own the stadium and everything around it...for profit.

Maybe he can mollify some who oppose this with a float in next years Southside Irish parade, but maybe prepare to duck tomatoes.

His brother, a great Sox fan himself, lives out in New Lenox.

What are the outfield dimensions at this Railyard?

Is there a site plan for that thing available on-line?

I see the attempt to mimic brickwork details, but moving the park to that odd location destroys any sense of "retro.". Never forget, this thing is all about Ishbia. Some can attempt to justify this, but they cannot escape the basic fact that this thing was promulgated by Ishbia for self-serving reasons. On a lighter note, that drive for his chauffeur from Winnetka to the Rate was getting a bit too long. 😆

My grandmother lived at 36th and Hermitage. My father grew up there and lived there for 30 years. I was at that house for almost every holiday. I also spent the first couple years of my life living there. My grandparents lived in Worth their entire lives. That's where my mother grew up and still lives.

I live right down the street from Beverly and Mt. Greenwood.

My entire family is south side. Nobody gives a s%*# about the park moving 2.5 miles. Nobody. Because the neighborhood where the park is now, sucks, and has always sucked. This obsession is absolutely unhinged.

I am sure as a Chicagoan, you understand that driving into the loop, even from a few miles out let alone from the suburbs, carries other potential consequences, e.g,. some long time fans may find it inconvenient or for whatever reason, may not go there with the frequency they do now. If that happens, then what? I see a lot of the Loop during the day and don't need to drive back there at night.

If this is what happens when it is "all about Ishbia", put me at the top of the list. The Sox have a long history of cash poor, real estate rich owners who have done everything they could to NOT invest in this franchise. By being willing to invest his own capital, and not needing to depend on silent partners and welfare queening himself in front of the Illinois and Florida legislatures, Ishbia is already ahead of what the Sox have been over the last 5 decades, including when Jerry held Illinois hostage and convinced Florida to pay for a stadium too.

Besides the literally hundreds of games I have attended at both Sox Parks locations at 35th and Shields, I have been lucky enough to attend games in about a dozen different cities, close to 20 different parks, including literally every single existing stadium within a six hour drive of Chicago. I think I have a pretty solid handle on what makes a pretty good park in MLB.

Hell I can also sit here and name Chicago neighborhoods, who cares? What a pointless circle jerk to miss the point. The point is to actually grown the fan base beyond the die hards. If the Sox want to be a real 21st century franchise, they need a much bigger bandwagon. Look no further than 8 miles north to see what thisfranchise could look like if it didn't just settle for being a neighborhood team.

And if the new park actually adds a Metra station right there, like they are talking about? Your argument completely backfires, because MORE people will attend games. Not only will more people attend games, but they will also drink more alcohol, because they don't have to drive home... Then, get this... They might actually go out to eat or have a few more drinks at local establishments. Again, because they don't have to walk 3 miles to get there, and drive home afterwards.
