Allen or McCaffrey should have been MVP.
Congrats to Mongo on the HOF.

I have an account, but I never post, and I only follow Sox/Bears/Notre dame writers, so I don't see much else.
I followed mostly sports, too, but I’d be looking at something Bears related, and halfway through the comments there’d be an “influencer” asking what people thought of her “end zone.” It was a nice surprise sometimes, but that type of stuff started showing up too much.

Does 17 refer to the number of paragraphs in a typical Caulfield post?

I finally deleted the Twitter / X app from my phone. I’ll miss Super 70s Sports the most, but X really is a cesspool.
I’ll have to visit Soxtalk a little more now when I’m bored. There’s a similar penchant for hijacking a thread in Soxtalk, but I won’t get the surprise nudity. At least I hope not.

There is also some civic pride in having a major sports team.
For sure. I have find memories of the time one a fan smuggled a firearm into the stadium in her gunt and accidentally fired a round at her unsuspecting seat mate.

Also disappointing that Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman didn’t show up.
Booing Krause’s widow is shameful. It’s just embarrassing to be a Chicago fan. Continually stupid franchises and fans.

My mom took me to TJ Maxx before I started high school - Catholic school so I needed dress shirts, pants and ties. I’d never been there, but it felt like a step up to me. We did not shop at top end stores when I was a kid, and the majority of my clothes were hand me downs. I picked up a bunch of stuff and felt good about it. Made the mistake of not trying everything on.
First day of school, I’m buttoning up my shirt, and the buttons don’t line up. Shirt is crooked. I go to my second choice - same thing.
This is how being a Sox fan feels. Perpetually disappointed by bargain basement deals.

This Chuckie Robinson thread is right above the Cease thread, and when I looked at it earlier, I thought it had reached 84 pages. I thought, “now what happened?”
I promise, I assumed the worst.

As long as he’s not on the north side, I’m fine with wherever he goes even if it means in Sox division.

I truly hated watching Bummer pitch. He had a ton of bad luck hits against him, but he also nibbled and relied on guys chasing his pitches way out of the zone to get outs.
I'm fine with a few lottery tickets in return for him.

He was great for a while. Heart of the team. Face of the franchise.
It was time.
I wish TA nothing but the best.

Harper’s performance - ugh. How did the Sox not make a serious run at him. He’s exactly what they needed in every way.
Did they even make him an offer?- 1

Surprised it wasn't more. I wonder how far its going to drop next season?
When was the last full game you watched?I’m sure I didn’t watch more than 10-15% of their innings this year, and I have the MLB ticket. Least I’ve ever watched when games were available to me.
I probably watched no more than 5 full games (“full” = 6 innings or more of a game for this exercise) this season. The rest was an inning or two here or there. Team was excruciating to watch in all aspects.

I don’t feel like looking back through the thread to see if I actually commented, but I feel I owe LittleHurtCG an apology. I thought this thread was ridiculous when it was created. Could not have been more wrong.

Sounds to me like Tex was involved in this somehow. Pretty quick to sweep it under the rug.

I mean, his .070 BABIP is probably not sustainable, but wow.
This stat implies he puts balls in play. Not in my memory.

Keep in mind that JR recently spent $17 million for land by the United Center.
Where? Curious if the land he purchased is on the south side. Looking at google earth, I don’t see much vacant land around the UC.

Clevinger takes the lead in complete games by a Sox pitchers with…one.

Not for anything he did today, but I am sick of Eddie Jackson. I find him so annoying to watch.

Well, I’m thankful we didn’t draft Mike Trout and sign Shohei Otahni and waste them. That’s a plus, right?

whomever wants Gio next is gonna sign reylo for sure to convince him.
The “friends and family” plan popularized by the Sox. JR should charge a fee when other teams do it.

I’m not thrilled about the talent level of most of the acquisitions this winter, but it feels like all these scrap heap additions are being made with professionalism as a major part of their skill set. We had a bad mix last year for whatever reason - lacking leadership and cohesiveness. Hopefully this reset of the clubhouse culture leads to some positive results.
Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle with a few and have some trade fodder at the deadline. Or, dare I say, actually compete. Must be spring training if I’m feeling any level of positivity.
