  1. That Pods vs Viciedo statement has to be a joke. That's coming from a huge Pods fan. Pods was the most important player on the Sox in the first half. He was the catalyst of that team. Viciedo has the potential to be a beast though. His natural gifts are extremely rare. Listen to the sound the ball makes off the bat. You can't teach that. You can lift all the weights you want. You can't make it happen. You're born with that ability. There are guys that can hit the ball farther, but I highly doubt anybody can hit the ball harder. When he's right, I'd wear a helmet if I was a 3rd baseman. No joke. I can't really think of a worse LF than Lee. He did every single thing wrong out there. He positioned himself poorly. He got atrocious reads and jumps on balls. He threw like a girl. He didn't really understand the game or his responsibilities.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 15, 2013 -> 11:09 AM) I do believe you are one of the few who believes this. I've seen nothing from him that would lead me to believe he has the range to play SS. The one thing holding him back from being an elite second baseman is his range.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 15, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) If we use that $31 million in savings PRODUCTIVELY, yes, you can definitely make the argument: $31 million + Gordon Beckham/Carlos Sanchez at SS + Matt Adams at 1B for the next 5-7 years >>> Ramirez with an albatross contract in 2014 or 2015 + Keppinger/Beckham at 2B + Viciedo/Dunn/???? at 1B. You're free to laugh at that, but we might not be laughing a year or two from now if we don't do something and just sit on all our declining assets until we can't get anything at all back in return for them. Or written another way, Beckham/Sanchez at SS, Chase Utley/Dan Uggla at 2B + Matt Adams at 1B for 5-7 years >>> STANDING PAT I don't care about money, Beckham can't play short. He's a statue at second.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2013 -> 10:09 AM) Are you ready for the Jeff Keppinger or Tyler Greene era? It was a loaded question. I was waiting for somebody to say Beckham so I could get a good laugh in before work.
  5. If we trade Ramirez, who plays SS?
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 13, 2013 -> 11:06 PM) Phegley Phegley Phegley The bad defender with the sub 700 ops in the minors?
  7. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 13, 2013 -> 11:03 PM) not routine but it was to the SS side of 2nd just behind the bag. Plenty of time to field and toss to 2nd. That's the way I saw it, at least. If its not routine, it's not an error. The only reason it was an error is because he's Alexei Ramirez. The majority if shortstops don't make that play.
  8. Do you bench Dunn? He had a 3 run bomb robbed and made a really good play on defense.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 13, 2013 -> 10:59 PM) Sorry, but that was absolutely an error. Really? He would have had to glove flip to get the runner at 2nd. The ball was hit hard. He should have made the play, but it would have been a really good play, not routine.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ May 13, 2013 -> 10:51 PM) Who could he be talking about though? The worst offenders defensively are our best hitters Flowers? His head isn't in the game. Ramirez booted that ball, but it was no routine play and probably shouldn't have been an error.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2013 -> 10:04 PM) THE BULLPEN ROOKIES. Jones might not even last this entire season. We'll see. We kept saying how we were the first team to be in first place with 11 different rookie pitchers or whatever the number was...well, most of them aren't a factor any longer. Dude, 3 of them are in a very good rotation. 1 is the closer and the other is a set up man even if he's struggling. What in the hell do you want?
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:59 PM) While we touted all those rookies in the pen last year, most of them haven't lasted. Reed's the only one looking good. Along with Quintana, Axelrod and Santiago. Nate Jones has struggled, Septimo's injured, Heath is going back to the minors, Omogrosso hasn't looked good, Veal back to the minors, Marinez has disappeared....as it turns out, we might just have been REALLY lucky to get such big contributions from so many unexpected places last year. Most of them haven't lasted except the 5 that are on the team? wtf are you saying?
  13. I'm pretty sure the Sox suck so much that Joxer has just given up on baseball.
  14. This team needs a pitcher vs position player brawl. Ramirez will run away to avoid contact and PK will just stand with a stupid look on his face saying, "guys. Stop, guys. Stop."
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:44 PM) AR just terrible tonight. ADA called him off. lol. That's why Ramirez bailed out.
  16. It's hard to even be fun bad when you have to listen to Hawk. He hasn't said one thing tonight I haven't heard him say 50 times.
  17. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:44 PM) lol Fun bad. qft I actually did lol.
  18. Walks Dunn on 4 pitches and you swing at the first pitch.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) Just 2? Paul Konerko should be thankful for Dunn and Keppinger's awful start, as it's kept the heat off of his bad season. We only have 2 players that don't offend me right now.
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) Thank you Kenny Williams. I don't want to get into that debate, but this team has 2 offensive players that aren't offensive.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) Watch this be the key turnaround game in his young career where Hicks decides he finally belongs in the majors. Worked well for Gomez. What's up with your font?
  22. s***ty night to be a Chicago sports fan.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:05 PM) Did Torii Hunter/Hicks high jump over the fence and rob it? Yeah.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) Did that ball from Dunn elicit a "stretch"call from Harrelson? I don't know, but Dunn crushed it.
