  1. Renteria is fucking brain dead!
  2. It has been done before.
  3. That girl is cute heads.
  4. When talent is more even managers matter. Bodes poorly for the playoffs.
  5. Blaming grandal for cease not throwing strikes is like blaming your wifes extra 20lbs for your limp dick.
  6. I'm so sick of ceases walks and falling behind.
  7. You can never have enough good catching. Grandal is doing exactly what he was brought here to do. That's take a lot of pitches, get on in front of the mashers, and hit for some power once and awhile. I don't really see the point in indicting the Sox for having two good catchers. Grandal is a nice fit in this lineup of mostly free swingers. Renteria needs to make better use of the DH would be my opinion, but you know Jose for whatever reason really wants to start 90% of games at 1B.
  8. I mean Hahn rescued that dude from the scrap heap and turned him into a 40 million dollar player for his next deal so James should be forever thankful and I have a feeling he will be, if he's a Sox next year or not.
  9. If by that anybody means "pop up a 75 mph EV looper into the netting" they'll win a prize.
  10. Given how JR operates I'd have a hard time believing he's doing this without the FO's approval. Renteria has been saying the right things about analytics lately but I'm getting the feeling that the FO is sending some smoke signals bout a possible change. Renteria has stopped bunting entirely, and you know almost for certain that decision didn't come from him, but from Hahn. Things may be heading towards a "mutual parting". Obviously a deep post season run would complicate things. I think Renteria is a horrible no good game day manager but I can't deny that for the most part he's had the guys ready to play this year. He's not the worst manager and if he continues to evolve maybe he sticks around. There will be a VERY interesting meeting with him and Hahn and Jerry and Kenny after the season I'd imagine. All that said, I can kinda imagine Hahn absolutely fuming when he sees Eloy in LF in a 4 run game in the 9th like last night. Like dude, you HAVE the roster now, fucking use it wisely.
  11. I think there's a bit of a mental block. Sox are as talented or more talented now. It will just take a little to get over it.
  12. We'll take it. Lord knows Sox have had the injury bug. Also Stone is openly calling out Renteria on an almost daily basis now. Somehow tells me Renteria is not a lock to return, perhaps only a deep post season run would save him.
  13. I'd lock in a split in a heartbeat.
  14. I got a bad feeling about this one. Let's make me look foolish boys.
  15. I think you nailed it. He's always behind and most days he can't throw a single pitch consistently for a strike. Batters are able to just lock him in on the inevitable fastball he has to try and throw down the middle. He's been extremely lucky on BABIP and strand rate. He needs to improve because he will regress on those. He has an 83.3% strand rate. That's not going to keep up.
  16. He doesn't take his at bats into the field. He's a rock out there.
  17. He's been nails this year and for most of his tenure in Chicago. When he's around the plate it's hard to square him up. No complaints about Alex.
  18. This dude has put in the work and has turned himself into an MVP level player. His work defensively is frankly mind blowing. An aging DH type is playing a gold glove 1B in addition to slugging: what more can you say? FO nailed this one and happy to be wrong.
  19. He showed some flashes. Not great velocity sitting 92-93 (touched 95 I think a couple times) but after the 1st inning he was able to find the zone more often than not and had good command and a decent breaking ball. Change is a huge work in progress I thought. Give credit to him he really struggled with stuff and control in the 1st then buckled down, found his breaking ball and was able to shut down a bad but not horrible detroit lineup.
