  1. Butler lines softly to Short. Inning. 19 pitches through 2 for G.
  2. Jacobs grounds to Fields on a 3-2 pitch. 2 down. Got a "Nicely done" from Farmer.
  3. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) quentin has looked god-awful in all of his at-bats so far I can live with a slow start from Q as long as he finds his groove eventually. Esp. if Dye, Thome, Konerko, Fields, Getz can pick up some slack. He carried us for long enough last year.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 05:11 PM) it took until game 3 for me to say it......but when brian moehler is the #3 starter, your team is pathetic...cubs are gonna absolutely run away with this division The Astros and The Pirates are the 2 teams no one seems to think has a shot in that division. St. Louis, Milwaukee, Cinci might be different stories.
  5. Quentin quickly goes down 0-2, strikes out on a check swing on a 2-2 pitch.
  6. Getz works count full, pops foul out to Gordon.
  7. Wise quickly goes down 0-2...grounds to first, 3 unassisted. Saw 5 pitches at least.
  8. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) um since when did Gavin offer a sinking fastball? Some sort of moving fastball is an addition to Gavin's arsenal this year.
  9. Teahen k's swinging. 2 k's in the first for Gavin. 11 pitches, 3 outs, 2 k's.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) Go down to the wharf and just walk around as well. I'd sample the sourdough pizza and I recommend the crab melt sandwich at the franciscan overlooking the Rock. If you're a fan of beer, the Toronado in San Fran was a very excellent bar to hit up. Huge selection of the locally brewed stuff. Good sausage place next door too.
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) Meh, it's a pittance. But 20% of nothing is something, you know? Honestly, Huh? Totally lost me there.
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) IMO, Roubini's right on this one. I'm cashing out tomorrow... after my 20% pickup since the beginning of March. When the banks report earnings, things are going to plummet again. If I had anything more than a pittance in the markets that's exactly what I'd have done when it crossed 8000 again as well. It'll drop again until the next round of bailouts come through.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) I might just have her and I watch the movie that week to kind of set-it-up. So I say thanks in advance Balta, you've just made my job much easier for the end of the month. LOL, hope it is effective.

    Road Trip

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) I just googled it and it looks damn tasty. Might have to use my mileage to get a hotel and do a little PCH road trip with the gal for her birthday. If she's watched that movie then that's like an ace in the hole, even if you didn't.
  15. "Right on everything" Roubini rips Cramer.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) I watched like 10 minutes of Sideways and was bored. I take it that the Hitching Post was in the movie? Yeah, it was featured in there quite a bit. It's supposedly a very good wine and barbeque type place. They do what IIRC is a Santa Maria style open flame BBQ.

    Road Trip

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) I'm intrigued with this hitching post you speak of. Is it really good? What would you recommend. I might take the women there. Go watch the movie "Sideways" first.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) Its time the White Sox give up a Broadway or something for Reggie Willits. I don't think Willits is the greatest player in the world, but he would be a good fit and a guy to take a chance on. He might have just played ridiculously over his head during that one season in Anaheim, but he has a very good high and should at least put up a .340 OBP while playing mediocre defense in CF. Would the Angels give him up for that price?

There's lots of variously cool things to hit up in the L.A. area depending on what you're up for. Dodger game. Walk down Hollywood Blvd. Awful lot of cool geology. Number of places where movies you may like have been filmed. Lots of random restaurants that are particularly good at the things they do. Catch a White Sox game with Balta. Drive through wine country. If you're here in the winter there's lots of skiing surprisingly close. Number of national parks (Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree) that are close. Lots of expensive shopping districts if that's your thing (Rodeo Drive, Santa Monica Pier/3rd st. Promenade). The Hollywood Bowl. Disney. Lots of good beach. The Hollywood sign/Griffith Park/Griffith Observatory.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) they hit like .305 with RISP last year. Does anyone really think they're going to be able to do that again? The last 5 years they've never hit below .271 with RISP, and they've been in the top 5 in the league in BA with RISP 3 of those 5 years. They may not hit over .300 again, but they're above .270 with RISP every year, and if I could do cumulative over the last 5 years they'd be very near the top.
