  1. Getz leadoff walk. Beckham solid single up the middle, Wise up. Wise k's on 3 pitches. Lucy Flies fairly deep to left 2 out. Anderson up. Anderson pops out to SS. Inning over.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) I made that post before I read that article (which I posted in the Owens thread). I still think if Wise continues to hit .350+ in the spring he's going to be the leadoff man on Opening Day. I'm really not looking forward to having potentially 2 guys taking 1 pitch each before Q comes up every game. Anderson, Restovich, Lucy in.
  3. Beckham robs Pena on a diving catch. Groundout to Getz by someone named Robinson? Beckham throws out Bloomquist. Quick inning for Williams.
  4. Davies in for the Royals. Konerko flies out. Fields K's. 123 go the Sox.
  5. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) That isn't necessarily true either. The Wednesday Journal, which is an Oak Park local is either closing/selling a bunch of its affiliates. Mostly they are Chicago residential communities. For instance, the Wicker Park/Bucktown/Uk. Village one is being shuttered. The other ones, mostly north side, are being sold off and either closed or combined. Now the Oak Park, Forest Park, Riverside, etc. are fine. But, the print media, as a whole, are in trouble. The thing that is hurting free print media is that a number of their classic revenue sources are cutting back. Either ad sales are cutting back because of the recession, or if they're carrying classified ads, people are buying fewer classifieds because they can find the same info free online (Craigslist). That's a major hurt on even the big ones...classifieds used to be a major revenue source and they're drying up now that there are major free options.
  6. Butler Doubles over Wise's head. 6-3 Royals. Randy Williams in. Gordon grounds to Kroeger, 1 out, Butler moves to 3rd with 1 out. Buck grounds sharply to Fields, Fields forces Butler back to 3rd and throws to 1st to get Buck. Gload Flies to Wise in shallow CF, inning over.
  7. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) you're right, it's german wasserman was pulled after recording 2 outs That's what I thought. My line about the Royals Air Force bombing German wouldn't make much sense if he wasn't in.
  8. Is wasserman still in? The Royals announcers said German came in.
  9. German comes in. Crisp with another walk, he's pinch-run for. Teahen homers to RF. 4-3 Royals. DeJesus singles up the middle. Pinch-run for by Costa. German getting bombed pretty hard by the RAF (Royals Air Force). Costa steals 2b, bad throw by AJ, Beckham saves it from CF on the leap. Jacobs doubles down the 1b line past Kroeger, run scores, 5-3 Royals.
  10. QUOTE (Cowch @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) I sure hope Wise doesn't suck as our starting CF. If Anderson is on the bench so that we can use him as a platoon player, and he's at the end of the order (AKA not leading off), I might be willing to go with him there as a tryout.
  11. Beckham walks Wise with a perfect bunt hugging the 3rd base line on the first pitch. 2 on, 0 out, Wise's 2nd hit today. AJ with a successful sacrifice bunt on his 2nd attempt. 2nd and 3rd, 1 out. Q Sac fly, Becks scores, Wise to 3rd. 2 RBI today for Q. 3-2 Sox.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) Wonder when they confirm if Barack Obama will be there at USCF on April 6th for Opening Day to throw out the first pitch? You know he won't go to a Nationals game instead. Probably at the earliest a couple days beforehand, first and foremost for security reasons, second and fairly far behind because you don't want to have to cancel in the event of a national emergency if you can avoid it.
  13. Richard seems to be ok according to the Royals announcers.
  14. Gonzalez thinks there's a "good chance" that a fairly famous Sox Fan will be throwing out the first pitch opening day, in his words.
  15. Jacobs lines a single over Beckham to lead off. Gordon lines a single to RF. 2 on, 1 out. Buck walks, bases loaded for Gload. Gload hits the ball off of Richard's leg, 2 runs score. Richard coming out after taking that shot. Wasserman in, still 2 runners on, 1 out. Wasserman breaks Pena's bat, he lines it to Wasserman, Wasserman throws to third, 1-5 double play, inning over on 1 pitch by Ehren.
  16. Kroeger flies out to the track in CF. Fields K's swinging. Getz grounds to Billy Butler, wierd hop and he deals with it. 123 that inning.
  17. Pena flies out fairly deep to Wise. Crisp walks. Teahen lines a ball off Beckham's glove, he recovers and gets the force at 2b. DeJesus pops out short to Wise. 3 down. Fairly quick inning.
  18. Wise flies out to LF on the 2nd pitch. AJ Singles on a ground ball up the middle. Q singles, 2 on 1 out. Dye K's swinging on a high fastball. Konerko grounds to short, inning.
  19. Other pitchers today: Mike MacDougal, Ehren Wasserman, Franklyn German, that williams guy. Kyle Davies and some other guy who's name I don't know on the schedule for the Royals.
  20. Jacobs grounds to Getz. Butler K's on 3 pitches. Gordon broken bat base hit to CF. Full count to Buck, then he works a walk. Gload flies out to Q. Inning over.
  21. Slayer grounds out to Gordon at 3rd. Inning over.
  22. Fields...boom, to RF. 2-0 Sox. On the first pitch, out to right center.
  23. Richard gets the double play to eliminate crisp, and takes care of the inning. Konerko grounds out softly, Kroeger grounds out but its closer.
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) Yea the way Wise is hitting this spring, I think at this point it's his job to lose. Wise only has 14 at bats in A games though.
