  1. Lillibridge doubles off of Macias's glove in RF. Lillibridge takes the lead for the CF job.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) They need to get this Franken/Coleman thing sorted out right quick. This is becoming unfair to the people of Minnesota. Trial, investigation, whatever, finish the damn thing off please. It's been over for well over a month, the last month has just been a formality...which is of course fairly well funded because it extends the time that one party only has 58 Senators.
  3. Cliff Floyd pinch hits for Chris Young, hits a home run down the line to RF. Game tied, 2-2.
  4. Anderson works a full count then pops to shallow right. Inning over. Maybe a month in AAA will give him time to get his swing/head right. He looked so much better in spring last year, and it showed in his #'s.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) Scoring Floyd? Correctamundo.
  6. Fields walks, Anderson comes up with the bases loaded...Brian...seriously, stop this crap and hit the ball.
  7. Wise retired on a bouncing ground ball up the middle.
  8. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Sounds like Owens gave up the run on that play. Misplayed it pretty bad. Good to hear. Based on the 2006 standard, that play just ensured him the CF spot.
  9. Owens fails to grab a ball on a dive, ball gets past him, goes to the wall, Macias (took a questionable walk with AJ trying to head to the bench) scores, game tied 1-1.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) Owens leading Anderson in the race to the Mendoza Line, .194 to .185. Gavin Floyd gets a strikeout with his slider? Sure it wasn't his curve? They keep call him throwing his slider and not curve....interesting. The Padre announcers don't necessarily know what's going on.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 01:18 PM) Owens making outs is a very good thing. All 4 of our potential CF's in this lineup doing so however... Gavin K's Blanks Gerut grounds to Lillibridge
  12. "This kid, what's his name, Gavin Floyd, he's got pretty good stuff up there" - Padre announcer.
  13. Fields hits it off the wall for a sliding-in double. Anderson grounds weakly to short, Fields does advance. Lillibridge grounds out, Fields unable to score.
  14. Konerko hits it in to the BUllpen on a 1-2 pitch. 1-0 Sox.
  15. The other Chris Young on the mound for the Padres today. 1-2-3 go the Sox in the first.
  16. At least we see a lot of the guys who are getting tryout chances.
  17. If you put someone in front of him who is moderately patient and can take a walk, I love Alexei in the 2 hole in front of the power guys. He doesn't strike out a lot, is going to put the ball in play, and will benefit from having pitchers be in a position to have to throw strikes to him.
  18. We've got 4 picks in the first 2 rounds this year. I have no problem with one or two of them being spent on some guys who can run.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) Look, I should say, it is POSSIBLE that Dewayne Wise has suddenly "figured it out", at age 31 with 6 years bouncing between AAA and the majors. But using that logic, how is it that we are dismissing that possibility entirely for a 27 year old Owens with a lot less time in? Or for that matter, with David Cook, who I think is 26? Because, quite simply, look at the trend lines. In 2005 at AAA, Wise put up a .639 OPS. In 2006 at AAA, after some time at AA tearing it up, he put up a .796 OPS. In 2007 he put up a .757, in somewhat limited playing time (was he hurt?). In 2007 at AAA he put up a .967 OPS at AAA and a .757 OPS in the big leagues. His numbers are at least going the right way. Owens's #'s are going the wrong way. I will choose not to comment on Cook because I'm going to wind up agreeing with you.
