Richard pushing in as potential 6th starter
Balta1701 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I still go with Marquez. Richard's role as 2nd lefty in the pen is wide open. -
Please tell me we face the Royals a couple times in the first few weeks of the season so that we get a shot at him before he's cut.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) Sure. But it goes through a process that's (more) open, not this shoving s*** in at the last minute that no one knows about. So in other words, you have no problem with the concept of buying votes, you just care about the mechanism of how its done? It sounds like I've rapidly killed your principles there.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 07:30 AM) I'm guessing the market's about stabilized now, and stopped bleeding. I'm guessing that there's a lot more in the pipe. Remember, with some volatility, the DJIA was basically fairly flat or even up a little bit from late November, when the $300 billion for Citigroup was announced through early Feb. when the winter earnings season started.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 07:27 AM) Isn't the $180 actually a line of credit and AIG's actually only been given around 40B? Significantly more than $40 billion has already been spent.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 11:28 PM) I do not have a problem with funding things if it goes through the appropriate processes (going through committee, getting into the budget, and voted on). This buy off of votes, though, is bulls***. Do you think things that go through committees aren't also used as ways of buying off votes? Since we're on defense spending, that's perhaps the perfect example. Very little of that is funded through earmarks, but since the materials and bases are in so many districts, adding in an extra B-2 or an extra carrier for $10-$20 billion gives us an extra plane/boat that we really don't need, but it makes sure stuff passes.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 05:47 AM) Anybody else expecting a Bulls loss tonight? Thats been their MO the past few weeks. Look great at home, beating all the top teams in the league, then head on the road, and get beat by lottery teams. I'm hoping they dont lose, but its just what they have been doing. I'm sure the 8-man rotation doesnt help the back-to back games either. It's not surprising for a team like the Bulls to play much more solid at home on the road and to struggle in back to back games. They're poorly coached and young, so they aren't good at handling pressure on the road and their rotations have been silliness all season.

I love how his OBP is lower than his BA.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) Please turn it around BA, we NEED you to win this job. Anderson could have hit .600 this spring and it still would have started as a platoon.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) well, this new feud between me and Mr.Obama can easily be remedied with a some front row sox ticket bribes from the president. They will be at your door in a large envelope shortly. Do not be concerned if the envelope is ticking...that is just, um, the new receipts. We've instituted a new anti-identity-theft receipt, and yeah, it ticks.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) I figured German was AAA fodder from the get-go, but, I see your point. I'll add him to the initial post. Still no Nunez?
-
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) glenn beck is supposed to be comedy too; from what i can tell. so is glenn beck is the new Rush Limbaugh? i can't keep up with the feuds. so now Obama will be complaining about Glenn Beck. seems pointless, to be honest. Because I am Barack Obama. Therefore, Obama has now gone from feuding with Limbaugh, rapidly through feuding with Glenn Beck, to feuding with Mr. Genius.
-
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) that comparison is better. lets go with that. At least one of them realizes he's running a comedy show.
-
I note that you didn't include Nunez on your list. Did he get reassigned while I wasn't watching? As of the last stat update he hasn't given up a run in A games, although he got hit around a bit in a B game IIRC.

Make it a 3/5 day for Anderson, now up to .283. 3/5 on the day for Betemit also. Alexei 0/5. AJ 2/4, guess he decided he needed to keep pushing that .467 BA higher.

RotoWorld Suggests White Sox should sign Jim Edmonds

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) Last year Chris Young scored 85 runs, had 22 homers, had 85 rbi's, and 14 stolen bases, that's not something Anderson can do. Sure Young had a .248 average, but he actually produces and, as another person mentioned, Young would be pretty good in the 7, 8, or 9 spots in the lineup, and I wouldn't even mind if he batted leadoff. With that .315 OBP? and 165 k's? There's a reason the D-Backs stopped having him lead off, he was a disaster at leadoff. Last year, Chris Young had 625 at bats. In his career, Brian Anderson has 597 at bats, including his really rough stint his first few months which probably wouldn't represent his average performance now. In those 597 at bats, Anderson has 18 home runs, 76 runs scored, 62 RBI, has 10 steals, 154k, and a handful fewer walks. If I did the data massaging to exclude April, May, and June of 06 when he was really bad, his numbers would get even better. Chris Young and Brian Anderson right now are so close to the same player it's really not funny. Young may well still have substantial upside. Frankly, so may Anderson. And quite simply, for both of them it will come down to whether or not they can cut down on the strikeouts. They have the same basic flaw. -
Anderson now 2/4 on the day, up to hitting .263. Getting slowly better.

So, FWIW, I'm going to chime in here and back Chris Dodd a little bit...(Flying Monkeys, fear not, you'll like who I'm shifting the blame on to!) If you go back to the during-the-stimulus-debate discussion, the actual executive compensation clause that Dodd wrote, inserted, and got passed in the stimulus bill was actually quite a bit stronger than the one in the final version. It specifically was retroactive, requiring rewriting of contracts that had been reached long before the bailout. The problem is...it was weakened substantially during the conference discussion, such that it would no longer apply retroactively. And the reason it was weakened appears to be...Summers and Geithner wanted it weakened. That one is on the President.

There's no telling if Gates and the President will win it...but it seems like they're gearing up for the fight of their lives. THAT would be change we can believe in.

Carrasco getting shelled. 4 run 7th. Hey, Anderson has an OF assist today.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) well, compared to the NY Times, just about everyone is a moderate. Based on the standard you guys apply when labeling someone a leftist...Glenn Beck is a moderate.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) I used to hide in the closet because the RA went around from room to room. We had so many the RA's stopped caring about checking.
