  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 11:27 AM) That's my best guess, it looks like they're just going to skip Danks' spot in the rotation and Gardy loves to get his best starter out there especially when it would be with full rest against the Sox. Win win for Gardenhire. With Buehrle taking that shot in the hand, I think the Sox would be crazy to skip Danks's spot in the rotation personally. Give MB this extra day as a gift. Heck, if Danks goes...we might be able to shuffle around the rotation enough to hold Mark out until the end of the Oakland series, giving him an extra day off with the offday on the 12th.
  2. There is something really creepy about this...
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) But then how would we get him if Crede is staying? And Aybar probably isn't ready-enough to be a good leadoff hitter. I know. But I can dream can't I? I love the numbers that kid has put up, and he could well be ready to be leading off before the end of this year. But Stonemann almost never gives up on any of his prospects for anything, so who knows. Actually...if we do wind up in total rebuilding mode this year, the Angels should fit on the "potential trading partner" list along with the Dodgers and the Mets...they probably will be in a position where they could use either a starter or a good right handed DH type bat (Buehrle or Dye).
  4. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 09:33 AM) Then we'd need to find a bonifide leadoff hitter at either SS or 2B, since no one on the team would be a good leadoff hitter if that was the case. And please don't say Iguchi, he'd be a horrible leadoff hitter, IMO. Erick Aybar.
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 05:07 AM) This is one of those really stupid ideas that no one ever supports, yet somehow get passed. It doesn't reflect the values of any Americans. Yes it does. The executives at Disney and Universal studios and a few nightclub owners around Orlando, who make an awful lot of money on tourists.
  6. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 09:17 AM) The White Sox indeed see Sweeney as their future no. 3 hitter. If he develops his power, he can become a 25-30 homer guy, plus he has decent speed which is good for the 3-hole, and is a good average guy as well. I'm going to agree on this...if both of them hit their top levels...Anderson and Sweeney would make an ideal 2-3 combo for about 8 years. But the question of course remains whether or not both of them will top out. Sweeney's only missing a little bit of power stroke right now...Anderson needs to cut down on the k's and you know...play baseball.
  7. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 08:42 AM) ONe thing that I'm surprised no one has brought up is the fact that he was the GM of the team for awhile. What other broadcaster has done THAT for their team? He has an inner knowledge of the White Sox from the owners on down to the players. And it goes deep and way back. And he also fired Tony LaRussa. How many broadcasters can say that?!
  8. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 09:10 PM) Brandon Wood is the best SS prospect in the game today, in the minds of many scouts. They'll trade Erick Aybar, but I don't think they will part so easily with Wood. Brandon Wood has been moved to 3rd base.
  9. If we're talking potential...Andy Sisco. He *could* be the best of the 3. Big lefty with a big fastball. That has Randy Johnson written all over it. But his problem is of course control. He throws strikes at 95+ for 7 innings, and it's shutdown time for everyone else. But right now, who *would* be the best starter? Nick Masset, plain and simple. He has the pitch selection to be a starter, what with a breaking ball, 2 seamer, and 4 seamer, with the latter 2 in the low-mid 90's and possibly better as the season goes on. And he knows how to throw them all for strikes. Sisco at the top of his potential is a better starter than Masset, but right now, Masset would be.
  10. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 08:49 AM) So do they push the rotation back? Does this mean we don't have to see Santana on Sunday? Depends on a couple things. They may well decide to try to reschedule this game as a double-header this weekend, but they're probably waiting on weather forecasts to make that decision. If both teams do push back their rotation a day, and there is no double-header, yes, that would mean that we miss Santana. However, this is the Twins/White Sox we're talking about. Which means...Johan could still throw on Sunday on 5 days rest. So if the Twins wanted to, they could tell Mr. Silva or Mr. Ponson that they're bumping back their suckiness to some day when the Twins aren't facing the White Sox, and Santana could still go. The thing that this does do to help, if there is no double-header this weekend, is it gives Mark Buehrle an extra day to recover. It also gives Mr. Contreras an extra day to rest/work...and perhaps most importantly, it gives that White Sox bullpen a complete day off, with a guy going on Saturday who usually eats innings. I will say though...Danks vs. Santana would be an interesting matchup, considering we've seen McCarthy/Santana before.
  11. You know what really grinds my gears? People who don't like the Hawk. That's what.
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) Maybe Phillips is still the ace of the Knights ball club? Certainly didn't show it tonight.
  13. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 06:16 PM) Wait... whats going on? I thought Mark is still scheduled to pitch his next start... Am I missing something here? According to Ozzie after the game you're correct...but I can't figure out why Floyd didn't start today if there wasn't some chance of him getting a callup.
  14. Floyd I believe was scheduled to go tonight...the Tribune had him listed first in their run-down of Charlotte's pitching staff, and other places had him starting, but it wound up being Phillips. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Heath was inserted as a starter after Buehrle was hit.

    Rocking on!

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 05:52 PM) They warn you about these things when you get to around 18000.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) You guys are such losers! Hab SoSlI' Quch!
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) That is the one thing that bothers me is when these laws are used to move these guys to other cities. What we need is laws that move them all into 1 city together.
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) Maybe the radar guns become out-of-synch after being put on the shelfs for about 3-4 months... True, but then you'd think we'd hear similar remarks every year, and right now it sounds particularly bad.
  19. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) You're only further validating Haeger by suggesting his next start will coincide with Buehrle's. Unless Floyd will be held back all together from starting these next several days, it wouldn't be too smart to have him travel to Chicago on short rest. I don't think that's what I was saying at all. If both Buehrle and Floyd pitch today, that means if we need someone to pitch the next time Buehrle's spot in the rotation comes up, Floyd would be on 4 days rest, aka normal rest, that day. So Floyd would not be on short rest, but its entirely possible Charlie would be either on extra-long rest or short rest if he had to take over Buehrle's spot, since Charlie is probably penciled in to pitch tomorrow.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) If the White Sox are precautious with Buehrle and he misses a start, I expect Haeger to be called up first. Selecting Floyd proves Williams is intent on pushing his acquisition ahead of the better pitcher. There's more to it than that...Floyd is scheduled to pitch the charlotte opener tonight. That'd put him pitching the same day as Buehrle is scheduled to go next week as well. Not sure when Charlie threw last, but it's possible that for 1 start, shifting that many people around wouldn't be the best idea.
  21. I was just saying in the game thread that this seems like a common complaint early in the season and not just on the south side. The Padres/Giants announcers last night were saying that a bunch of scouts were complaining that none of the radar guns seemed to be matching up this year.
  22. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) Umm... what are you talking about? Kinda bringing this up out of no-where, but MacDaddy has always pitched between 94-96, and today I think he was around there as well. I am fairly certain that the radar gun for the tv was off by 3-4 mph consistantly. I was watching some of the Giants/Padres game last night, and they were saying that a bunch of scouts around the league have been complaining about the radar guns this season and how none of them seem to be agreeing. I wonder if there's a new model of gun or something that's being introduced.
  23. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) Thank God we can relax now and look forward tomorrow to facing... Santana... ;p That's interesting, because the scheduled pitcher for tomorrow is Carlos Silva. And for Saturday its Sidney Ponson. Sunday is that thing that destroys everyone.
  24. Through the accent, it sounds like Ozzie is saying Buehrle should be ready for his next start in the postgame interview.
  25. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) Great game by Masset. Is there any chance he could eventually be a starter or is he only projected to be a bullpen arm? That was impressive today. There's a reasonable chance he could start at some point, in fact he's talking about it on the postgame show. Right now the line for the rotation seems pretty full...but you never really know. He may well have the stuff to do it.
