I look at the teams Roy Williams has been on and success has been pretty evasive for them. edit- On second thought, I really dont know which statement applies to which player. Wasn't Roy Williams cut? -

I actually have no idea what the Bears plan is during the free agency period. I'm guessing there isn't one. -

If thats true he should've been signed yesterday. The guys gets put in a situation where he might as well be our #1 WR so he can prove himself, and we assume no long term risk for bad play or injury problems. -

I really dislike Roy Williams and would be very unhappy if he was a Chicago Bear. I dont care if we pay him $1/year for the next 4 years, it would still be really hard rooting for him to succeed. The other options are pretty underwhelming too but at least I could root for them. -

If I'm a GM I'm looking to trade every draft pick I have other than my 1st rounder every year for veteran players who've at least shown they are capable of playing at an NFL level. How many 3rd rounders next season do you really think will be as good as Greg Olsen? I'm guessing around 5, maybe 1 other guy who winds up being some super awesome find by a lucky front office and is actually better. The value of NFL draft picks is absolutely insane. They're all free tickets to whatever player you could possibly want. -

Except when the Bears are trash this year because they wont get half as lucky as they did last season, a bunch of assistants get fired and the Lovie/Jerry regime is back on the hotseat we'll look back to July 28th 2011 and ask "Why did we get rid of a good TE when all we got was a 3rd rounder spent on a slow white guy who projects at best to special teams in the NFL?". Angelo, Martz and Lovie all know their fates are intertwined; and if it means gutting the team of good talent to save each other's ass they'll do it. The Bears are due for a stretch of legendarily bad football when our best defenders all get old and contracts of the guys who still produce are nearing their end. -
Hyperpartisanship is threatening to destroy our country
DukeNukeEm replied to Jack Parkman's topic in The Filibuster
The internet has made partisanship an unstoppable back and forth. There's no slowing it down. Your best bet is to just watch the empire fall, remember the good times, and spend time wondering about things that you can control/actually matter. -
You start the guy who's been our best pitcher for the last decade.

You do whatever you can to make sure Miguel Cabrera doesn't represent the tying run at the plate. -
Big win.

Oh man, not trying to be a dick but this right here is Soxtalk at its finest. The guy has arguably been the best linebacker in the NFL over the past 5 seasons, been integral to a championship team and been for the most part a total beast on the field. If every team in the draft passed on Harrison because his attitude problems they probably feel pretty bad about it now. If anyone knew he was going to be this good he's a #1 overall pick.
-
Well until he does just that I'll keep on appreciating the things he says. Im not holding my breath btw.

Im in the camp who thinks some of these things should be said.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/early-...lLwCI_blog.html James Harrison, I love you man.

Yea but people are all about free t-shirts. Have you ever seen the full scale war that gets started when the girls with the shirt-bazookas come out? By the way--I woke up this morning and still felt terrific about the Heat losing.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread

Im sure the Mavericks cant wait to enjoy all of the honors and privileges of being from s***hole Ohio. -
No way. This Miami Heat thing is so incredibly risky from a legacy perspective, who knows how long these guys will stick together if they dont win? Does an old ass Phil Jackson really want to deal with it? Not to mention the Eastern Conference in the coming years is not going to get any easier. The Bulls are probably going to make a lot of improvements from a player development perspective, the Knicks could work on that roster more and become a contender and then you have the Dwight Howard/Chris Paul mess coming up that could spring Orlando (or someone else) into a position much better than the Heat's. The more you look at it this was the Heat's shot to establish themselves.
-
Is it not painfully obvious at this point that LeBron James is an entirely uncoachable player who undermines any coaches ability to effectively manage the roster?
-
I love sports because of moments like these. This is a lesson every dad who watched this series is gonna teach their kids, there are no easy ways to success. If you're a loser you're gonna lose no matter how good of a situation you put yourself in. f*** LeBron, kings get rings.
-
IIRC Boozer had some pretty decent games in the Heat series.
-
LeBron has scored a combined 2 points in the 4th quarter of the last 2 games.
-
The same Chris Bosh who has routinely outplayed James in these finals?
-
LeBron James is the biggest fraud we have ever seen in professional sports.
