QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 09:47 AM)It's hard to tell on my laptop, the lights here in the lecture hall are incredibly bright and mess with the display.
Damn, bright lights, broken Caps Lock keys, pot stirring. All the makings of a good day for Kalapse.

This thread is starting to make my head hurt from laughter and confusion.

::shrug:: I know for a fact he was guilty. The guy was a pedophile through and through. He used to fool around with the girls on the soccer team he coached and did a bunch of things that these girls told me about. Most of it was consensual, though, and most of the girls really liked him (he's fairly young, although not in his twenties) and so they never saw a reason to report his behavior. Which is fair enough. I wouldn't report a girl for consensual sex even if she was over the age limit.
You wouldnt report a person having sex with a minor because it was consensual? It isnt consensual unless the kid is over 18, until then it is statuatory rape and sexual assault of a minor. I am having a really hard time believing that you turned a blind eye to this guy because you felt that it was consensual.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 09:14 AM)FWIW- The highlight of Sundays game was Bobby Jenks dusting off Sweeney in the bottom of the 9th inning at about 97 mph. It should have been done a long time ago.
You know, when that happened I thought Sweeney was hurt, and I still do. When he landed, he REALLY arched his back and the look on his face was "That was NOT good". He puts so much pressure and torque on his back when he swings, I think that if he actually did hurt himself in that AB it will come out sooner or later. Its really too bad, if Sweeney actually could have stayed healthy for his career then KCs fortunes throughout the latter half of the 90's could have been drastically different.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 09:15 AM)You may be "busting on him", I however and giving out sound advice.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 09:13 AM)Weak and unenthused it's almost as if you're whispering. I think all caps would solve that problem but hey that's just my opinion.

QUOTE(White Sox Fan For Life @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 09:09 AM)When you read my posts how does it sound to you?
Capitalization usually indicates excitement or yelling. indicates crying.
So it seems like you are yelling and crying a lot.

QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 11:54 PM)Honestly, if the cubs by any chance make it to the world series and win, this town is totally going to put the Sox right back as the second cities ball club and forget about what we did. Every god damn cub fan is going to make it seem like our World Series never happend. I don't want that to happen. This is why we need to win this thing again. I would love to play the cubs in the World Series just like in 1906 and beat their asses just like what we did to the astros. This would end this s***ty feud proving once and for all that the Sox are #1.
Wow, that is some serious optimism you have going on. You would think that the season is more than 6 games old. :headshake

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 08:49 AM)Flavor Flav has been saying it for years now:
"You better wake up and smell the real flavor
Cause 911 is a fake life saver
So get up, get, get get down
911 is a joke in yo town
Get up, get, get, get down
Late 911 wears the late crown
Ow, ow 911 is a joke "
Who ever thought that Flavor Flav lyrics could be used in a serious conversation about saving lives. After watching some of his VH1 moneymakers(I refuse to call them shows, that guy makes money off of VH1 shows and then blows it all and makes another one), it amazes me that a verse can actually be bouncing around in his brain.

In semi-related news, Mark Turgeon accepted a contract extension at WSU that is supposed to get him close to 1 million per year.

QUOTE(White Sox Fan For Life @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 08:40 AM)Well I am a die hard sox fan! I wish that I didn't have to work! But I can't fix that can I! Especially since we all need to work to make a living some way or another! What the hell is so wrong with my friends giving me updates about the game? Hey last year I felt so bad because I really didn't pay attention to my White Sox that much because of my busy life and I felt really bad! I made a vow to myself that I will always try to keep up with the White Sox organization no matter where I am! I don't know why you are giving me such a hard time, at least I am trying to be updated!
Well, your vow should include scheduling.
There is no White Sox game tonite. This is why we are giving you such a hard time. Remove your finger from the smiley button and Chillax.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/04/10/911.lawsuit/index.html
Robert Turner, who was 5 at the time, called 911 on February 20 and reported that his mother, who had an enlarged heart, had collapsed.The boy told CNN he tried to shake her and called 911 for help when he couldn't wake her.
He quoted a dispatcher as telling him, "Stop playing on the phone." The child called back three hours later, but it was hours after that before anyone came to his home, said Fieger.
At a news conference announcing the filing of the suit, Fieger said Robert Turner's case is not the only one.He played another 911 tape from January 12, 2005, in which a woman who had been shot in the head by her husband called 911.
On the tape, the operator can be heard asking the woman if she has a mental problem and then asking that the husband who shot the woman be put on the phone. Rescuers did not come until a third call was placed by the woman's son, who lives out of state.
The woman in that case, said Fieger, lived but is paralyzed. He said the second case "indicates to the city that they have a problem that needs to be addressed."

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 08:22 AM)Noted.
Also, I'm not usually around for night game threads, but did "get 'er done" make a cameo a time or two?
Yeah. But with the (lack of) success of the Larry the Cable Guy movie, I think it was retired in embarrassment.

When Tiger was focused completely on Golf, and nothing but Golf, Mickelson couldnt stand in the same room with him in terms of competition. Now that Tiger seems to have all these things going on in his life(his fathers declining health first and foremost, he got married, has his foundations, etc.), he isnt winning as much and Mickelson seems to be taking charge. It will be interesting in the next couple years to see what happens.
Cubs fans think their going all the way?

The Cubs are now losing 9-0, Will Ohman just gave up a grand slam to Edwin Encarnacion and a solo shot to Adam Kearns back to back. Then, Jacque Jones came off the field because of some non-apparent injury that he suffered while waiting for Michael Wuertz to warm up when he replaced Ohman. f***ing hilarious.
