  1. How about this little tidbit :

Juan Gonzalez has done things in a big way throughout his career. His latest injury follows that pattern. Instead of sustaining a ``normal'' hamstring pull in his first at-bat of the season Tuesday night, Gonzalez yanked his right medial hamstring totally off the bone at the knee joint. Indians head trainer Lonnie Soloff called it a ``significant injury,'' adding that Gonzalez ``felt it pop, and it came right off the bone.'' To be technically correct, the tendon attached to the hamstring was torn off the (tibia) bone. ``Juan might be out up to three months,'' Soloff said. ``This is an uncommon injury in baseball players. Right now, it's quite swollen and sore. We'll re-examine him in two weeks after the pain and swelling subside. A determination on when he can return to play will be made then.''

Does Juan ever train? does he ever do anything to help him through a season? The Indians have to be kicking themselves for trusting Gonzalez, 600K or not.

And even if he ends up going .500, just like he did against the Cubs and Rangers, that'll be a lot better than what we saw last year from our 5th starter spot.

McCarthy got one loss and a ND? He was on the hook for both of the runners on base when Dubois hit the homerun. Sox lost both games

One question - who do you think will trade for Kendall if the As do go on a firesale?

He is making tons of $ too and I doubt Beane keeps him around while rebuilding....

    Thoughts?

I think Beane is probably going to realize that Kendall is just as unmovable in Oakland as he was in Pittsburgh. Its gonna take alot to get him off their hands, given his position, declining BA, questionable health, etc.

It could be enough to run them out of town.

I disagree with this, only because the A's arent a big draw anyways. Chavez doesnt pack them in any more just because he is in the lineup. The A's have a hard time getting anyone in the stadium during the playoffs, much less the regular season.

I'd rather have Chavez than Abreu.  Chavez plays a tougher position where we have a definite hole offensively.  Abreu is 31 years old, Chavez is only 27.  Also, we have Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney performing well in the minors while Josh Fields is struggling.  A 3rd baseman is more of a need than an outfielder.

Just a thought, does trading for Chavez make Fields expendable in the near future??

Punto just went down with some sort of hamstring injury.  Too bad he hit that 2-run homer first.

damn, those guys are dropping like flies on a twinkie

    Stolen from an ESPN.com chat:

"News: Justin Morneau was removed in the 5th inning of Thursday's game against Cleveland with a left elbow strain. He was replaced by Matt LeCroy.Analysis: Morneau will be re-evaluated after the game. The extent of his injury is unknown at this time."

If he was plunked, i dont think they would call it a strain. I think it would be called a bruise. Strain sounds to me like he landed on it funny.

I dont know if anyone cares, but Dan Patrick will be talking Eric Chavez soon on the Dan Patrick Show on ESPN 1000.  He didn't say when but I think it will be on between now and the next 30 minutes. I don't know what they will be talking about, but there might be something in their segment regarding a trade involving him.

Im at work now, keep me updated :)

Alot more varying opinions.  More hard baseball talk ..... obviously because there are alot more posters.

Dont get me wrong, I like posting on WXing. But when it became a pay site it was hard to jump on the game discussions and even harder to argue your point for a period of time. I still put my 2 cents in when it applies :D
