I saw it too. They said that Kenny wont give up any everyday players and that if they did get Shmidt itd probably be for minor leaguers excluding McCarthy and Anderson. Thatd be a good trade for the team. Youd strenghthen your rotation and bullpen. Your rotation(not in this order) would be Buerhle, Garcia, Garland, Schmidt, and Contreras. You could move El Duque to the bullpen for long relief and send away Viz. Thatd be a hella of a rotation

I just thought it would be fun to see who you think should start and to see if you are right when they announce today who the starter will be. Also tell us why you think he should start. My pick is for Halladay. Coming into today he has 11 wins for a team that is the worst from the ones in the poll, he has the most IP with 131 which is always an impressive power stat, 107 hits allowed, only 16 BB, he is third in the league with 98 K's, leads the league with a 2.40 ERA, leads the league with a 0.94 WHIP, and is second in the league with opponents batting .222.

GAME THREAD 7-3-2005 SOX vs A's
Ozzie Montana replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
This game went the A's way when we had Ozuna on with a bunt hit and a steal, then we got him over to 3rd with Widgers bunt but we did not score. Then Buerhle had a mental lapse and threw the ball away on a traditional double play where the A's scored 4 times. I noticed that yesterday when Garland had the bases loaded he forgot about it and got the guys out. Buerhle kept on giving up hits to all four runs to score. Atleast we get out of Oakland tonight and we got the Devil Rays at home. -
For all of those who were interested in Quantrill he was taken by the Padres. Here the info. Padres: Quantrill acquired from Yanks for two pitchers According to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Padres addressed some of their bullpen needs by acquiring reliever Paul Quantrill from the Yankees in exchange for struggling pitchers Darrell May and Tim Redding on Friday. Both teams have yet to make an announcement today. The report speculates that Quantrill will report to the Padres today, while May will be a part of the Yankees bullpen, and Redding will report to Triple-A Columbus.

Agree 100%. If he gets it like Garland has gotten it this year he will be very nasty for hitters. Right now he's a decent number 5 pitcher.

Ozzie hasnt said when he's coming off the DL but here's the article. "Hernandez not ready yet; McCarthy goes on Monday" http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-doug01.html

Contreras is either hit or miss. He is diminating or his is awful. ^^^This doesnt help his cause either. I would like to see some consistency out of him. Like going 6 or seven innings each start, give up 3 runs. Ozzie and Coop have to work on his confidence and consistency. I dont know how theyre gunna do it... but it has to be done.

White Sox at A's 7/2 Gamethread
Ozzie Montana replied to AddisonStSox's topic in 2005 Season in Review
I hope Jon brings his A game. Our offense needs to take their heads out of their @sses and start being more consistent. One good thing to note, yesterday Takatsu definately showed signs that he is turning it around. He wasnt nit-picking and was attacking with the fastball and using the frizbee effectively. -
how many runs did they actually bat in instead of us giving it to them? just curious.
-
I actually agree with DJ. Contreras has to be the most stubborn pitcher on the team. Why cant he just throw strikes and stop being a wus. YOU ARE GETTING PAID 8 mil. to throw strikes not to throw 3 wild pitches and 7 f**king walks. or get lost. ... And why is Ozzie putting in Walker, he's there for long relief. The first mistake is putting him in a tight game and the second is taking him out after the second batter. Youre just using up the bullpen, Ozzie. We have a chance to win this and our pitching is giving it away. Must be an Oakland curse.
-
I predict we win 2 of 3, because we got Garland tomarrow and Buerhle on Sunday. But Im not too confident with Contreras on the bunk against Harden. This whole series will be a good pitching duel. Contreras vs. Harden, Garland vs. Saarloos, and Buerhle vs. Mr. '12-6' Zito.

McCarthy to start on July 4th against the D-Rays
Ozzie Montana replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
^Exactly what I would have done. Im glad Ozzie is looking at the road ahead for the Sox and I still wanna see what McCarthys got at the major league. -
He basically said he is resticted to the players(not pitchers) he can pick. Said that Podesdnik's 38 steals are impressive but agrees with the sub guy for Mike North that people look at homeruns and power numbers and not the players who affect their team the most that dont carry these numbers, (sort of like an unsung hero I think). Francona jokes around about Podsednik, says hed be in if he were a Yankee or Red Sox.

^topic talks allitle about Podsednik

The sad thing is we dont get a chance to vote for the pitchers as well. Id be cool if we could atleast vite the starting pitchers in and the the manager can select the reserves.
-
A small ball team gets the man on, gets him over, and gets him in. They don't swing for the fences, but they go the other direction. They beat you with speed, pitching, and defense. We do that, but i think we depend more on speed, pitching and defense than on the situational hitting.

Who Is The Best Sox Player This Year?
Ozzie Montana replied to Southside hitmen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Buerhle sets the table for the other starters and he has been of some help to Garland for his success. His numbers are remarkable and is always reliable to give our bullpen a breather. -

And if Frank gets injured rounding the bases, who do you blame, Ozzie. :headshake :headshake :headshake -

This stint where we cant hit is like last year, just waiting for the homerun. Im happy we got the homer but these guys got to hit the other way and shorten up those swings and eventually the homers will find the hitters. -

9 in a row retired by Garica. Can we get him some offensive support here.
