  1. Hey come on everyone. That Tejeda guy has some of the best stuff I've see around. Sometimes you have to just tip your cap. /Hawk impersonation
  2. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 10:36 AM) What's the difference? You can kill a person with a gun. You can't kill a person with a can of beer....unless you bashed them over the head several times. There are a million things that can indirectly kill someone and alcohol is one of them. Guns are made to kill and only to kill. Alcohol is not.
  3. I remember posting a poll around the ASG last year asking if people prefer the .320 slap hitter that AJ was or if they would like to give up some of the avg for more power. The overwhelming response was to have AJ stay as is, a .300+ hitter spraying the ball around the field. I should have sent him the results of the poll.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) Haha, I can tell the person who edited this really didn't want to. I completely understand, though. Any chance you can PM what you said?
  5. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) And why doesn't anyone talk about alcohol?? We know, for a fact, that hundreds and hundreds will die every year, solely because of alochol. Yet we don't have this crazy uproar about how we need to ban alcohol. Guns are made to kill whether it be an animal or a person. That is its sole purpose. I see absolutely no need for them aside from law enforcement or armed services. Alcohol is not created to kill anything although people who abuse it can unintentionally cause death.
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:51 AM) Hunting isn't the primary issue. And yes, these things do and have happened in the UK, Australia, etc. Maybe not this exact example, but they still happen. You cannot remove guns from the equation - its not possible. So why on earth would you take them away only from those who obtain them legally? I see no purpose for a civilized society to have guns. In my ideal world guns would be illegal to everyone except law enforcement and armed services. Gun manufacturing would exist only to provide for those outlets. Black market guns would be almost impossible to obtain in this scenario. There wouldn't be such an influx of guns out there for people to trade on the black market. Violent murders would undoubtedly decrease in this type of society. I know it would never disappear since there always will be crime and a small percentage of nut cases like this kid in Virginia Tech.
  7. This has become an anti gun debate because you don't see these kinds of things happen in other civilized societies where guns are either banned altogether or are extremely controlled. America has a disturbing obsession for the right to bear arms. I can't see how our society wouldn't be better off if guns were completely taken out of the equation. I know the gun proponents will reply that criminals will still get black market guns but I would think the overall supply of guns would be minuscule in comparison to what it is today if the market for legal guns shrank exponentially. And if banning guns altogether is a bad thing for all the hunters out there in this country so be it. I'd rather have less blood baths and sad hunters than a society of trigger happy criminals. Take up fishing.
  8. This team is becoming unbearable to watch. I find myself turning the game off more often than in past years. I hope they start doing something to excite me.
  9. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:07 AM) We don't have enough of those guys who work the counts, foul off pitches (Pods is probably the best, AJ is good at this too) Which AJ have you been watching? I saw somewhere that he led the league in fewest pitches seen per at bat. EDIT: It was a stat they showed on TV during a game late last year. Seems no different this year.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) Grinders are not defined by stats. Its diving on the dirt. Its bunting for no reason. Its grounding out 4-3. h8tr ROFLMAO
  11. No hits through 3 innings vs Robinson f***ing Tejeda!?!
  12. We have made every pitcher we've faced this year look like Cy Young. How do we have any wins?
  13. At least they made him throw over 20 pitches.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 07:27 PM) You're right he doesn't have 1 . . . he has 5. Oh. Stupid gameday.
  15. Just noticed on gameday how terrible Konerko has been. He doesn't even have 1 RBI yet.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) Jake Westbrook gives up 8 runs in 1.2. Contreras-esque Contreras had 1 unearned run in that outing.
  17. As I watch Arod smack another one out I wonder if Hawk would still take Crede over him.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) Actually, there are. You can't purchase one either, last I knew. Has that changed? Never mind.
  19. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) Today's White Sox Lineup CF Erstad 2B Iguchi DH Thome 1B Konerko RF Dye C Pierzynski 3B Crede LF Mackowiak SS Cintron Puzzled as to why we have an ice cold hitter leading off.
  20. I'd rather have Mack leadoff. His chances of getting on base are higher.
  21. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 02:03 PM) That's life. If I'm not armed and its the gunman, I'm dead anyway with no hope of defending myself. If you're so worried about your safety at school buy a Kevlar vest. There are no laws against you wearing one.
  22. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 01:47 PM) Quit going to such crazy extremes for situations you know never exist. Situations that I know NEVER exist? Fires don't occur? People don't have heart attacks? They occur more often than gunman going postal.
  23. We should all be able to bring a concealed gun anywhere we want to to (school, church, work, Sox game, etc) because you never know when a crazed gunman might go postal. In fact we should all carry a fire extinguisher, snake anti-venom, automated defibrillator, and a gas mask on us at all times as well because you never know if you'll be trapped in a fire, bit by a snake, witness a heart attack, or be attacked by mustard gas.
