  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) I'm not used to seeing this sort of defensive ability/confidence out of a White Sox leftfielder. Too bad Ozzie didn't figure this out last season. We could have had a few more wins and possibly a wild card berth.
  2. This game seems eerily similar to yesterday.
  3. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) We need a new hitting coach. What are you talking about? It's cold outside.
  4. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) Down and away, automatic K. Maybe that should be our teams slogan for '07 Can we get the marketing to coin that one? Might work better than "We are Chicago".
  5. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) I don't know the stats, but I'm gonna the great majority of hunters do in fact eat what they kill. I don't know a single hunter who doesn't make sure that he/she or someone else uses most or all of the animal, including eating what can be eaten. I am sure that is true but I was responding to the notion that there are certain hunters that need to hunt otherwise they and their family will die. I find it hard to believe that a large number of people in our country are in that situation. But who knows...maybe I'm wrong.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 04:48 PM) How long is Erstad going to be in the lineup under the mendoza line? This is mind-boggling. Didn't Ozzie make some sort of comment late in ST about players needing to get the job done or else they'd be replaced? Erstad has been atrocious.
  7. QUOTE(Balance @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) How common is this? I would guess it's less than 5% of the population.
  8. From CNN.com: Developing Story - Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung-Hui is believed to have sent a package of images and writings received by NBC news organization that police say may be critical to their investigation.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) So now that Jones has blown a save to the Royals...will the Zumaya closer talk resume? He still has a 2.16 ERA after the blown save. Gary Sheffield playing like crap so far this year. I didn't know Greg Walker was allowed to give hitting advice to players from other teams.
  10. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 02:22 PM) Whaaaat? How is fishing and hunting even closely related? It's a logical as saying stop playing baseball and start boxing. Just a minor note. Carry on. I realize there is not much of a connection but if my ideal society were to exist the hunters who use guns would have to take on another hobby. I threw fishing out there but I guess you can still hunt with a bow and possibly some other weapons. I'm not a hunter so I won't pretend to know what I'm talking about.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) As opposed to the non-exsistant gun toting mobs looking to get into shootouts at the drop of a hat at Chuck E Cheese's? OK. I was trying to illustrate how ridiculous and unnecessary it is for allowing concealed weapons. There is absolutely no need for them anywhere. Not even a college campus.
  12. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) If they had the power to overthrow Saddam, we wouldn't be there. Angry gun yielding mobs is your solution? Working really well in Darfur and the Sudan. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) Wait a sec, you kept eluding to shootouts and shooting sprees if people were allowed to carry concealed weapons (none of which has actually been proven by a real event) and he is paranoid? Yikes. I am not paranoid. People who own guns seem to be. They keep looking for reasons to protect themselves because everyone is out to get them....crazed gunmen, the shady government, etc
  13. I can't wait to see grindErstad lead off and hit into several 4-3 ground outs.
  14. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 01:00 PM) If the US government were to turn on its people, for whatever reason, it is my assertion that there would be a significant amount of defectors in the armed forces who would not participate and/ or actively try to stop such actions. I guess I still don't see why this example would make me want to own a gun. In case there's some kind of post -apocalyptic revolution some day? Seems like a stretch. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 01:00 PM) Besides, Iraqis don't seem to be having much problem standing up to the might of the US army. Yes, they're getting killed in large numbers, but our military is having a hell of a time. I guess your solution of more guns to more people doesn't seem like the logical progression for a civilized society.
  15. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) It seems you completely missed the point of my post that you originally quoted. Apparently I did. Please explain what you are getting at.
  16. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Balta said that a bunch of American citizens with semi-auto rifles couldn't stand up to the might of the US military. He is absolutely correct.
  17. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) If we have no means of recourse, they can take the ballot box away. And, if the US military were to turn on its own people, you have to believe that there would be a lot of defectors. What paranoid vision of the world do you have? All of a sudden you think a civilized country will "turn on its people"? How so? By going around killing civilians? What chance would you really have against an army if you owned a handgun.

  19. Hey come on everyone. That Tejeda guy has some of the best stuff I've see around. Sometimes you have to just tip your cap. /Hawk impersonation
  20. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 10:36 AM) What's the difference? You can kill a person with a gun. You can't kill a person with a can of beer....unless you bashed them over the head several times. There are a million things that can indirectly kill someone and alcohol is one of them. Guns are made to kill and only to kill. Alcohol is not.
  21. I remember posting a poll around the ASG last year asking if people prefer the .320 slap hitter that AJ was or if they would like to give up some of the avg for more power. The overwhelming response was to have AJ stay as is, a .300+ hitter spraying the ball around the field. I should have sent him the results of the poll.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) Haha, I can tell the person who edited this really didn't want to. I completely understand, though. Any chance you can PM what you said?
  23. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) And why doesn't anyone talk about alcohol?? We know, for a fact, that hundreds and hundreds will die every year, solely because of alochol. Yet we don't have this crazy uproar about how we need to ban alcohol. Guns are made to kill whether it be an animal or a person. That is its sole purpose. I see absolutely no need for them aside from law enforcement or armed services. Alcohol is not created to kill anything although people who abuse it can unintentionally cause death.
