  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) Wow, New Jersey Nets just offered TYRUS f***ING THOMAS 5/40 ($8 million per) in an offer sheet. The Russian Billionaire strikes foolishly. Off topic: That particular Sox logo always bothered me. Probably because I have OCD but it looks like it was drawn free hand.
  2. Apparently Ozzie doesn't want to ride out Lillibridge's hot bat.
  3. Pierre7 Ram6 Rios8 PK3 Q dh AJ2 Jones9 Viciedo5 Beckham4
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) Schilling and Peavy, which Jake eventually accepted, he also turned down the Tigers this time. Didn’t Griffey turn us down the a year or two before he said yes?
  5. And it seems like a lot of players in recent years with a NTC have turned us down. Is our management/coaching not respected around the league?
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) Is Oswalt just going to come out every season and say he wont accept a trade to the Sox? He probably has one of those decals on his pickup truck with that dude pissing on a Sox logo.
  7. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) All arrows are pointed to Minny leading the Lee derby. Lets focus on Adam Dunn. I think the Nationals will eventually lower the cost the closer it gets to the 31st. They are playing negotiation hardball which is the smart thing to do. Obviously they are not getting Beckham or Q. Where are you seeing this? Everyone else is reporting that a deal with NY is just about finalized.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) Honestly, I think we need to realize that these guys are human beings too...maybe the guys doesn't want to move here...I don't understand why sports fans take this so personally sometimes... But in his quote he specifically said "BigSqwert is a s***ty fan".
  9. What kind of player wants to stay with a last place team, with no future, instead of going to a legitimate contender?
  10. Oswalt Would Not Accept Trade To White Sox, Tigers via MODS: Feel free to change the title. I was very annoyed when I found out.
  11. Yanks also picked up Chad Tracy.
  12. HAHA! Check out Lebron's mega-billboard in Cleveland.
  13. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:22 PM) Wow. Jim Gray = Whore he is the ultimate douche reporter.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) what? a scientist has "faith" that his/her hypothesis is correct, huh!?!
  15. Mark Teahen would look great in a Diamondback or Astros jersey.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) I think Fielder is unattainable for this club. I'd focus on Berkman and LaRoche, in that order. I'd actually reverse that order since Laroche is younger and rakes in the 2nd half each year.
  17. Mets turning to Lilly per MLB Traderumors.
  18. Back to Laroche, Fielder, and Berkman.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:06 AM) The price tag was apparently Quentin, Beckham +prospect. WTF?!
  20. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:48 AM) Admittedly, I follow the NBA the least of the 4 major sports. But it seems to me that no one can be sure how a "Big 3" dynamic will work, simply because its never been done before (at least to this degree). Those predicting guaranteed championships might be as far off as those dismissing them. That said, I do think NBA basketball still comes down to TEAM, which in turn comes down to having players that compliment each other. Usually that means two great players, and 3-4 good players; the guys filling out the roster need only be decent at one particular thing (rebounding, 3pt shooting, intensity), so long as they complement the rest of the other guys. Miami can probably fill out their roster with competent, and complementary one dimensional guys, but the key will come down to filling the spots of men 3 through 6 with solid guys who can mesh with the Big 3. I think that could very well take a few years. Call me crazy, but I think I don't think if a Lebron could have been added to the 95-96 Bulls, they necessarily win more than the 72, or that those titles would still be locks. The NBA certainly is different than other hoops, but its still a game where the whole can be greater than the sum of its parts. Well stated sir.
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) Now, I don't mean to come off as a condescending prick...but all of these things you speak of, who decides what is illegal and not, what crimes are serious and what are not will differ greatly from person to person, depending on background, culture, where they're from, where their parents are from, the things that they've experienced in their lives, etc. Pretending everyone should act just like you or think just like you is ridiculous. Pretending the way you think is the only "right" way is also ridiculous, and this also pertains to me, and my own opinions toward others. But in my view, it's ok for different people to think differently about such matters, as to some of us, these matters are of great concern, and to others, such things are so out of sight/out of mind, they don't really matter, but we just like to comment on them anyway. Some people will choose to see the best in people, even if there are people in this world that have no "best". I thought killing people was universally frowned upon regardless of background, culture, where they're from, where their parents are from, the things that they've experienced in their lives, etc.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) Especially since he has a higher career OPS in the postseason than he does in the regular season. True but he still is a frequent no-show in the post season. Some years he looks great but other years he looks like Dewayne Wise.
  23. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) i think people who dont think the heat will win championships are underestimating how good lebron is the cavs won 66 and 61 games the last two years with absolute garbage around lebron It's funny that with hindsight it was 'absolute garbage' surrounding him but during the season they weren't considered that.
