White Sox Acquire Alex Rios Off Waivers
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 06:52 PM) Rios is an elite defensive RF with an elite arm and the 500 innings he spent in CF last year were also among the best in the game. I suspect he'll be a bit better than 'solid' out there for us. He'd be b****ing at Kenny if we didn't put in the claim and Detroit picked him up.

White Sox Acquire Alex Rios Off Waivers
This just guaranteed that I'll be going to more game sin August and September. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll be going to more games now.

Best defensive OF we've had, that can also hit, since? Rowand? Probably better than Rowand too.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) Wait, what does that mean in terms of Podsednik? Does he replace Wise as the 4th OF/pinch runner? Hope not. He's still the catalyst on offense.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) Makes sense, he's only been our best, most-consistent hitter and the catalyst for our offense. ^^^^^

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) AJ's troubles throwing out runners are very much effected by the pitchers he works with. 3 of the 5 starters are just downright terrible at holding runners on, and most of the relievers are as well. His throwout rate is just as bad with John and Mark on the mound.

I'd love to have a very good defensive catcher on our team. One that can throw out base runners more than once a month. And yeah I know AJ's looked a little better lately in this area but he's still amongst the worst.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) Why would AJ not be back next year? Rumor has it he wants to take the "most interesting man alive" crown and travel the world.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) It's amazing to me that some people are so judgmental and unwilling to accept that some people develop problems. I'm certainly not aiming this towards you but I can't help but to feel race is an element in these situations. Some young black kid makes it to the NBA, MLB, NFL, etc and continues to smoke pot, hang out with "thugs", or whatever and everyone calls them out on it. "What an idiot." "He just hit the lotto ad blew it." and on and on. And for some reason this guy blows it because of stupidity and it's because he's "developed problems".

QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) DH - Thome C - Flowers 1B - Viciedo 2B - Getz SS - Ramirez 3B - Beckham LF - Quentin CF - Rios RF - Danks/Mitchell If Danks/Mitchell aren't ready I'd sign Pods for a 1 year deal. Even if they're ready I'd like to keep him in as the 4th OF/Pinch runner.

Is Dye being traded for Rios???
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) That does bring up another aspect. I've liked Dye a lot here, but this year, his attitude on the field seems to be bad. He spaces off on plays (beyond just errors), and doesn't seem to be making as much effort. He gets angry a lot more often at himself than I remember him doing before, and he seems to get pissed at umps a LOT now. That whole set of things worries me a little. Not a ton, but, something to consider. I'd say most of the things you're critiquing has occurred within the last 2 weeks. And you'll see the positive correlation with his average dropping during that same time frame.

What do you do with Konerko if you groom Dye next year as the 1B? Trade him?

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) Is it weird that Seattle has a better record then us, yet further out of the playoffs? To me it just doesnt seem right that Seattle is better then us record-wise They're ahead of us in the wild card race. And this just in! The AL Central is terrible.
