The Economy, stupid
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) Lousy socialism, taking money from the poor and giving to the rich! Oh, wait, I think they got that one backwards...

Bank bailouts hit 4.7 trillion http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D99IEBK81.htm that's so messed up. oh well, at least a bunch of douche bag bankers made off with tens of millions each in bonus money that came directly from the tax payers.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) Only if eating, reading a map, changing a CD in the CD player, smoking, etc...while driving are treated the same way you could go that direction with 'driving while sleepy' 'driving while mad' 'driving after watching too much NASCAR'. major offenders, such as drunk drivers and idiot texting drivers need to get busted.

Texting or talking on a cell phone while driving should result in consequences equal to that of drunk driving.

The Economy, stupid
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) If you had a gov't agency that was tasked with dealing in computer software, would you really be surprised if you have a bunch of MSFT execs in there? Sort of has to be that way. thats actually a major problem, not a benefit.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) your take on the disasters and expense of using Unix or Nix like systems is a bit shall we say overstated. There are no networking or communications hurdles with using Unix. Hell TCP/IP has been running on Unix for a hell of a lot longer than Windows has been around. ^^^

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) Ignoring for a moment the ridiculous last line, the general post is correct. But its also correct to say that GS and MSFT are what they are because they are really damn good at what they do, and their presence in their markets has been a huge benefit to everyone. Well, microsoft isn't really all that good at what they do anymore. They are on a downslope. The new versions of Windows have become a joke and their software is bloated, slow, and overpriced. They are ready for some new contenders to take market share. Their main advantage is that they are so completely imbedded into business IT infrastructure and they are the standard people are used to for an OS. They were at one time pretty good at what they do, they are coasting now.

The Economy, stupid
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) When AIG et al. hold their big conferences, we get huge lectures from you folks about how they absolutely need to hold those things, they're a complete necessity to meet with contractors, vendors, people they do business with, etc. Take note of the fact that SSA held this thing in Phoenix in the summer. You know why they might have done that? Because no one in their right mind wants to go to phoenix for a conference in the summer. It's 120 degrees every day. The only reason why you'd go there is that the hotels are really cheap. They paid like $85 a night. The feds have paid retention bonuses to single AIGFP employees that cost more than that conference. AIG is an abomination. I wouldn't want to defend an organization I supported by stating "But AIG did it".

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) So what does science say was there before the big bang? in a scientific sense; no one knows why there is reality, existence, time, space, or anything. probably never gonna know.

The Economy, stupid
Take a look at this U.S population growth chart (based on census data) and take into consideration that we have had 0% job growth in the last decade and could easily see the next decade losing jobs rather than being able to break even. Anyone else see how this isn't going to work?

The Economy, stupid
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090714/D99DSUG00.html top that off with unemployment numbers that will be over 10% for years along side 20% being underemployed or have just given up on getting a job. wages dropping due to massive influx of workers into the US with no job growth and the practice of massive outsroucing. not good. did you guys know that we are going to hit a mark where there has been 0% job growrth over a decade?

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 10:00 AM) This is pretty funny: http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/07/...refused-to.html wow imagine if they did that to a non-Democrat. The MSM would be reporting it 100% of the time for months. "President snubbed! President not respected!" instead the media continues to merely be the main marketing wing of the Dem party.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 07:45 AM) Yeah how lucky am I to have had Chucky AND Hillary as my senators the past several years. (I don't really mind Gillebrand at all, especially as Hillary's replacement.) the worst part about him is that he'll never lose.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) Man, Sotomayor's ass must be all wet and nasty from all that ass-kissing that was going in the Senate hearings today. I really don't care about her, Barry could have nominated anyone he wanted to and they'd get into the SC. I just would prefer not to see her paraded around as some godly woman because she's Hispanic. How about you focus on s*** that matters? dude, she's a wise latina. the wisest of the wise latinas. how can you not think she's the best? i hope she wears a f***ing wizard hat and has a owl that floats around her head and s***; show how truly wise and mythical her powers really are.

Gov. Palin Resigns (Quits)
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) If you don't want your family raked over the coals, don't use them as political props. Obama has used his family as political props as much as anyone ever has. Should his kids be 'raked over the coals'?
