Also, there were less billets available, so this program was much more competitive. I barely made the cut, graduating in the middle of my class. Today, my outreach is complicated by the fact that USNA is mandated to have 2/3rds of the incoming class with 20/20 vision. That requirement is there to keep the fleet manned with pilots. Medical specialists can get more technical, but the typical 18-22 year old is going to go through some vision changes as they mature, and at graduation, there are even fewer aviation candidates. What this means in all practical terms is that if a typical midshipman, regardless of class standing, meets the physical standards required, than aviation is a likely career path. It's all a moot point anyway. Whether or not McCain got a "plum assignment", he certainly paid for it in Hanoi. I wonder if Jeff Klein served his country. The way the article is framing the situation, these are modern text books which are used as course material which encourage killing people. That is definitely illegal. If one of these kids kill someone the teachers in that school will probably get locked up, kind of a situation like Matthew Hale. There is a difference to reading ancient texts and then discussing them as compared to using a modern text which calls for violence. The bible can be read in historical context, as this is the way laws used to be. This text book seems to suggest this is the way things need to be now.

However, this is nothing new for journalism in this country. Back in the WAY old days, the media was way worse than it is now. If you see some of the stuff newspapers would print in the 1800's and early 1900's FOX looks very rational.

FOX has left wing commentators, but that doesn't prove they aren't totally pro-GOP. as far as considering only hard news, FOX is slanted to the right to about the same measure as ABC, NBC,CBS, CNN, and MSNBC are to the left. When you think about it, FOX doesn't even put on that good of a show, I think CNN has a much better presentation. The only reason FOX has such high ratings is that they are the only right wing news on TV.
