ACLU leader (former?) guilty of child porn
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 27, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) How many members does the ACLU have at this level? How much space does the national media have? Why aren't my local stories plastered all over the country? We had a school teacher and coach convicted of abusing kids and downloading child pornography. He wasn't national news because he was also a GOP leader and the GOP controlled media kept it out of the newspapers. Where was Fox News on that one? a school teacher does not have as much national influence as a the president of the ACLU's Virginia chapter. you know this, texsox. there is a large disparity when comparing the power and the level of scandal of a President of the ACLU and a gym teacher.

ACLU leader (former?) guilty of child porn
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 26, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) When they are no longer an employee, it should not look badly upon the former employer. well, i think it would be safe to way he was active President the ACLU's Virginia chapter when he committed many of these crimes. i bet those a lot those files date back to between 2000-2002. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ May 26, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) a famous pastor are more significant public figures than a former president of a state chapter of the ACLU. not IMO. the ACLU has a lot of power. just the amount of damage they can cause to any entity with massive litigation alone is formitable. not to mention how they help shape policy that effects everyone. that pastor was really a nobody to most people. i'm sure some of his lame "jeeeeesus, aaaa jeeeeesusssssssss, the devil must go. aaaaaa jeeeeeeeeesusssssssssss"" sermons 'inspired' some crazy people, but they were already idiots before he did anything. also, the President of the Virgina ACLU committed a much worse crime IMO. the pastor guy didn't even do anything illegal, he was just a phony. the Congressman that sent dirty emails to interns? shady, but not as bad as supporting child rape videos.

ACLU leader (former?) guilty of child porn
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 26, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) Um, Clinton's cock much? can't say that i have. i did see a video of him committing felony perjury though. but i do agree with you that much of what the news covers is worthless crap. they want to get the "american idol" audience to watch more news, so they'll have a large segment on "is there really 2 scoops of raisins in raisin bran?" if 'raisin bran' donated an acceptable amount to the DNC then yes, there is two scoops, else no there is not.

ACLU leader (former?) guilty of child porn
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 26, 2007 -> 05:53 PM) Another pedophile is caught *yawn*. Wake me up when there is some zombies or ninjas. Perhaps some samurai might make this "Teh liberal communist media is keeping us in the dark about a now unemployed ACLU worker from 2002 who was also a kiddie diddler!" hullabaloo a bit more interesting. Plenty of people who worked for plenty of different jobs and organizations have been busted being pedos. Why is this one going to be different and warrant front page coverage on every news outlet? meh, the media reports plenty of worthless stories. like some republican reverend is gay and it's 24-7 news. the media selects which news stories fit into there world view. President of the ACLU's Virginia chapter watches videos of kids getting raped? not news, doesn't fit into the ACLU = good view. Republican sends dirty email to intern? big news. Republican = evil, fits into their world view, thus it is deemed notable and important. also, zombies a big news story? IMO, hell yea. ninjas? not really. unless they were democrat freedom fighting ninjas! that would warrant a 5 piece series on 60 minutes, the series could show how noble and just these freedom fiighters truly are. John Edwards "I support these brave and noble ninjas"

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 26, 2007 -> 12:35 AM) Good to see Ozzie hasn't changed. We played our cute little macho game tonight and it nearly cost us a win, and it DID cost Buehrle win #100 of his career. However other than that blaring bit of ignorance, nice win tonight. Let's get a series win tomorrow and hope we can finally finish off a sweep. this is a joke post, right? whatever QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 26, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) Dude. When Terrero hit that ball, I just scream s*** and watched that f***er sail into the night. Also, when Ozzie came out to talk to Mark I pleaded out loud to keep him in the game, then he gave up the bomb. I still think it was the right move. Leave it to you to try and find something negative in a good team win. how bout it, constant b****ing, even after a win.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 25, 2007 -> 05:56 PM) The fund raiser went to the University foundation, We also had President Bush a couple years back, Guilani, Powell, and Stormin' Norman. They all command that kind of price tag and all generate way more in community visibility and donations, From the foundation board it's a simple decision to hire big name and therefor high dollar speakers, BTW, sports stars and etc, charge waaaaay more than these guys, none of which has anything to do with the fact Edwards is a total phony. if you are worth like 200 million dollars and give a speech at a fundraiser to help the poor and demand a $55,000 speaking fee you are a total ass

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 25, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) The $40,000 he received from my University was actually a fund raiser that makes it 10 times worse (only three times more hilarious) the guy goes to speak at a fundraiser to help alleviate poverty... but demands $40,000, which if he waived his fee, would have gone to the poor.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 25, 2007 -> 05:11 PM) Probably true. Hogzilla was true. And that one was over 1,000 pounds. yea, good point can imagine if you were walking through the woods and saw something like that thing?

Senators Reach Immigration Bill Compromise
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 25, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) Amen, I'd love to hear just one elected official mention tying this to jobs. No jobs, no immigration, Not from Mexico, Pakistan, Canada, England, Norway, not from there or there. Not over there or under there, Jobs, jobs, jobs, needs to be the reason. And I still think it is crazy how we don't have a problem with a Canadian coming over and taking a 80,000 management job but fight like hell about Mexicans taking $15,000 construction jobs. Which one is someone here likely to hold? i agree with part of what you said. i'm definately not "anti-mexican' or anything like that. i don't have a problem getting people that are here working steady jobs a path to legalization. but we aren't bringing over canadians to do management jobs in large nunbers. tech jobs and engineering? yes, from India and Asia, but only because those jobs are impossible to completely fill with americans that have no education or skills in these fields (and have no desire to obtain these skills). also, these tech and engineering immigrants did it legally.
-
Senators Reach Immigration Bill Compromise
wow, that is messed up. we're gonna have a billion mexican immigrants slamming over the border. the country can't sustain tens of millions of new people mexico coming over. there just aren't that many low level jobs. what are we going to do when all these people are here, and citizens, and only a third of them have jobs? this whole thing needs to be thought out better.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 23, 2007 -> 01:19 PM) Seriously, for the other campaigns, there is no excuse for why Edwards is always first out of the gate with these statements. This one is so incredibly obvious that campaigns should have been on it last night. they want to do some more polling before they decide what their public stance will be.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 22, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) Having worked as a director @ Union Board @ Indiana University, let me tell you, that was the fee for a mid-level speaker of some notoriety. When we had Colin Powell or Elizabeth Dole, they were several times that fee for a single appearance. i know, it's just funny to me that he charges $55,000 to talk about poverty.
