  1. QUOTE(GoSoxGo @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Budget? Bellhorn was designated for assignment and the season is almost over. It would only cost us $725,000 to claim him. That doesn't seem like a lot of money to me if Crede has a broken finger or wrist that will make him miss the rest of the season. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view...557&format=text By the way, Bellhorn isn't exactly a "masher." He draws walks and hits doubles and a few homeruns. Crede is more of a "masher" than Bellhorn is. I would rather see Bellhorn's bat and OBP at the bottom of our lineup than either Crede's or Blum's. If Crede's hand is truly injured and he is going to miss an extended period of time, I would be claiming Bellhorn off waivers right about now. With Matt Smith being outrighted to Charlotte, we do have the extra space on the 40-man roster to claim him. "a whopping 109 strikeouts in 283 at-bats."
  2. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) BRING ON GREG NORTON! What about the Milkman?? I'll take Blum over Pablo. Pabs scares me at third.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) His fingers got squashed. He'll be fine. Got it. Thanks.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) He offered (bunted) at the pitch, which is the same as swinging at the pitch. After you swing at a pitch, it doesn't matter if it hits you or not, its a strike. It was the right call. I understand that rule, but Scott Merkin said Crede got HURT. Is that correct?: Ozuna was in the game only because Joe Crede was hurt two pitches earlier while trying to lay down a bunt. Timo Perez followed with a single to left, driving in the game-winning run.
  5. I don't get it. Crede got hurt trying to bunt? But he didn't get hit by the pitch??
  6. Was Scott Merkin watching the same game as you guys: Michael Ryan's two-out line drive, which barely stayed fair, tipped off Paul Konerko's glove at first base and scored Rodriguez from first with the game-tying run. First-base umpire Marty Foster made the ruling on the line drive, and replays appeared to show he made the right call.

  8. Maybe the umps did us a favor. If that had made the correct call, the guy could have parked the next pitch over the plastic for a 2-1 win. You never know. Glad you guys kept the updates coming. Gameday crapped out in the top of the tenth. This is a great day.
  9. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Cause its the right play...jesus dude...get a grip Only if the guy can do it.
  10. WHY IN THE WORLD DOES HE HAVE THAT IDIOT URIBE BUNT??????!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) MARTY PARTY FACING A LEFTY. SO HE WALKS HIM THANKS FOR BEING STUPID MARTY, WHY CANT YOU THROW A STRIKE TO A LEFTY. WHAT IS THE DEAL. DUSTIN IS IN INSTEAD OF JENKS SO WHERE IS THE 2 RUN GAME WINNING HOMER GOING TO GO. I PREDICT LEFT CENTER. A deep drive to left center field
  12. Please, please maybe just one run in the ninth? Is it too much to ask?
  13. Who pitches the ninth? I'd love to see Cotts, but I think it's Hermie.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Jenks is down, Marty Party is up and Jizzcan is up also. We dont want to win this series. :puke :puke :puke
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) I am so glad we have Uribe hitting 2nd instead of Gooch. Why tire out the poor pitchers arm. Its more humane to put human fans in to wave at the ball.
  16. OK. You be the manager. Who pitches in 7, 8, 9 for Sox? I say Garland, Cotts, Hermanson. Unless Garland is shot. Then, I go with Cotts, Jenks, Hermanson. I'm sure Ozzie will do his usually matchup stuff and bring in Marte to give up a hit to a lefthander.
  17. Wish our hitters would make a pitcher work like these guys do.
