QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) He was whining about playing time when he was called up. For some reason he feels Ross will be playing in Milwaukee next year, which is just about impossible (Prince Fielder). Calling him a wuss is hardly an attack and he's telling him to shut up becuase he was whining. Also he made this post thinking that Ross made the throw home, when in fact it was Tadahito Iguchi. I apologize to Ross Gload, Sox fans and anyone else I offended. I thought it was Gooch, but someone at the game told me it was Gload. Maybe the upper deck isn't such a great place to watch a game after all.[/color Anyway, if I come off as negative it's just that I care very much about this team and take losses hard. You guys (we) deserve a championship!!

Will Buerhle fix himself before October?
Colorado Sox Fan replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) BS. He just happens to have a bad game or he struggles whenever he's up against a playoff-caliber team. There's no way that Mark Buehrle is an ace. Aces beat the best teams, Mark Buehrle doesn't. I'm sure he'll win his next few starts against the Royals, Tigers, _____ garbage team, and then everyone will be happy and say, "See, that's our ace!" Then, he'll get destroyed by a good team in the playoffs...and he was just struggling at the time. Agree 100%. Well put. -

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) No matter how mediocre Buehrle is down the stretch, I cannot see Oz starting anyone else in game one. No matter who we are playing. You guys think differently? That's why we'll lose game one. I love MB, but he's not up to it. He may have balls, but he was shelled last night and hasn't beaten a good team since God knows when. I know you will all rip me, but I'd start Garland game one, Contreras game two, Garcia on the road in game three and then Buerhle. I don't care what he "deserves". Sox fans, who he doesn't appreciate by the way, deserve an f-ing championship. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) He did? Maybe it wasn't him, but I swear he allowed Guerrero to score from second on a bunt. I may have been seeing things. I know, a lot of other things went wrong, but he could have made the play couldn't he???? -

One other thing: Can ARow look at one pitch after Colon walks the ballpark and walks in a run? Just one pitch, that's all I ask for. -

I went to the game again today. For the first time in my adult life, I left a game early. I figured if I wanted to see Charlotte play, I'd fly to NC. What a horrible game. It's pretty obvious this team can't win against good teams. Cy Young? Yeah, right. This team is one and done in the playoffs. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. -
QUOTE(BamaDoc @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) I am not arguing with the pickup. I just think with expanded rosters we have the opportunity to use some of the players we brought up to give a offensive spark. Get him out of here. He is horrible. Give me a break. As a utility infielder, fine. But not regular duty. Please. Hmm Timo doesn't hit ... gets clutch hits ... plays field OK ... gets ripped. Blum doesn't hit doesn't get clutch hits (but hits the ball hard) ... play field OK, except costs us game ... but he's fine. What's the difference? Could it be...uh, no. Not that.

1) Why is a .200 hitter starting for the Sox at first? Why is Geoff Blum in the majors? You talk about how Ozzie is in love with Timo, what about this loser who should not be wearing a major league uniform? Get him off the team. 2) MB is a nice number three starter, but no Cy Young candidate. Mark: instead of criticizing fan support, learn how to pitch with a lead. If you need examples, see Dewey Hoyt in 1983. A top pitcher doesn't give up the lead TWICE after his team battled back. Disgraceful!!! 3) There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the upper deck at US Cellular. I sat almost in the top row and had a great view of the game. Anyone who criticizes the upper deck is a moron. Go to Yankee Stadium, or for that matter, Coors Field and sit at the top of the upper deck. Case closed. 4) I don't understand why there weren't more people at the game. I am not an attendance critic, but it was a beautiful Friday night against a top team in the AL and we couldn't break 30k. That's bad. However, I would never criticize someone who didn't go--ticket prices are too high and food and drinks are an outrage. I just think there are enough people in Chicagoland who could go to a game to see the best team in the majors fight it out against another top team. That said, I enjoyed having elbow room. 5) Ross Gload should shut his mouth until he gets a key hit or makes a play in the field. Poor throw on Guerrero. Shut up Ross. See you in Milwaukee next year, you whining wuss! 6) Sox fans are the best in the world! I shouted myself hoarse tonight and it was great to see such enthusiasm at the park. It's a shame our manager played another one of his curious lineups 7) Jenks is a stud! 8) This team won't go far with a manager who favors AAA ballplayers who shouldn't be near a major league stadium. 9) Sorry I couldn't see you guys Thursday night, but I had to work too late. Just as well--another frustrating game for Sox. 10) Despite everything, I want to go back Saturday and/or Sunday! I love the Chicago White Sox!!!! 11) Anytime Carl wants to get a hit, it's OK with me. Good night, God bless and take you shots, boys!!!

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) I don't know if it has been brought up yet, but isn't it a little bit ironic that the day after these comments are made the core of the core meeting is tonight? I was thinking the same thing. I tell you what, I was going to bust my ass to get there tonight, but this whole thing turned me off. Go ahead shower me with criticism. I'll be there tomorrow night, but this attitude has me thinking twice about these ballplayers and lack of appreciation for Sox fans--the best baseball fans on the f-ing planet!!

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) While it obviously works both ways, depending on your glass half full/half empty take, would it be good or bad to meet the Indians in the playoffs? While we have seen there pitchers alot this season, they have seen ours just as often. Would you rather see someone that you have already seen 19 times, or only 6? We could easily get our asses kicked by Cleveland.

Core of the Core - Sox vs Royals Game 3
Colorado Sox Fan replied to knightni's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Glad I didn't go to this one tonight. Sounds frustrating. I'll be there tomorrow night. -
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) that is shoking!! But I do agree with them 100% The tribune and other outlets are not reporting how well the attendance has been going this season. They wait for one poorly attended series and fire away. I didn't see any reports, except one little line in the Sun-Times, that the Sox broke 2 million, which is pretty important. I can't stress enough how impressive the numbers are this year with the season ticket base the Sox have. Games against bad teams and shaky weather will look horrible because there is zero interest. Really is disgraceful on the part of Tribune.
-
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) The best part is how they said it helps them win...i'm too lazy too go crunch the numbers right now, but they aren't good in front of big crowds. Now, i realize those big crowds come against good teams...however, should you need a big crowd to motivate you to beat the crap out of lowly KC? I also find it ironic that the players essentially started an attendance thread. Just go play the damn game guys. There are a million reasons why people aren't there, and if you aren't buying them, then that's too bad. They aren't "excuses", they are legit reasons. This is very, very disappointing to read these quotes. I expect nothing less from the Tribune. They will do anything to discredit something that competes with their interests. But the players and Ozzie should know better than to get caught up in this. It's not like the people quoted haven't been through all this. It sounds like Jerry Manuel revisited. It's obvious that these people have no idea what the hell it costs to go to a game. If you have a choice, why would you spend the cash on KC, the worst team in baseball? Maybe they think people have a lot of money to throw around, but I don't. I'm going to be in Chicago through the weekend and was excited about going to games, but now I'm thinking twice about spending all that money to watch ballplayers who don't appreciate the support Sox fans have shown this year. I'll go to one game, but I was going to try and make every game Fri-Sun. I already spent a s***load of money to see the team in Denver twice this year. Lot of other Sox fans in CO did too.

I really, really, really don't understand our manager.

Give him a start this weekend.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Borchard really said nothing wrong. I am actaully rooting for Borch, hopfully he can come out and at least hold his own up here, and increase his value. A package of Marte, Borch and one of the SP's could bring alot back to this club....... I see nothing wrong with what he said and his comments in other papers were not inflammatory at all...something about enjoying the ride. And at $5mil. plus I think I could enjoy the ride. In fact, I'm enjoying it and not even getting paid. I don't see where he fits in Sox' plans, but believe he would have some trade value and they shouldn't let him go for nothing...someone would take a flier on him.

QUOTE(Yeast Confection @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Gload needs to impress in September again, though, which won't be easy playing once a week tops. Looks like he's not going to get even that chance. He's really getting buried by Ozzie.

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) This is getting more depressing by the moment. That's for sure. Serious downgrade in 2006.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) Being a cheapskate doesn't necessarily = mental retardation. Telling members of the press that he finally started to read the playbook and it's actually helping his performance is a pretty good indication of the brain power that this guy has been blessed with. I think he's been spending too much time with what Marley's got in his mouth.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) I love Pauly. Just not a $12M Pauly. I hope he's back next year, just not with a ridiculous contract. I would take a very long look at the options in the offseason. But, I have no problem with him coming back.
